I am so sorry Alta.

I took Alexis to the Red Cross today to return the loaners of equipment when she broke her foot. Roads are icy but not as bad as I thought they would be.

Anyone buy anything interesting on sale from the weekend? I bought myself a puffy vest and fleece sweater for under it. My old puffy just wasnt keeping me warm anymore. Landsend had them on sale. Even with the exchange it was a good deal.
Other than that nothing.

Glad Alexis is doing well now. Icy roads here to day as the snow started.

I struck GOLD this Black Friday...I got a new phone for myself, for free and I changed carriers so I reduced my bill by $12 a month and the best thing is after the two year plan, I get to keep the phone!!

I also snagged a $100 hand held massager for $35 and a $150 camera card for $30 bucks!!

Sorry for the loss in your family, Alta. That's gotta be tough.

We didn't go too crazy with the sales... picked up some fun White Elephant gifts for the family Christmas party. The girl child also asked for an air fryer and we got one on sale for her. I found a new pair of shoes that I probably didn't need but they were cute and I know I'll wear them.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Alta, I am so sorry to hear about your niece...

We had a lovely Thanksgiving. Everyone was here; everything went well, and we all had a great time. I babysat the Friday after, but just for the morning. When I got home, all the Christmas decorations had been brought in, and we spent the rest of the day (and Saturday) putting up Christmas decorations. I am really happy with everything we did. It was a little tough because this is the first Christmas without my mother, and there were so many little memories with the decorations and the ornaments on the tree. It was not easy, but it was also good because there were so many lovely memories.

After all the decorations were up on Sunday, we had our neighbours over for a wine and cheese night. It was lovely spending some time with them.

The rest of the week has been a little crazy. We are getting ready for our Daughters of the British Empire Christmas party, so I counted tablecloths and napkins. I create a family calendar every year, so I spent a day doing that. Then a second day working with my friend on hers. There are weeks I feel like a chicken with my head cut off.

How is everyone doing for Christmas? Presents wrapped under the tree? All finished and taking the rest of the season easy? haha!

To answer Ane's question - yes, my calendar is filling up. I have my high school girls' Annual Christmas party, a Christmas concert at a beautiful concert hall, a cosy concert at church and my DBE Christmas party. That is just the beginning... it gets crazier.

Good morning ladies.
Alta - so sorry to hear she lost the baby. My prayers are with her.
Sherri - I didn't buy much but found a gorgeous warm pullover robe and a pretty pink plaid coat. I didn't do any online shopping. I find in retirement I just don't feel like buying so much anymore. Good thing b/c our economy sucks :)

I've been out in the snow, taking photos. Living in an area that gets snow is so much fun. It's hard work doing the shoveling and I'm learning to dress more warmly, as the temps are much colder here than on the coast (Vancouver), but the dogs, especially the pup, love to get out for snow play and I am enjoying landscape photos.

I think I'm going to do a challenge here today. I CT elsewhere, working with lots of brushes and stamps, which has helped to develop my style more, but it's fun to just use random kits, mixing as I please and I can do that here. Look for my page int he gallery later today :) There are a few new designers here since I CT'd here I think, I'm going to go check.

I'm hoping for a lazy day here. Time to get more coffee and take the dogs out. Good chatting with you ladies. HAGD.

Alta, I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. It's such a heartbreaking thing to lose a much-wanted-and-already-loved baby. [My oldest daughter has had 6 losses... younger one has had a failed IVF. Very emotional times.]

Rae, I talked to my mom in K'loops today; it's odd for them to have colder temps colder than ours in Kelowna, but that's how today has gone. The road up the mountain is pretty icy and my husband is nervous to drive on it. Good thing I've got nerves of steel! We've got a LOT of snow for this early in the season. I'll share. :(

Black Friday sales. There were a few good deals at Michaels on things I'd be buying anyway. I managed to luck out when looking for Christmas gifts for our son-in-law and got flash sale pricing on Amazon. I'm dreading the Chanukah shopping bill though, since the dollar is so sucky right now.

I spent most of Monday at our daughter's house supervising their painter. They're getting ready to sell their house and wouldn't you know, they had a plumbing leak that meant a lot of new drywall and many touch-ups. I'm not sure why they had to have this painting done while they're out of town... I ended up frozen and super-tired despite just sitting. Long COVID is so weird. Today I've been dizzy all day.

Supper is almost ready so I'm signing off. Happy December!

Happy Monday, all!

This week is my last board meeting and business travel of the year. Yay!

This past weekend, we celebrated my nephew's 16th bday. We attended the annual Victorian Christmas event at our Old Prairie Town park with hubby's extended family. Normally, his dad and step-mom join us but they were under the weather so we invited new guests and that was fun, as well. I also got all the Christmas presents wrapped, but all of the decorations are still in storage bins in the basement. LOL.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi everyone! How was your weekend?

Friday night, we went to a high school choir event (we know kids in the choir) where they served dinner and sang madrigals. They dressed in period costumes too, which made it extra nice. Saturday we did our usual shopping, hung up outside lights, and started our usual holiday cookie baking. Sunday was our typical day- church, followed by nap, and choir practice. Today I'm not doing a whole lot, just napping and wrapping presents that came in the mail. I intend to scrap some, so I'll do that next. :)

Oh, I was nominated again for LOTW, which you can vote in HERE if you haven't already. Mine is titled Bubbles- if you don't like it, please do vote for someone. :)

We were out running around for appointments for most of the day, in lots of freshly falling snow, making roads treacherous, then a sever cold warning came into effect that is hitting tonight and tomorrow. Alexis got the air cast off her broken ankle today at physiotherapy. We grabbed a nice hot chocolate between appointments at the cutest little coffee shop/boutique/store. It is so fun to go there and just relax. I bought a cut metal ornament "joy", it was my word for 2022. Does anyone else do a word for the year? any thoughts on 2023?

I normally try to be a very positive person, but my blood is still boiling. Despite this being a very busy week at work, they decided to have our company Christmas party yesterday (lunch followed by axe throwing). Hubby had a medical appointment that was scheduled 6 months ago, so I could only attend the lunch.

We had two tables as we only have a dozen employees. The tables were in a long line about two feet apart. The first table ordered appetizers for only their table. So when the waitress came to our table, my coworker asked her to just double whatever was ordered and bring the same appetizers to our table. I thought that was brilliant. The first table got their appetizers first and wolfed them down. When our appetizers came, employees from the first table came and stole our appetizers and ate those, too. It wasn't like they were trying to be funny or joking... they were just being greedy and mean.

I was embarrassed about their behavior and unprofessionalism and shocked that no one said a word. And the employee who did the stealing is in his 60s, so its not like he didn't know better. I was glad I had an excuse to get my lunch to go and get on the road for hubby's appointment. I guess it's true about what they say about the holidays... it really brings out the best AND the worst in people.

Happily, I only have six more working days THIS YEAR and the rest of the time, we'll either be closed for the holidays or I'll be on vacation. I can make it six more days... Thank you for letting me vent.

Shana, I'm sorry this happened to you. People are supposed to be more generous during the holiday season, not this! (((HUGS)) Good thing you only have 6 days left this year so you can enjoy your time away from such people! :)

Oh Alta- I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. My prayers.

Shana- that's awful about the luncheon etc!

I've seen on the news that some of y'all have had really really cold weather. I don't think I would make it.

The surgery for my left eye has been postponed a week as the doctor had a death in the family. I'm saddened for him and his family of course, just anxious for the other eye.
On a good news front- my 2 week follow up appointment for eye 1 was great! He was very very pleased. Vision in my non-dominant eye is at 20/25 without glasses! The best it ever was with glasses was 20/40.
Still having headaches, which are caused by my 2 eyes not working well together. Just too much of a difference at present and the glasses I have with just one lens in is an incorrect Rx along with about 20 years old.

I managed some good deals on the sales. Happy about that!

Shana, that's awful! I'm not usually one for "tattling", but did you mention it to your boss? Maybe leaving out the culprit? It would certainly leave a bad "taste in my mouth" for the holidays to have someone treat me like that. Actually, I'm not feeling very good about some of my co-workers right now either, but I won't go into it. I just wish people would put 100% into their jobs. Seems that that work ethic has gone out the window in the last couple years.

Sorry you have to wait for surgery, Michelle. Good luck with your other eye.

Carla, no... I'm not a tattler, either. Funny thing is.... the boss was sitting right next to me and watched it all happen. So I don't think anything will be said. However, I think the employees realized that they were in the wrong as they've gone out of their way to help prepare for our final board meeting this week. So heres hoping for a Christmas miracle. LOL!

I have never done a word for the year, although I have thought about it. Joy is a good one. The hot chocolate sounds like fun.

What are everyone's plans for Christmas? We haven't made any yet. Are you travelling?
Just finished my Christmas shopping except for a few special co-workers and my daughter's boyfriend (they've been dating for over two years).

Because of Fred's condition we don't have any plans. 6 of our 7 children and most of the grandchildren were here for Thanksgiving. Because they were here we had our Christmas party on the evening of Thanksgiving. The presents were given out then. It will still be a special day and we may have the children that live around here attend. I spluged and purchased a new laptop but we are using it to help my husband see zoom and Facebook so even our present is early. Tho old laptop said in February it would not longer we useful unless we update and my son-in-law said it might not even update because of how old it is. Christmas is still a special day and we will enjoy it and the season here at home.

Lily Ann, our holiday activities kicked off earlier this month. We have an Old Prairie Town park that does a Victorian Christmas Dinner the first weekend of December. We always take hubby's aunt and uncle to this event and it's always fun.

On Dec. 16, Morgan and I will meet with her Grandma Debby (Randy's mom) for a girls luncheon. We've done this every year for many years now. It's a nice way for Morgan and her grandma to still have a relationship.

The next day, we're driving a couple of hours to my brother's house to celebrate with my side of the family. It will be a full house with lots of kids and 17-month old, so that should be a hoot. Hubby and I are bringing a "cup game" where the kids can select cups and punch through the tissue. We've filled the cups with everything from candy to socks to $2 bills... so that should be fun.

We will see hubby's side on Dec. 23. The older nieces and nephews will be flying back on Dec. 23, so we're meeting in the afternoon for drinks, appetizers, and a white elephant gift exchange.

It's fun how every celebration is very, very different... but each celebration seems to fit the group pretty well. I'm glad that all of our celebrations will take place before Christmas. That means that hubby and I will be able to spend Christmas day at our home, just the two of us. We'll be able to sleep in, watch movies, and just relax. I'll plan to make a pot of chili or something easy like that and just enjoy being home.

And yes... I'll probably edit the photos I took at all of the other celebrations and make scrapbook pages! :) LOL!

I have been trying to go see my mom for weeks, or more like two months, as she fell and hurt herself, but the unit at her long term care was closed for visitors due to covid, then the roads were horrible for a week, I was ready to go and the unit was closed for an influenza outbreak. I got a notice it should be cleared this week, so I hope to see her soon, she is about an hour away so road conditions matter.

I was told today I was cooking a ham versus a turkey which is fine with me. I haven't really been out in months, so really have no plans, presents, or anything. else. Its hard when you are in a black hole.

So glad I don't have the coworker drama anymore.

Alexis foot hurts from the break but is walking with a brace rather than the air cast.

We don't have many holiday plans either. Eren is coming home in about a week but before then we have a musical and concert to attend. Oh, 2 concerts. That and continuing to bake cookies to give away to friends on Christmas. We put them in cute boxes and give them out after church.

Hello all. Today I had eye#2- surgery done with a Toric lens implant!
I can’t begin to mention how well I feel and how great I am seeing. This is surgery day, so recovery day 1 begins tomorrow after seeing the Ophthalmologist. And then a lot more drops! ( another 5 weeks of drops).
It’s been a long road on my vision. And not one that can wear contacts.
Officially since 1958- when I first got glasses. I was 6.
I “blamed “ it on my first grade teacher who told my parents , I couldn’t read the Bible well…. So I memorized it. … ( nothing wrong with memoizing the Bible- just saying).
then iridotomy and iridectomy closed procedures for narrow angles- to help prevent glaucoma.
F A S T. Forward to today…
feeling Blessed to be seeing amazingly great!

I'm officially on holiday vacation! Yippee! I'm taking my daughter and her grandmother to lunch today so they can exchange their Christmas gifts, then I plan to head to the gym to walk. Our high today is in the high 20s, and that's just too cold to walk outside... brrr.

Our Christmas plans with my extended family tomorrow has to be rescheduled. My SIL is sick. There is so much flu, RSV, and Covid going around in our part of the world. Hubby's dr appt got reschedulted today because his doctor is sick. So I'm glad that we can pretty much just chill out at home. I made a list of pages I want to create yet this year, and the list is long. LOL. So that should keep me busy! :)

Today would have been my mother's birthday (29th of course... it was ALWAYS her 29th birthday). So I'm planning to watch one of her favorite movies in her honor later today.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday.

Thinking of you Shana on this memory day of your mom.

It's chilly here today! We received part of the bad storms that went through the south on Wednesday, but our turn was Thursday.
Picking the g'kiddo's up from school today and taking them to Ollie's to shop [Good Stuff Cheap].
I've been doing some embroidery for Christmas gifts. Mostly towels and Free Standing lace ornaments. Along with knitting and crochet. Some scrapping. Just resting the eyes so the heal.

Holy Moley! Completed three layouts today at work. Using same kit to document our trip to Universal Studios last month.
I have enough layouts to get this month's Challenge Reward. I can't wait!

Hi everyone, Life has been busy, Mom's last eye appointment was devastating, she lost all her vision in her right eye due to glaucoma. And to top off the news, we missed our transit to take her back to the PCH. I must say that facilities to help senior and handicap persons SUCK, since we missed our ride we were considered no shows and could not reschedule for another ride. Don't you think they should have a warning or a heads up that you ride is waiting? Mom is wheelchair dependent and after several hours I was able to secure a ride from a private company. Mom is diabetic and had not eaten for at least 7 hours and was not feeling well by the time I got her back to the PCH. I will rethink our strategy for our next visit in April.

Finally on holidays just in time for the holidays, YAY me! I have been taking a few days to deep clean and purge and it feels so good to have a clean and organized home. I am all done with Christmas shopping and wrapping is on the go. Feels like Christmas this year when the yearly visit with our community Santa sleigh travels through the streets wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and pick up donations to the local food bank.

Plans for my spring adventures to London, Wales, Scotland, Paris & the Netherlands is in the works and I am getting very excited!

Had some great news yesterday, Mom is moving to "our choice" of PCH's tomorrow, she will be near us and we can visit more often that the interim one where is currently is. She moves tomorrow so perfect for Christmas visits from her friends and family.

Not too much more news, Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Monday, all!

Spent the weekend doing service projects. Saturday was spent gathering photos for the funeral of the local famer who passed. His widow needed a photo for the obituary, and all she had were really grainy pics from her cell phone. So I was able to provide a good photo for her and get it sent to the funeral home on her behalf. I forget that most people don't have the photo skills that digi scrappers have and they struggle to know how to work with and send photos. I told her I had her covered. Then we created a Smugmug for her to gather all photos of her late husband and created a link for others to upload their photos to the same album. I hope that will help her in even the smallest of ways. The funeral/memorial service probably won't be until January some time. So we'll keep checking in with her to see how she's holding up.

Yesterday, I was asked to take senior photos for some close friends. Had they asked earlier in the year, we would have chosen a warmer time of year to take the photos. But nope... we were out yesterday from 1:30 to 7:30 taking photos. We started at the zoo where there is a Japanese Garden. Not surprisingly, we had the area to ourselves. Then we went over to the Old Prairie Town when the zoo closed. Hubby brought us Starbucks to help us warm up. Then we went BACK to the zoo for their "zoo lights" event. We did take photos after sunset, but those will just be for fun, not really senior photo quality. The student was such a trooper. She's adorable and bubbly and has no idea how cute she is. She was up for anything and quickly lost her nervousness for being in front of the camera. So we had a blast, but we were ICE CUBES by the end of the night. Her folks took us all out for supper afterward, and then Randy and I fell straight into bed and slept soundly. The student is coming over on Wednesday to select her favorite photos and those will be the ones I edit. Which is good, because we took a LOT.

It's even colder today and it's raining, so I'm thrilled that I get to stay home today. I'm going to do chores, work on pages, and plan to start a pot of chili. I love lazy days like this. Hope everyone is staying warm and safe and that you all have a great week! :)
