Collaboration Packs from Multiple Designers

I am not talking about a case where two designers get together, or the GingerBread Ladies collabs, but sometimes we can purchase a special pack of items, or we are gifted them, that come from dozens of different designers.

So... my question is... do you keep all the kits together, or do you sort them separately?

Another question about the collabs where two designers get together, how do you file them? By which designer or by both? I have two or three packs like this and am not quite sure what to do with them.

For big giant kits, like blog hops and such on a similar theme or color scheme, I generally keep everything together. If the collabs are very different products that happen to be a collab I'll separate those. But mostly I'll just pile everything together.

For collabs with two designers, it depends on how much room I have on my HD. Sometimes I'll just make a copy of the whole kit and put one in each of the designers' folders. If it's a GS designer and a designer from another store, I usually just put it in the GS designer folder. And if it's two GS designers and I'm running out of room, I'll put the kit in one designer's folder and a copy of the preview image in the other. That's a reminder to me that I have the kit located somewhere else.

With regard to big giant kits/collabs, I do what Jennifer does. It's just easier.

With kits by 2 designers, I have 1 copy of the kit and name its folder something like, designerX-designerY_nameofkit. Since I don't usually look for a kit by designer name (by color scheme or theme instead), this method works for me.

Jen, Ane,

It just weighs terribly on my little OCD Brain that it is not properly sorted. Then I forget to use it. I organize by Store, Designer, KitName. Of course, GS deserves its own hard drive haha!

I wish I had a photographic memory, or time to tag every single thing I own!!

:)

Thanks! At least I don't feel guilty it is all in a single folder...

Could you section out an area just for collabs? Like call the store or designer "collabs" to help your brain? Or would that make things worse? LOL that might make things worse....

For some of them, you can tell within the kit who designed what my the file name. You could separate everything into smaller kits like that maybe?

I have store collabs in one folder. Another option I've used with the collabs from the store is put the store initials in front of the title that way all collabs from one store are in one spot sorted alphabetically.
Blog hops I keep in one folder. I name the folder that kit name and put all parts in that one folder. Don't put each separate piece loose on your storage device. I did that once and it took me forever to find all the individual designer pieces.
Usually if two designers work together they are at the same store, so I'd just put it in that store folder. I wouldn't separate.

I like a variety to chose from when designing a LO so I like all coordinating pieces to be together.

I always keep every kit in it's kit. The only thing I do is that if there are 5 paper pack folders, I'll combine them.
