Hi everyone! I'm back from a weekend of being radically out of my comfort zone, LOL! Watching the bands was awesome, but the crowds and the noise gave me a headache that I'm still trying to kick. But it was nice being with hubby and Eren, and we even ran into a friend from our college marching band! It was great catching up but I am glad to be home. :)

How did all of your weekends go? I hope they were awesome! :)

I also hope Lynnie pops in here soon. I hope she is doing all right.

Happy Monday to all!

Our weekend was a long baseball one!
Saturday- game 1- was interrupted by bullets flying from 'somewhere'. It was either the house outside of right field or on the street behind Center Field/ Left field. None the less, it was a bit stressful. 2 of our parents [dads] said they felt something whiz past them... and I know I saw a flash- out past center field, but not exactly sure where it came from. Police etc.... all of it was recorded on Game Changer so they could hear it, but too far away for a license plate... or to tell if the house.
[We hid both teams of kids behind a cement building- telling them,... it's like a fire drill at school. Just chill. So sad they said: Or like a stranger danger or active shooter on campus hiding]. Breaks my heart 10 years are so aware!!!

Finished Saturday - winning both games.
Moving on from that.

On to Championship Sunday- This day a single elimination.
We draw an 8:30 am start time. [seed 3 vs 6]... and win.... however game delay [different park] due to lightning! Finish that game-win.
Next game at 1:15...- win.
Championship game started at 5:15 and they lost. Plus it was cold!

4 wins; 1 loss- 2nd place! All were safe; tired but happy.

Granddaughter had a Nutcracker Tea Party! she was happy.

Michi, I remember those baseball weekends so well. Our middle kid played fastball from age 10 to 19. I used to score-keep for the home games from a lawn chair right behind the backstop. It often was cold - and wet - but I tried not to complain, because the girls were all cold and wet too, but they kept on playing anyway. She went on to play AAA ladies' fastball for part of a season. It all came to a screeching halt when she broke her dominant-side elbow and was in a full-arm cast for 2 months. She was sent home from urgent care twice, told there was no fracture. One night she was in so much pain I could hear her crying through two bedroom doors. Next morning I took her to the sports medicine clinic and insisted they get multiple views. Of course, the delay was a bad thing. She later had surgery to reposition the tendons and to debulk scar tissue.

The snow has had a dampening effect on the construction going on across the street from us. I was horrified to see the roofing crew up on top of one of the houses shoveling snow off so they could shingle. At first I couldn't see their harnesses and I was considering calling WorkSafe BC... or going out and telling them if they needed a nurse, I was home. Ended up doing neither.

Weird thing that happened on Sunday. I went to look out the window by the front door and there were three big brown shopping bags on our stoop. On closer inspection, one bag was from the McDonalds about 3 miles away and the other 2 were from A&W, 3 miles in the other direction. The McDonalds bag had a DoorDash tag on it with a time stamp about 3 hours earlier but no address. I don't know whose stuff it was, but somebody was definitely missing their breakfasts! Even weirder is that we've never been able to get delivery up here - the apps all say our postal code doesn't exist. It's a mystery!

WoW Jan- that is something about your daughter's elbow! I'm so sad that happened to her. I've kept score before, but it was many many many years ago...as in the 1970's.
I never thought about roofing in the snow. I always feel for the roofers here when it is so hot out.

People in our subdivision post all the time about getting food they did not order or vice versa. We've never done one- except just pizza delivery. Now, one Target order went to the wrong address and the neighbor brought it over.

Cold front coming in.I just ordered Bill and I sweatshirts for this weekends games.

Sylfie, Any loss is hard to deal with, but the loss of a baby is tragic. A loss like this can make life feel so bland. I hope your family is finding comfort in each other. My hugs and prayers to you.

Katherine, I admire how you keep up with your journaling. I scrape together some notes every day, but you capture the details of your life so beautifully. You have so much on your shoulders with your husband, too. Keep us posted on the mice.

Shana, I agree with what you said about losing a child. I often wonder what Chris would have been like at 50 (this year, he would have turned 50, he died at 23) or David in his late 40s (he died when he was 41). We not only mourn the loss in our lives but all the memories we don't get to have.

I hope you got pictures of you and your coworker to show the contrast after clearing the walkways. That must have been a sight.

Pics of kids with mohawks!! A scrapper's paradise.

Michi, how awful about your glasses. I am utterly blind without mine. I don't know how you are coping. Glad the cardiologist cleared you, and your eye appointment is scheduled. The story about the granddaughter and her desk sounds scrappable.

Oh my gosh, about the shooting! 2nd place sounds fantastic. I am surprised they finished that game on the day of the shooting.

When I read about you finishing a crocheted wheelchair wrap, my mind read crocheted wheelchair and went off on its own fantasy thinking about this until I reread it.

Rae, it sounds like folks are having a tough time with glasses. I have a lens that keeps falling out of mine! You take such marvelous pictures and scrap them so beautifully.

Ane, I love hearing the little snippets of your life. Despite the cold, it sounds as though you had a lovely time in Arizona. Despite the headache, it sounds as though you enjoyed the weekend with the bands.

Lily Ann, Another glasses story :) I thought I was the only one with glasses issues until I caught up on this thread. I lost mine once on holiday in Israel, in the ocean. I kept diving into the waves until I found them.

Jan, that sounds like quite a busy time with your family and the Frenchie. You are a good mother! My heart rate is all over the place. I have an appointment with the cardiologist in January. It has been this way since I had COVID.

Sherri
, I hope you are doing well. It sounds as though Alexis had a fantastic time at the convention. She is such a special young lady. I have a lot of admiration for her.

Alta, how nice that your son is hosting Thanksgiving.

Yes, I am here and doing well!

My brother had a triple bypass on 31st October, and I have been there several times to help with doctor appointments and what have you. He is doing well. He was out of the hospital in 36 hours, and his appointment nine days after the surgery, the doc said he was pleased with the extraordinary progress my brother was making. He is still taking it easy, but he is pleased with the progress. it is 2 1/2 to 3 hours each way, so I stayed over when I was visiting.

When I wasn't there, I was babysitting my grandson. His regular sitter (who watches him three days a week) suddenly went on holiday, so nana (me) was nominated to babysit. I love watching him, and they paid triple my going rate (which is nothing haha)

I got home from my brothers and picked up things from two places in order to get ready for my Daughters of the British Empire meeting. I am their Regent, so there is a ton of prep. We are having a Christmas party, so I had to pick up stuff for that, also. The meeting was yesterday and I am having a well-earned rest today, I will tell you.

Anyway, between the two places, I only spent one or two nights home in the last few weeks; hence I have not logged in at all, much less scrapped.

I did spend some time catching up on everyone's news :)

Lynnie- Happy to see you here, and a rather busy time for you for sure. Good to know you are ok. Wow-that is quick on your brothers surgery to be released from the hospital. Good for him.
I hear you on the babysitting fee. That's what I make too.

regarding the exciting baseball game...police said there was nothing they could do since no one was injured and they could not get an exact on the car from if from that house from the video. Just the sounds.

My brother had his second eye surgery yesterday and very pleased. I go for pre-op today. [and get to pay what is owed]. Plus they are doing the final measurements. I am praying for successful procedures and a morning appointment. The non eating stuff I'm not a fan of.

Here is Sarah's Ouch! page. It's non GS- Maggie has been a long time digi friend of mine.

It's supposed to be cold this weekend for baseball so I ordered sweatshirts for Bill and I. His arrived. Mine is on backorder even though Amazon Prime is still saying a one day delivery.

Welcome back, Lynnie.

Randy and I just returned from my work trip to Washington, D.C. I'm taking today and tomorrow off of work, so I've already spent the morning unpacking and doing laundry and cleaning the house. Ah the joys.

We had a great time in DC. My meeting was with the other Youth Tour Directors from approximately 40 states. We are ALL coming back in 2023 with high schoolers and we had about a million deatails to figure out. We have the big stuff hammered out for 2023, and we made progress for 2024 and 2025. Now I have a ton of work to do for our individual state tour. I will be bringing a group of 38 kids from across Kansas and Hawaii, along with six adult chaperones, and a videographer! Whoo hoo. There were some of our "usual" touristy areas that have become overun with homeless and tent cities. So I don't feel safe bringing our students to those areas at this time and have removed those locations from our tour. But there have been a couple of new museum open up and I'll be adding those into our program, instead. Now I just need to finalize the bus contracts and get contracts on all of the venues... oh and I suppose I'll need to feed the kids three times a day, too! LOL... as I still, still have a ton of work to do. :)

Michi, I just saw a newspaper article on a middle school shooting at a football game. I thought it was your story for a second, then I realized it was football and North Carolina, so probably not. I think we just need to keep spreading as much kindness as we can to everyone we possibly can! It is a scary world.

Lynnie, it's good to "see" you again! You've been through a lot in the past month, I see. I've been pretty busy, but out of town with that busy-ness. Fun busy, I guess. I wish I could be closer to my kids so I could babysit the grand. She's welcoming a little brother in May, so that is great news. :)

Next Tuesday Eren comes home for Thanksgiving. We'll have to share them with their boyfriend, but that's OK. He deserves some Eren time too, and it will be nicer since marching band is done for him and he is less busy.

I've been catching up on the sleep I lost over last weekend. Late bedtimes and early risings don't do it for me, LOL. I've just been busy with stuff- CT work, working on my course, and going out now and then. Looking forward to next week!

I caught up with everyone's chat, it has been awhile.

I have been super busy, Mom's condo sold, YAY!

Hubby had his surgery and is doing exceptionally well. Before surgery he had a hard time walking even a half a block now we took a 10 mile walk and he was tired but no pain!! Absolutely incredible but I keep warning him when he wants to lift something or overdo it with chores. With his new found energy he wants to constantly do things...have to remind him to relax some!

Getting ready for Grey Cup (CFL Football finals), big party this Sunday and we are bringing Mom for a short time, so excited that she will be able to visit family.

Maybe getting in some black Friday sales this weekend...how about you?

My son is working on our spring 2023 trip to London, France, Scotland, Wales and now added the Netherlands..so very excited every time he gives me a little update.

Taking some time for myself until after Christmas...it has been a long stretch since I have been able to do that. I am hoping to get going on some layouts, have some many new kits to use and so many pictures.

Well that's all for now, have a happy weekend!

Good morning ladies. I have been keeping busy, scrapping, dog walks, photo walks, getting back into reading again (right now it's The Perfect Couple) and tv binging. The days fly by. It's not at all what I thought retirement would be. I thought I'd be sitting around, bored to death but no, it's the opposite, I'm busier than I ever was when i worked. Go figure LOL. Having a mini aussie pup has a lot to do with keeping me busy. Remi is a fantastic girl but she needs a lot of attention, training and exercise. Taz is really starting to slow down (turned 9 this year) so he isn't coming out for the hikes and walks as much now. He wants to stay home and snuggle in my hubs' lap, in his lazyboy couch.

Lynnie - you too are always busy. Glad to hear your brother is recovering well from the surgery.

Shana - you too have been very busy.

Hope everyone is well and I'll pop in again soon to say hi. HAGD everyone.

I have the day off! Grandson Bruce is with his other grandmother today. It was unexpected, so I had nothing planned today. I thought I might actually scrap :) I went for a long walk this morning and worked on straightening out my office. My grandson, Mark, is staying with us temporarily and it serves as his room, so I mostly just pile things on my desk. I went through everything I had piled up and put things away, made a pile of shredding and things to take care of. It took a while, but it needed doing. It needs a bit of dusting, too, but I'll get to that later this week. I can't disrupt Mark too much.

Good morning, all! This was my first day back in the office in over a week since I was on business travel last week. I came in extra early to get caught up on emails, print my travel reports, etc… only to have our entire area of town lose power! LOL! So now I’m sitting in my office in the dark listening to all of the battery backups singing their songs of anguish to the morning dawn. Oh my. How is you Monday going?

I am so tired today; not sure why, but I walked about 4 1/2 miles and can't seem to get on top of my energy; I have been walking between 5 and 8 miles with enthusiasm. It generally takes me 90 minutes to do 5 miles. Today, after 2 hours, I had not hit five yet. I just want to go back to sleep, and I got plenty last night.

Took hubby to urgent care this morning. Well, I went with him and sat in the waiting room. Not sure why he wanted me with him. I was of no use, and I certainly wasn't a happy bundle of energy. He had an x-ray on his elbow, and the doc says there is a lot of inflammation and suspects a hairline fracture, but he is not certain. He will have to make an appointment with his regular doc to check again when the inflammation goes down. Anyway, with the holidays coming up, it means I am doing the bulk of the work since he can't lift. He is falling apart physically, and he has always been such a rock.

Are all the US folks in the throws of Thanksgiving Prep! I know we are. We transferred all the Thanksgiving stuff (large tablecloths, napkins, etc.) to my son's house with the thought that we would be holding big family meals there from now on. However, that Thanksgiving was a hysterical disaster (I think I scrapped it, if not, I should) involving "What do you mean you have to defrost the turkey," tripped breakers, wires everywhere, late people, lack of dishes, and a hundred other funny things. The "What do you mean you have to defrost the turkey" was the funniest.

The long and the short of it is no one could find the tablecloths, napkins, or napkin rings. SO, this year I re-purchased them. The funny thing was that I purchased two large red tablecloths and two large hunter-green tablecloths. It is funny because I already own 14 large red tablecloths; I wasn't thinking.

Today I am sewing new napkins. I also have to add names to two stockings for people picking up their gifts at Thanksgiving. My husband wants to give them stockings with their names and custom decorations. I am also making place name tags (took a five-minute break here on Pinterest and got TOTALLY sidetracked). It will be a full day.

Anything exciting going on at your place?

That is so hilarious, "what do you mean we have to defrost the turkey?"! We've had a few similar mishaps here, but I think we've always remembered the turkey, lol!

Eren comes in today, so I have been preparing the house for that. It's just going to be the 3 of us for Thanksgiving, with all our usual dishes. I'm in charge of making the cranberry sauce and the pies, plus being a sous chef for whatever else hubby needs. Should be a nice day outside too- in the 60's! So crazy, this weather!

Friday we'll resume our usual tradition of seeing a movie on Black Friday. Saturday is Eren's day with their boyfriend, and Sunday is when they head back home. But they get about 3 weeks for winter break, so I'm not complaining too much. :)

I am going to my youngest sons new home for Thanksgiving, They are doing everything. So this girl gets to relax. It's 2 hours away so will have to travel a little bit, but I am not driving, which is really nice, I don't drive much anymore, makes me nervous. I am riding up with the in-laws. The weather is suppose to be really good, I am Thankful for that. Looking forward to seeing the kids. And of coarse looking forward to the turkey and dressing! LOL We will also go to the festival of lights. And then I will come home and rest up for a couple days. The grands always wear me out!... But I will enjoy the time with them so much. I don't do the Black Friday shopping... Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving... Will stop in again soon!

LOL Lynnie!

Tomorrow, we are celebrating with Randy's family. His step-mom really works hard to create an amazing spread. But she puts so much pressure on herself that she is usually cranky by the time the family arrives. Her time-task management is not the best. We are supposed to have dinner at 3 p.m. tomorrow... so if we eat by 5 p.m., we'll be doing good. We've started bringing a cheese and fruit platter with crackers for the rest of the family to munch on while she's getting dinner ready. We've all asked her to scale back and just enjoy the family visiting, but to no avail. We've offered to host the event or to even have it as a pot luck or to have it catered, but she won't entertain those ideas. (Randy's brother suggested we just have Thanksgiving at IHOP - a pancake restaurant). So... yeah... that will be tomorrow's entertainment to watch her stress out in the kitchen.

On Saturday, we celebrate with my side of the family at my brother's house. He'll throw steaks on the grill, my SIL will make a couple of sides and order some pies and done. We'll spend most of our time playing card games and I'll take their annual family photos. It's a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Ah... family and the holidays!

Lacy, Kolten and I are going up to visit my mom today. She's not doing well. We're moving her to memory care after Thanksgiving. We finally sold the house. Lots of changes there.

Then Lacy, Nick and Kolten are hosting Thanksgiving for our family tomorrow. Everyone is bringing something. They're providing the turkey, so I'm sure we won't have any trouble with any "What do you mean you have to defrost the turkey" moments. They deep-fry it outside. Nick loves his deep-fryer! Okay. It tastes amazing. We're in charge of green bean casserole, corn, and pumpkin pies. (and shrimp for the apps)

Y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We already celebrated Thanksgiving (Canada) and it was small but nice. Youngest son away so just my oldest son and family. I visited the extended family last weekend for Grey Cup (again Canada CFL). It was really nice, I brought Mom out and she enjoyed seeing everyone but it was a little overwhelming for her.

Just doing some Black Friday shopping tis week, got a few great deals already!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and your families!

Take care until next time.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. As Karen said, us Canadians have already had our Thanksgiving. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Saturday everyone.

My eye #1 on Tuesday November 22 went well with the cataract surgery. The extreme amount of astigmatism was more than the dr. thought until he was in there. Apparently I have very odd shaped eye balls. It does feel strange not putting glasses on. I see very well with one eye but not the other - even though they removed the lens on a pair where the new eye sees. They don't work together.
I'm not driving yet, as not comfortable with 2 different eyes.

Thanksgiving was lovely at our daughter's house. Yesterday the g'kiddo's came over to assist with Christmas decorating.

Hello everyone... I had a nice time at my youngest sons for Thanksgiving. The weather was very nice so the kids got to play outside some, while dinner was cooking. Then we all ate to much...but the food was good... Then we all went to the Christmas Village, so got to do a lot of walking after eating so much... LOL It was a good day.
When I got home my sister called, my great niece is pregnant, but is having a lot of issues, my sister said there is a high chance that she will loose the baby. So would like those of you that pray to say a pray for her, her name is Faith. It is her first pregnancy, and the doctors are not sure she will ever be able to carry a baby to term. She is not handling it well at all. My heart is breaking for her. So we could use all the prayers we can get.
I am trying to get some rest the trip up to my sons and then the busy time with the grandchildren sure wore this girl out. So today I am being LAZY... LOL Might work on a layout or 2 tonight... and watch Christmas movies on Great American Family.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Be back soon!

Hi everyone. Hope your all having a good week. It's been a sad week here... My niece ended up loosing the baby. My heart is breaking for her. She will probably never be able to have a child. Please keep her in your prayers, she is having a hard time dealing with it all... I wish I could help in some way.
I had to go grocery shopping and fill the car up with gas. So a little tired. I just don't enjoy grocery shopping anymore, never know what I want... But at least the weather was nice, which is why I went today. We are suppose to get snow tomorrow.
Well I will try and stop in again soon. Going to try and scrap a little... Till next time :hi

Alta, I'm so sorry about your niece! Losing a baby is hard, no matter how far along the baby is. I lost one near full term almost 20 years ago, so I know how she feels. Many prayers coming her way!

We sent Eren back to school on Sunday, so now I'm kind of languishing in post-holiday "meh." Our December calendar is already filling up and my introverted self is screaming inside, LOL! Anyone else have their December filling up like crazy?

I am so sorry Alta.

I took Alexis to the Red Cross today to return the loaners of equipment when she broke her foot. Roads are icy but not as bad as I thought they would be.

Anyone buy anything interesting on sale from the weekend? I bought myself a puffy vest and fleece sweater for under it. My old puffy just wasnt keeping me warm anymore. Landsend had them on sale. Even with the exchange it was a good deal.
Other than that nothing.
