As to whether to use @ vs. # here are my thoughts:
A # (hashtag) is used for searches or to direct traffic to similar posts on Instagram. For instance, some of the #'s I use are #digitalscrapbooking #scrapbooking #newrelease #2dollartuesday When you use a # the designer only sees your post if they do a search of, or follow that particular #. And clicking on a # will show you similar content, but won't link you to the designer's account.
An @ (mention) will notify the designer that you have posted something using their product, and link anyone who sees your post back to the designer's account. It's a way for viewers to find a link to where they can buy the product. It also increases traffic to the designer's account.
For example, when I post my layouts on my personal Instagram account I would use #scrapbooking #digiscrap #memorykeeping @gingerscraps_ @joceedesigns (#'s for searches, @'s so viewers can find links to stores.)
Also, each time you mention @gingerscraps_ or the designer's @ in your post, it increases traffic to those accounts. Everyone who follows you sees those posts and can link back to our account - and find a link to our store - and find some great digi goodness!!
I would love to see everyone on Instagram. I think it's a great platform for digital scrapbooking.
Let me know if y'all have any questions. Happy posting!!
Jenny
