Election Day!

Let's see who did their civic duty and voted today? Hubby and I did before we left for vacation. We didn't trust the mail, so we dropped them off in person. No need to express who you voted for, because I know it is a passionate subject to many, so just let me know if you voted.

I don't live in the United States, so I'm not voting in the current American election, but I have voted in every single Canadian election since I turned 18. Even when we lived in Europe we sent in our ballots (we were still factual residents of Canada, so were eligible to vote). I've also voted in every provincial election since age 18 as well. There are a few municipal elections I've missed, but not a single federal or provincial one.

I voted!

I early voted and beat the crowds! LOL

My 8 year old is so excited for today, although he is already in bed now. He woke up this morning and said "Mom! I'm so excited, today we get a new president for the first time!"

Keep in mind, he is 8. All he has known is Obama, haha! I explained to him that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were also presidents, and he said "Yeah, but we are getting a new President in AMERICA!" hehe

I voted a couple weeks ago at my city hall because for our big city we only have ONE voting venue and it is a circus trying to park and the lines are out the door all day long, and I certainly can't take a day off from work to vote.

OMGoodness! That's hilarious, Michelle!!!

And I voted!!! The polls were busier than I'd ever seen them!

Here in Australia, our voting is always held on a Saturday. There are pre-poll voting venues set up around the town for several weeks prior to the voting day and those are open week days for people who will be away or working or for whatever reason they are unable to vote on the day. Voting is also compulsory. I was most surprised by the result of yesterday's US election I have to say, given the results of the recent polls. Interesting times ahead.
