Do you Make Goals as a Scrapper?

I did this year and I'm doing abysmally with it. My goal was to learn how to make "art" with my pages. This is what I mean by "art"

(I just found this through google - no artist name was attached to it)

This is the closest I can seem to come to that style. And believe me, I know - it's not even CLOSE. LOL

I would love any advice, tutorials, kick in the butt - anything!

I had one of the same kind of goals...I even got a Wacom tablet inspired to be much more "creative"....welp, I haven't used said tablet too much...sigh.

What I have accomplished, is to continually play with my program, and refine "MY" style. It's something, as an artist, that I struggle with. I've come to love so many artists and such a wide variety of different styles...but have resolved to the fact that no matter what I create, I can only be me.

I adore the art-journal style of scrapping...and embrace my chance to get messy when I get the opportunity. But I'm also a traditional memory keeper. Not much help am I? I love your page though -- I think it's fabulous, creative and artistic :)

Susan I think your interpretation of the artsy Journal style is perfect! I'm a traditional digital scrapbooker and have yet to try to do an artsy layout. I admire anyone who does!!!

Susan, I think you are going to enjoy taking part in the challenge I will be starting to host next month - Art Journaling. I will be sharing some hints and help along the way with the challenge.
Your 10 quotes page is very much like what I will be looking for in style with my challenges. True Art journaling is not for memory pages as such... it is for sharing thoughts, feelings dreams etc. No heavy shadowing at all.... everything flat as if it was painted or collaged onto the background paper.

Good for you Anne-Marie for hosting this upcoming challenge! AJ is not my thing, I love clustering and shadowing too much to get too AJish, but I do love to incorporate a bit of both together sometimes with a more traditional style. I think everyone should give AJ a try b/c even if it doesn't turn out to be "your thing", I think it is a good exercise in thinking outside the box, relaxing and letting the creativity flow in a different way. I think dabbling in AJ for a few yrs helped me to expand my creativity which helps in any style.

As for goals, I don't really set them but I do try to expand my knowledge, be open to trying new techniques and more than anything, to enjoy scrapping b/c otherwise, what's the point? I'm going to be working on converting photos into watercolor effects so am looking forward to that. Once my daughter gets all moved in and things settle down around here, I'll be delving into that project.

I'm there!!!!

Love the artsy-ness of the pages - I struggle with them so a challenge might be right up my alley!! As far as goals, I usually don't set them - I sort of lose mojo when I don't have a ton of pictures of the grandbabies to scrap - and with this Covid stuff, the pictures are few so far this year!

My goal is very simple... to try scrapbook or work on scrapbook related projects at least a few minutes every day.
I exclusively scrapbook on my iphone mostly using the Over app, so it is easy since my phone is nearly always within arms reach to pick it up when I have a few moments and work on an in progress layout, start a new one, sort through photos, organize kits, etc.
