Good luck with your job interview. Haven't had an interview in about 15 years as I work for myself nowdays but you don't forget the pre-interview nerves.
School holidays here in oz so I haven't had a much time to get in here as I am trying to work & kids wrangle as well

It's awfully quiet in here! What's everyone up to? My kids went back to their Dad on Friday, so it is just me and our dog until next Friday. I'm nervous about my job interview tomorrow!

I'm finally getting back here after my dad's visit from Australia. He left yesterday, so now I'll be getting back into things....or that's the plan!

Something exciting going on for me is that on Monday I have my first job interview since graduating from college last month....I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

Then, the week after that we will be at Disneyland! Lynnie I'm so looking forward to meeting you and having you as our tour guide!

I am excited to meet up with you, Sarah. We will have a great time. Good luck with the job interview. You will be great.

It has been quiet on the site. I have felt quite lonely some days...

It is quiet in here! Is everyone on vacation/holiday or something?

Yesterday I helped clean out church building then took DD to and picked her up from her piano lesson. After that I just kinda chilled the rest of the day. Hubby was the busy one LOL. Today we had church but later I have a Boy Scout meeting. Joy of joys!

I have scrapped quite a bit and watched TV in the cool of my air conditioned home.

Me too. It's a 'have to', and now I've added yoga and tai chi!'
m

How do you ever find time to scrap!

I found the dr's just wanted to keep giving me tablets too take the pain away. I don't do tablets at the best of times & since I had my gall bladder out, I struggle even more as some pain killers upset my stomach quite badly now. Since I found my physio, I have had less pain & only take pain killers or anti inflammatories if the pain gets too much. The physio has given me stretches to do at home & we work on strengthening up on gym days. Its been making a huge difference for me & I'm down another kilo too

My orthopedic surgeon wanted to send me to a pain management clinic (think drugs!) He thought it was all in my head, I think. I insisted on an MRI, which revealed a crack in my shoulder and some damage. Then I got physical therapy. I am holding grudges still and it was last November :)

I think it went fairly smoothly, but there are other applicants still to interview so we will see how it goes. I was there a total of 1.5 hours, and the interview itself went for about 45 minutes because we spent the first part of it chatting about random stuff to catch up. Then the last 45 minutes was a medical terminology test as well as them giving me a thick stack of papers, saying it was a medical record and for me to find everything wrong with it. When I was done everyone wanted a few minutes to say hi and catch up because I had been there for my internship last April. Fingers crossed I get it...will likely find out next week while at Disney!

It is always a plus that you worked there as an intern. If you did a great job then, they will know you now :)

We recently moved a thousand mile from PA and it was so so tiring. I'm just glad it's over now and we have set up the internet but we need to call the customer service because the code wasn't working. Then we had a good heavy rain four days after we move and now I'm trying to finish unboxing all our stuff. Now I'm slowly getting back to scrapping. Good thing it's summer already

It feels as though you never get settled in, doesn't it! Glad the move is through and you are back on the threads here. Hopefully you will be able to scrap about the move, heaven knows there are a few moving kits in the stores these days :)

I am Jen Crook and after several years on the store CT, I had to scale WAY back because I took my first real grown-up job outside the home last fall teaching second grade. I have spent 23 years at home raising our four kids and have been blessed to only have only worked "for fun" for most of my life. Thank heavens for hubby and his dedication to providing for our family. ANYWAY, I took the teaching gig and job-share. I teach mondays, Tuesddays, and every other Wednesday. I still easily spend 40 hours working each week. I don't know how full time teachers do it, I know they put in 60-80 hours a week. That said, my scrapping has gone way down this past year. I hope that this next year won't be as bad as I won't feel so "blind" not knowing what I am doing at work. Maybe I can leave work at work more this year. That's my goal.

I thought I would have so much more time in the summer to play catch up and get some pages done but I haven't really made any headway because we have been traveling so much. I have spent the whole last week in my classroom decorating which has been fun but definitely time consuming. I am kind of panicking that there is only 6 more weeks of summer vacation. Where has the time gone? We still have a lot of playing to do!

Goodness, Jen, it sounds as though you have your hands full! I hope you get loads of time to scrap and get caught up. There have been a few times where I had to scale back in my life, but I generally just find my life as full with other things :) Glad you have joined this thread, the more the merrier.

What's everyone got planned for the weekend?

Me, I'm headed over to our church to help clean it again, then pick up DD from a camp she's been at all week. We'll probably go out to a movie after that. Sunday we'll just have church then enjoy some nice, calm family time together. :)

Busy weekend planned - sort of:
  • Today
    • Weight Watchers (lost 1.4 lbs)
    • Dentist, filling replaced
    • Paperwork to the retirement village for the Village Memory Makers (Scrapbooking and Papercrafting Club) that I manage. I have to turn in a roster every year and I was late.
    • Trip to Lifeway Bible Book Store for some odds and ends we needed.
    • Furniture shopping - we have a few ideas on what we want now.
    • Cleaned fridge, cooked dinner.
    • Booked room for my mother's 90th birthday party
  • Saturday
    • Village Memory Makers from 8-2.
    • Clean house
    • Son Steven coming over
  • Sunday
    • Church
    • Plan trip to Tucson in August
    • Pay bills
  • Monday (It is a very long weekend for me :) YAY!)
    • As little as possible - mostly scrap, I think.

Today is my youngest son's 11th birthday (yes, he was actually born on Friday the 13th!).

Tomorrow is laundry and packing day.

Sunday we head to Disneyland!! The kids still have no idea where we are going, just that we are going on vacation and on a plane.

Monday I get to meet Lynnie who is going to be our personalized Disneyland tour guide!

2 weeks of winter school holidays ended here yesterday afternoon with an ambulance ride for my eldest son.
He took a hard tackle during his footy game, broke his collar bone when he landed, could hear it snap he said & he was screaming & a kid on the opposing team then jumped on him. He is devastated to be out for the rest of the season/finals & also misses out on the final trials for the south coast to make the team. I have spent the morning cancelling his umpire training & gym & trying to organise work from his teachers as he got 3 new teachers for this term. I feel horrible for him but been trying to keep positive as he is on the selectors radar now so bigger & stronger for next year

That is terrible ! How sad that the kid from the other team jumped on him to make it worse. It sounds as though he has quite a recovery ahead of him. You certainly have your hands full, as though you did not already have enough to deal with. I hope you can get in some relaxing time in between the chaos.

My daughter had her 18th Birthday on the 12th. Since she is still recovering from several surgeries we kept it small at home and had a cake. Poor kid just can't catch a break, doctors are watching one of her incisions for infection. She is still in a bunch of pain.

I have to take my mom to her doctor tomorrow.

The rest of the week seems to be one thing after another.

Met up with Sarah (Sillz) at Disneyland on Monday - we had such a lovely time. Her children are wonderful. One was not feeling well, so I took the other on a few rides and we really enjoyed ourselves. It is fabulous to meet up with our GS friends in real life. I am hoping to see them again tonight, but it all depends on how soon I get home from picking up my mother. If I would get to Disneyland too late, it would not be worth the drive - in California traffic :)

YAY friends!

I think you may have changed your mind about that at this point. LOL :)

HaHa! Not at all. They are sweethearts :) I hope you are kicking your feet up and relaxing after all that traveling and walking in the heat :) It was amazing meeting you and I had a lovely time. I am so glad we got the chance to get together.

How did everyone's weekend go? Saturday we helped clean our church again, then went shopping. After that, we had a church pool party.. I didn't get in and swim, but DD did. I mainly consumed carbonated fruit- has anyone else had that?

Sunday was pretty chill, we just went to church and came home. Since hubby and I are the choir directors, we picked music for the next few months. Then we watched our new TV obsession, Cloak and Dagger. It's a very interesting adaptation of a comic book series.

I had a busy weekend...Friday I got home late from work and relaxed, I knew I was going to need it...

Saturday my niece and her mother (Sheri, my ex-SIL whom I adore!) and we worked on stuff for Madi's wedding - We got all the favours made, her veil rhinestoned, the dinner napkins and table cloths cut out. It is a smaller wedding - about 120 people, so it was not a huge job, but took a long time. I have to sew the napkins tonight, because her MIL-to-be (Denise) and I are monogramming them next Saturday. I also collected together the pictures for her wedding video. Denise is bringing the ones of Matt growing up on Saturday when she comes. We also took my 21-year old grandson out to lunch. We are taking him to Arizona to stay with family in August and I want to do a lot with him while he is still here.

Sunday I went to church. It was my job to run the coffee shop (I do about twice a month) between services. Then after last service there was a Special voters' meeting. I had to stay, I am on the leadership board :) I have to say we have a wonderfully participating membership. They ask all the hard questions and work through them as a congregation and I love that.

My son, Steven, came over Sunday and we visited and I worked on stuff I needed to get done, pictures uploaded, layouts completed, bills paid, house cleaned, etc. It was a short weekend. I usually have three days, but I switched days last weekend so I could spend Monday with Sarah and her kids. I was not ready to come back to work today.

Been a pretty hectic week trying to look after my son & his collar bone - got not a lot done as he was still so sore we had to help him shower etc. He has bounced back this week & gone to school after a catch up on the weekend with his best friend.
We had a few footy games to go to but I ended up staying home with our youngest who had been up all night unwell. I sometimes hate the ability of children to bounce back after a lack of sleep, he was bounding around like a rabbit the next day & I was exhausted.
I really just want to rest today but I have to finalise our taxes so we can lodge our returns & then get a heap of artwork out to clients & also prep for a coaches meeting we have tonight after training. Hoping I can clear it all today so tomorrow is a bit of a break before our next big wave of work & sport commitments

Ours was a fun yet crazy long weekend. I worked my tail off on Thursday so that we could leave Friday morning for a soccer tournament in Colorado. Tournament was a lot of fun. Team has only been together since the middle of June and they beat CO teams ranked 14th and 18th, and those teams are a year older than ours. We took 2nd overall but that is such a huge accomplishment. Sad though that they only gave out cheap sunglasses and not medals. Even the team that took first only got a baseball hat. Some tournaments are really fun and others aren't. This one will not be ranked up there very high on my list.

Other than soccer games, my husband and I went to a pro rodeo, took a gondola up the mountain and hiked around for the afternoon, waited out a thunderstorm on an observation deck overlooking the valley, went to an outdoor concert, ate snowcones and yummy burgers and came home with a wicked case of allergies.

Today I worked my butt off again getting ready to leave on Wednesday for yet another tournament but this time it is just an hour east of us in Park City, UT. It will be heavenly getting out of the heat of the valley.

Sometimes I think we are overachievers - we certainly don't sit on our behind and do nothing!

Well Lynnie - That is for sure but I think you accomplish more in your 24 hours than I do. I love the saying "My get up and go, got up and went." It is just too dang hot to do much of anything. I will be so happy when September gets here and it cools off a bit. I was just reading about SAD and it being a real thing in the summer, not just fall/winter. I am not a very happy person when it is hot.

I don't do well in the heat either. I love mild weather with light occasional drizzle. I love early morning walks with my dog when the weather is not too cold and not muggy.

Not sure how much I accomplish WELL, though :)

What's everyone got planned for the weekend? Me, I'm off to help clean my church building again and taking DD shopping. Hubby is away watching our oldest graduate from Air Force Basic. Then I'm gonna worry a bit more about his wedding in less than 2 weeks. Yikes! Sunday is church and hanging out with DD until hubby gets home that night. It's going to be a long 2 days, that's for sure! :D

A wedding in 2 weeks??!! And you aren't stressing? Congrats on the graduation. That is so very awesome. Don't you just love cleaning the church? My son is 17 and I think the last time he came with us to do it was about 10 years ago. Hahaha. It is usually the empty nesters that seem to do it most often. Oh, and my husband since I don't do mornings and they always seem to want to do it Saturday mornings at 8am.

As for me and this weekend, I am getting the laundry done from too many days gone to soccer tournaments, cleaning up all the messes from all of us just dumping stuff over the last 10 days and getting myself ready for a crazy 3 days at work. Changing over computer systems is not going to be fun.

Sounds like a lovely weekend. I am stressing on a wedding that is months away! I am so impressed that you sound fairly relaxed about a wedding that is coming up so quickly.

Big Hug, Heidi. Computer systems changes are agony. I work with people who are changing them from time to time and it gives every side the equation a headache!

Me, as always had a busy weekend, busy week in fact!

Tuesday:
  • Out with friend, Pam. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant and wandered around looking for furniture for her place after her son, wife and baby move out.
Wednesday;
  • Dinner with mother and baby brother, then out with brother to see "Million Dollar Quartet." If it comes to your area, you should definitely go!
Thursday:
  • New furniture delivered and living room rearranged to accommodate it
  • Daughter's boyfriend came and cooked dinner for me (homemade bread, corn chowder and an amazing salad) and watch movies. She is in Nashville, so he was missing her and I think he is working on impressing me. I like him a lot. I hope things work out for her.
Friday:
  • Working on mum's 90th birthday party. Mostly her story, inserting answers she had given me to questions, researching what she told me to get supporting pictures, etc.
  • Worked on nieces's wedding that is coming up in September.
  • Did some digiscrapping and posting
  • Cooked home made lasagna and made a tasty salad for dinner
Saturday
  • Village Memory Makers Scrapbooking and Papercrafting club (I run it!) 9-2
  • Took grandson for eye exam and glasses
  • Went to Michael's for crafting supplies
  • Went to brother's concert choir reunion (h/s classes 70-85, I think). They get together every few years, all classes under one director, and they put on an amazing show. The retired director flies out from Texas for them.
  • Went home and stitched dinner napkins for nieces wedding and cut out the monograms on foil heat transfer paper on my silhouette.
  • Stitched until 3am.
Sunday:
  • Skipped church, too much going on. Perhaps I should have gone and prayed for extra hours :)
  • Cleaned house for my niece and future mother-in-law. It needed cleaning. They probably would not care that much, but it is always a good excuse to get things clean.
  • Stitched dinner napkins until they arrived
  • They weeded and trimmed the monograms, then applied them with my heat press. They looks amazing.
  • After they were done, my husband and I met a friend and went to see a Beatles cover band called "Paperback Writer." They were fun to listen to.

I do these posts to help me get caught up on my Project 52 scraps, which I have not started for 2018, haha.
