I thought we should do a fresh thread each month to keep it in hand. It is so great getting to know everyone a little more. Any big plans coming up? I have a wedding in June and a wedding in September, but they are still a little far out.

I have lots going on in May:
  • This weekend, there is a Royal Wedding Lunch in honour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I have been making hats (fascinators!). I need to do a layout on how ridiculous the hats are, but they are certainly fun!!
  • Fabulous with my brother and his significant other. Dave, Teri, my mum and I go out to this really lovely restaurant for special occasions, we are really looking forward to it.
  • Wedding veil shopping with my niece, Madi and also with my best friend and her daughter (who is my daughter's best friend!) Two weddings, two veils :)
  • More hat making for a Faire in June. I belong to the Daughters of the British Empire and we do all kinds of fun stuff for a faire that happens every June. It is a lot of work, but worth it.
  • Mother's day, of course.
  • Memorial Day weekend! Now I am on a 32 hour week, I will get a FOUR DAY WEEKEND! That is so awesome.
  • Plus, two Saturdays I run the Village Memory Makers - a scrapbooking and papercrafting club, in the village where I live. (It is a retirement village of 18000 people!)

What's going on in YOUR life in May?

Oh, lots going on here too. Hoping the CT scan turns up something so I can get rid of this darn pain (and it just might be related to not enough scrapping!). There are a bunch of DD's activities going on too- concerts, end of school year stuff, 8th grade graduation . . . fun stuff like that. And I'm going camping for 6 days for some advanced Boy Scout training. Yes, I am pretty nuts, but hubby has been waiting for years for me to do this, LOL.

May is the last month where I will willingly go outside. I live in Vegas. From June to October it's 7 inches from the mid day sun hot. I'm doing my gardening and outside fun. LOL

I am convinced it must be the scrapping - start immediately :) If you MUST camp, take internet with you and take lots of pictures!

Oh my goodness, it does get hot in Las Vegas. We used to spend a lot of time there when my daughter was dancing, that was where all the competitions were. I hated it when the kids wanted to go outside to swim. I am not a sun person at the best of times and I hate the heat... HATE the heat.

Me too, but I'm slowly adjusting. 80 used to kill me, now about 95 I start complaining.

Lynnie - you have a lot to keep you busy!! I am really looking forward to May. Here in Kansas we have had one of the coldest April's on record! Today was finally nice and 80 degrees and it helped my mood so much! Kiddos get out of school the 18th and then we are free to live the simple life outside! can't wait!

Not much going on in May for me - but I had a good day today, I had a knee replacement 5 months ago, and as of today was FINALLY discharged from physical therapy!! I'm so darn excited I bought cookies for my co-workers to celebrate! I have been in PT for over a year now, minus a few months when it was apparent the arthritis was so bad nothing but the surgery would help.

Here in Central Wisconsin we just had our coldest AND snowiest April on record!!!

The weather has been all over this place this winter, hasn't it! Snow one day, sunbathing the next, practically in some areas.

That is such a long time! I am so glad you are doing much better, though.

I am so sleepy today, I have been trying to hunt down our company nap room. I have not been able to find it. Maybe we don't have one - we should!

I have been working on making hats for this Royal Wedding Lunch we (the Daughters of the British Empire) are having on Saturday. The hats are all done except for the little piece that can be clipped or pinned to the hair or headband. I am working on that. Last night a lady called to ask for a hat for a drawing they are having - so I was scrambling to finish it so she could pick it up at 5 this morning. Well, I had this really bright idea that instead of using the hats (fascinators) for the centerpieces, we could sell them and I could make miniature ones for the centerpieces that vaguely resemble wedding cakes, so I started on that... Mind, I did not start until after 9 and I have to be up at 4:30. I have a friend who says "You should just say NO!" I have to continually point out that no one ever asks me to do these things - they are always my own ridiculous ideas. Well, to be fair, it was not my idea to make hats - I am not sure how well they will sell, but once the decision was made to sell them and people got together to make them, we realized that I was the only one who could actually put one together. So I have been making hats since then, a few weeks back. I have made about 20, but it has not taken as long as I expected.

Ramble ramble ramble.

Anyone else do any crafts outside scrapping?

Yay!!! Our backyard is nearly done!! We have our pavers in, the trees, and some patio furniture. We have planters on the way, then we need to buy Japanese Boxwood plants and Star Jasmine, plant them and then it's DONE except for the lighting!

Too bad I don't have a lap top anymore...I'd love to be on the patio scrapping!!!

And yes, our backyards are TEENY and so close up to the other houses. It is what it is.

I do crafts besides scrapping. Sometimes i make paper cards, or work on a sewing project with DD, or bead with DD. I crosstitch on occasion too. I have a sampler I need to do for DD. I bought it before she was born and she's now 14, LOL!

I did my CT scan this morning, and it wasn't bad. The stuff they gave me to drink was all right. I also scheduled my first mammogram and an annual exam for the same day next week. Am I out of my mind? Yes, probably have been for years.

I've seen pictures, Susan, it looks fantastic, it really does. I think you will really enjoy sitting out there. You must be thrilled, it sounds as though the renovation has been going on a while.

Ane, I do a lot of stuff, too. I love crafting and I get so energized and inspired. I used to do tons of cross stitch. I just gave all my supplies to my daughter. She was thrilled. She is on tour now with Peppa pig and her bus came through town, so she loaded all the crafting supplies I gave her on the bus. It will drop her off in Nashville when the tour is finished. They are in Canada now and have been for weeks. I gave her a Cricut, a Cuddlebug, hundreds of rubber stamps, paper, cross stitch supplies and I don't know what else. The funny thing is, she lives in a studio apartment with a room mate, Emily. Emily is on tour in Australia, I think, with Imagine Dragons. They go for months without crossing paths, depending on the tours they are on, but I am not sure how Em will feel to come home to their studio apartment taken over by a crafting dragon!

Glad the CT scan went well. Hopefully the results are great and all your symptoms will go away :)

Good luck with the CT scan. I hope you find out what the pain is. BSA - Are you doing Wood Badge? I have loved all my years in the BSA from cubs all the way up to Venturing. I went to Wood Badge back in 2010 I think it was.

I am beginning to wonder if you ever sleep, Lynnie! Just reading what you have going on for May and then your hat making adventures at midnight make me want to go take a nap. No wonder you were wandering around at work looking for the nap room. :)

My answer to your question is no. I don't do anything crafty anymore other than digital scrap. I used to but haven't in many moons.

Yes! I am doing Wood Badge! I've been involved in Scouting since my oldest was 7. He's 21 now, and both my boys are Eagles. <3

I am still looking for the nap room, wandering aimlessly, lost and without tea! What shall I do, what shall I do :)

I do not get enough sleep. Even when I go to bed early, my mind is on overtime. The sad thing is that nobody asks me to do this things, generally, they are all my own idea. I love doing it all. I think I would thrive if I did not have to work. I am looking forward to retiring one of these days. It may be a little while, though...

Just wanted to stop in & say hi,
I have been super busy with work & kids sports & somewhere in there I had a birthday as well
Looking forward to a quieter week next week & hopefully I can get some scrapping time, haven't scrapped since I had to drop out of scrapping survivor.
My 3 older kids have started to do umpire training for AFL so we now have no afternoons without some sort of sport.
Had to swap my gym sessions over to 6.30am & winter is starting to kick in here in oz so it has been chilly on those mornings but also very motivating for me. I know this part of our lives will be over as soon as we blink but it has been an exhausting few weeks, hope to come up for air again soon
xx take care all

I have this image of you wandering about a cubicle office looking for a nap room........ Kinda giggling now.

I think I used to do that "take on too much" when I was younger and had more energy for creative things. Not much time for creative these days so I feel like I can barely manage the required CT stuff. I wish I had more time to devote to what I love to do. I gotta figure out how to quit a job or two. Actually in two years when my soccer player is graduated then I can quit my jobs. Now that puts a smile on my face. Oh but then I will miss the soccer. Dang it!

It does seem like we blink and all the craziness of raising kids is over. Seems like there is a lot of "what would I have done differently, or better" going on in my mind as of late.

I am so disappointed today. My whole entire house x4 people have a nasty spring cold. I can't even go visit my mom, she is alone in the hospital on Mother's Day

My son asked if I wanted to go to Arizona with him in his big rig. He is going to where my daughter's family lives. I told him I would go with him. Then he got a load back home earlier than he thought he would, so I stayed here in Arizona hoping he comes back next week. Having a lot of fun with lots of photos to scrap with when I have the time to catch up on scrapping.

So sorry to hear that Sherri! I hope your family feels better soon! (((HUGS)))

I had a pretty good Mother's day. Got some flowers and some chocolate, plus homemade pizza and ice cream for dinner. Yay!

I'm new here but figured I would just jump on in. :) I have an exciting time coming up for me because I am graduating in June with my degree in Health Informatics and Information Management, and my father is flying in from Australia to be at my graduation ceremony! I haven't seen him since Christmas 2016, so I'm really looking forward to spending some time with him. :)
