Do you stare at a page for a while?

Are you like me and when a page just isn't coming together, you stare at it for a while? I stare at it, then I dink with it some more? I am finding that it is typically a paper that just isn't the right one. Once I figure that out, then it "feels" right to me. I can't be the only one. Am I?

No, you are definitely not the only one. Sometimes I get up and walk away from my computer for a bit then come back to it later. And interestingly enough, the problem is usually a paper for me too!

Hahaha. I always stare at my page after I think I am done with it. I usually try to add a few elements, delete it, play with a cluster or a paper layer, etc. My pages never really come together very quickly and very rarely end up looking anything like the original template, unless it has to. But in the end I always love it or it gets tossed and I begin again. I don't save anything I don't like.

Me too.
Sometimes it helps if I scrap it inside my head first. Then go to the computer.

You are so brave. I can't imagine tossing it away! I am such a slow scrapper, it would take me even longer.

I swear this happens Every. Single. Time. Or, after I have printed them!
I am trying really really hard to remember to do: Edit > Check Spelling on every page.
My added excuse is I often have a grandchild on my lap who pushes a key or 2.

You can always add a note on the page afterwards which grandchild pushed which key :)

I stare - a lot.

I have a folder called "work in progress" If it doesn't come together in an hour or so I throw it in there and work them in no particular order. I have pages in there from a year ago and from this week. Sometimes a new kit makes all the difference or sometimes my brain was too tired to work on something I was trying to force out.

How come I have never thought to spell check??? It never occurred to me!

Cool idea... a work in progress folder. I might make one of those and when I start to stare at it too long... off you go!

Haha! I do that too, stare at my page to find what is wrong. I usually find it to be the paper/s too, and then the shadow on my elements. Then when I'm done and have posted my page already, I will see that there's a typo on my journaling, hehe :(

I do too. My Poor hubby often ends up critiquing for me. although he usually nods and smiles unless he really hates it or i say i hate it too and he will give me an honest opinion...

Oh, your hubby. I love how he waits to give you his opinion. I should send my husband over for lessons! :)

If a page isn't going together I will either take a break for 10min or scrap another page and get back to it, lucky this doesn't happen very often :)

This happens on almost every page I do. Sometimes I have a vision of how I want the page to look and it ends up completely different! It is a slow process and one reason why I can't do the speed scrap, lol! I have started and scrapped (ie-trashed) a page so many times and then when I revisit the photos with a fresh eye, things come together. This is the one thing I love about digital scrapping. And I do try to remember the Spell Check!

I do this all the time with templates. When it's just not clicking I save and walk away or start rotating everything. For some reason when I'm scrapping and I have elements and such to play with it's much easier for me.

I think that has happened to us all. I have often posted a layout see the same, a typo, or a stray element I forgot to delete, or words going over the top of an element. I can proof all I want. I think these things have a wicked sense of humour and a life of their own - they wait to come out until I have posted.

My kids will give me a pretty honest opinion and my husband critiques something to death if he is in it. It would take me 20 times longer to do a page if I let him have a say. And he is not generally right :) The kids though will say things like "Why put too much frufru stuff in - we just want to see the pictures. Or they will say "that's a random piece of word art, what does it even mean on this page." They are often right. Dang it.

Your pages seem to come together perfectly every time. I love your scrapping.

Me too! I can do a speed scrap, but the pages are never my favourite. My actual layouts are never the vision I see. I wish I could achieve those masterpieces of scrapping, but they never happen. I am working on one now that is frustrating me to death. I have wanted to do it for a while, but I can't make it happen. I am not going to let go until it does, though. I am passionate about finishing it.

Your templates are pretty amazing, I don't know how you come up with so many and they are so different.

Seeing your pages in the gallery, I would never even think this, I figure they just flow perfectly put together right out of that creative brain of yours!

I'm just not a "speed" person, 5-6 miles over the speed limit is about it, I can't even do games with timers. The only thing I can do speedy, is dusting. I despise it so much, the faster it's done the better.

You make me laugh!

I stare at mine a lot! The thing I have most problem with is checking the spelling, punctuation etc of journaling. I really don't feel a page is complete withing telling the story, but by the time I do that i am so over it all. Thank goodness dh is an amazing proofreader!

I hate when a page isn't looking right & yeah I stare at it for ages, then I close it for a bit & work on something else & come back to the page & see if I can change something so I am happy with it

Sometimes stepping away is the best thing. Sometimes I just put them in a folder marked "Not finished" and then come back MONTHS later and wonder why I never finished it. :)

For me, its also typically paper combinations. I start with papers and then do elements. I rearrange papers a LOT when I am creating! I dont stare at the page though, I just keep trying new papers and flipping and flopping etc. I end up deleting a lot of hidden layers at the end!
