Deleting outside shadowing

Someone gave me directions on how to delete the outside shadows on like a cluster and now I can't find them. Anyone have a quick way to do this? I have my cluster and have have shadowed the pieces. Then I flattened it and selected it. The little running ants are circling it and I am stuck on what to do now.
Anyone???

So are you saying your shadows are too dark or too large or both? A few things you could do is to duplicate your layer, lasso the shadow and lighten the selection (curves, levels, whatever you want to use) and then create an inverted mask and at low opacity brush some of the lightness onto your shadow. Make sure you zoom in nice and close so you can really see the shadow well.

If your shadow is too dark, you can lasso it, select filter5>blur>gaussian blur and increase the blur amount a bit to soften the dark shadow.

Hope this helps.

I have a "hide shadow" action that does it. There are longer tutorial online to do it on your own.

Are you using PSE or Photoshop? Here is the instructions if you do...
I hope you mean you merged the layers.
Ctrl click on the layer which you may already know to do to get the marching ants then do ctrl+sift+I ( letter i ) and then hit delete. Sometimes I hit delete a few times as it sometimes does not remove all of the outside shadow with just one click of delete.
(These instructions for a windows computer)

I use the magic wand tool to select the shadow and then delete. You may need to tweak the tolerance if it is selecting too much or too little of the outside shadow.
