Converting PSD to TIF?

I use Photoshop CC

I saw someone mention that they convert their PSD files to TIF because it saves less space. Anyone do this? Looking for instructions as I tried to do it but it gave me options and I wasn't sure what to choose. When I did save the file as TIF it didn't really save me that much space.

I use Photoshop Elements but I did quickly save a layout I had in PSD to TIF and saved 58mb, not much but I suppose it adds up.

It does save a bit of space but not a giant amount. I just save with the standard TIFF options that come up. There is no secret trick to it to make it any smaller.
