Goooooood morning, everyone!!!

It's a beeeeautiful sunny day here in Brazil... super hot! But at least it is windy here where I live, so it kind of helps a bit.

So... I was sitting with my cats... actually I was sitting and they were fighting kind of close to me, hahaha... and thinking about what I was going to draw today while blowing my hot coffee. And then I saw something really beautiful on my phone. Turns out it was me. It was my own reflection. I'm the beautiful thing. So I thought I'd go with a self portrait today :D

It's a sketch, but you can already see that I did fall for the quarantaine quarantine quarentain (I don't know how to write that!!! Or say, actually. I've been replacing it for quarenthing lately and people seem to get my point) DIY fever and cut my hair myself at home!

But this is a story for another time, hahaha. I'm not ready to go there yet :D

If you like sketches and want to use it, feel free. Download it here and read the TOU. CU license included <3

And if you're up to some chit chat (remind me of telling you later about this other story in where I made a mistake writting chit with an s in an important e-mail for work, hahaha), tell me: did you try and regret any DIY during the pandemic? The brave ones who dare sharing their funny (or inspiring! who knows you nailed it!) story get rewarded. Secret gift!

I cut my hair with my decoupage scissors! Actually it came out pretty good (except for a couple extra long strands that escaped me and the front sticking up a little) lol I may never go to the hairdresser again. They always give you a bad time after you cut your hair yourself. As if we don't know what we're doing. :winking0071:

Thanks for the sketch! This is my husband's project. I think it's been like this for 5 years. I'm glad I can close the door on it!

What a great idea!

Back in January, I had my husband cut my hair. It ended up way way shorter than I wanted to be, and I had to even it out later. I do regret it, because he later told me he likes my hair longer. *sigh* I can't win, LOL. :)

What a mess!
Doesn't it drive you crazy?
Not that my projects happen in an organized and tidy environment, hahahahahaha

Love hearing the stories! I am not one to cut my hair but once or twice a year anyways... usually wait til my migraines have gotten worse cause of the weight of my hair then I realize it's time for a cut. Our DIY journey this year is that due to the immuno compromised people in the house (me included) we had to say goodbye to the lovely ladies that came in our house once a week and made miracles happen with all the cleaning! So we have been attempting to deep clean and keep up the cleaning in this house since they stopped coming last year. Oh it's been a journey... last year we realized it had been so long since any of us has spent any decent time in the recroom that a family of mice had taken up residence in there... oh my that was a mess! Every time something in the house creaks now I look around expecting to see a mouse grinning up at me....

Hi! This is my first post on Gingerscraps! Thanks for a fun subject. I did have a good laugh at the decoupage scissors incident. If I did not wear my hair up it is something I would definitely do. I think my DIY misadventures is from the other side. The list I had but not started. I’m not sure what I did instead, it’s a mystery. So I planned to fix a cupboard door, fix 2 handles on drawers, paint a section of the bathroom blue, sand & lacquer a grandparents display cabinet & try to colour my hair colour regrow before it got to 5cm. Hair was coloured by a professional at 6cm when they could work again but I’m back to a 5cm regrowth & can’t say it’s because the hairdressers are closed. Luckily I invested in turban style headbands that are wide to hide my the not black hair. The others are still pending. So I’m hugely distracted & that’s my excuse.

Funny stories about hair cutting. I cut my hair in the 4th grade the night before picture day. Not a good turnout.
And several years ago my son wanted hubby to cut his hair andone side was shorter so he adjusted the razor but the comb part fell off....cutting one side right to the scalp! It was January and -40 outside (here in Northern Canada) and I almost had a fit but son just went to the local quick hair cutting place and said to the hairdresser, "Well that's the last time I make a bet on Hockey"...they all laughed. Needless to say --- Hubby never gets near me with scissors or clippers!!

I didn't try to cut my hair or anything like that; I waited until the hair cuttery places were opened again. Right now I'm failing at packing for a move - or rather, I'm succeeding in avoiding doing just that by wandering around Gingerscraps, lol.

hahaha, I can't believe he actually did cut your hair without protesting!
The good news, I was told, is that it grows again... hehe

OMG... cleaning... why did you have to bring that to the table???
hahahahaha
Now I have to confess that the cats are the ones keeping the mice away here hehe
That's why I still take so much abuse from these little monsters, hahaha

OMG, now I'm feeling soooooo honered! Your first post... and it was here! Thaaaaank you :)
Welcome!
Well, I didn't do a lot of the things I had planned too in the last few months... and that was something that was bothering me a lot. I was constantly worried about the things I didn't do and feeling guilty for not doing them. Until the day my cat meowed to me: "meoooow meow meow meeeeow"
Kidding! It was actually my psychologist who called my attention to all the other great things I had done instead!
So what if I didn't clean that room that I had planned? I learned to draw cute hands instead! It was not time wasted, it was time repurposed and I feel so much happier seeing the cute hands I'm drawing now than I would feel having finished cleaning the room. So... not guilty anymore.
Was your hair already black or did you also change the color?

Well... I must say I totally understand your boundaries hehe
Nothing wrong with keeping a safe distance from potential accidents, hahaha

baaahahahaha
that's the spirit! look for the bright side! it's not about what you're failing to do, but about what you're succeeding on doing!
yay to you!
right now, for example, I'm totally succeeding on avoiding going out for groceries :blush

I failed at any big projects, just too much going on.

A few few weeks ago I get up and my teenage son has no hair, like not quite shaved bare, but shorn as close to the scalp as possible. He got tired of the quaranthingy (stealing that word). Speechless. Just speechless, some areas so close to scalp, others longer, he won’t think about letting me even it out. I’m okay, what’s the bathroom look like, oh I cleaned it. Dad got home shortly after, I asked him in private how the bathroom looked, he said it was fine. Thinking to myself, this doesn’t sound right, as razor hair ends up everywhere. But two men say it’s good. Hmmm..... know where I’m going?
A couple days later I hit the man cave bathroom, and let’s just say okay was not the word I would have used. Lol.

This boy had haircutters refuse to work on him, this boy with so many texture issues, this boy that screamed bloody murder if I tried to trim it.

Now a couple weeks growth it looks good from front and is so very soft.

I keep my hair very short. Usually go to the hairdresser, but my first haircut during the lockdown I got my (then 6-yr old) son to cut my hair with my sons' hair clippers... Of course, my husband then took over, but it was fun to let him get started. He absolutely hates when I cut his hair so he enjoyed doing it to me! Not really a fail, but for some reason my husband decided to leave a little bit poking at the top, insisting it was better. I lasted 1/2 day before asking him to cut that bit too and finally accepted.
Been using the clippers ever since. It looks same as what I was getting at the hairdresser, much cheaper, and apart from having an argument with my husband every single time about that bit of hair he wants to leave sticking out, it's quite a smooth process!

No DIY fails for me during quarantine... more like avoidance of projects... I'd rather be scrapping than doing mending or ironing.... so ended up overscrapping last year... did over 400 layouts during 2020. Yay me!

Hubby did manage to do a few projects that had been waiting years to get done so that was a plus...and then he went back to work so everything got shelved again.

Re the haircutting thing... I let mine grow for six months till our hairdressers could open and since then I've had two cuts. The longer length was nice but I so prefer it short. My son did ask me to trim his hair and I warned him it might not be good...can say though that it wasn't toooooooo bad seeing as it was just a centimeter or two off the back.
