Christmas Treats?

Hi all!
I know this post is probably too late since Christmas is in 2 days, lol, but I was wondering ...
Do you have a favorite cookie/treat recipe?

I made fudge and 7 layer bars yesterday, tomorrow I'm making a lime green jello "salad" (it is for Christmas Eve dinner and needs to be made the day before).

I just found an interesting recipe for blueberry cookies on TicToc https://justinesnacks.com/blueberry...blue(berry)_cookies_|_vegan_&_naturally_blue!

They don't look like a Christmas cookie, but I'm really interested in trying them! I might make them tomorrow.

Planning on making some peanut butter bars and some cookies too.

Give me you favorites treat recipes!!

Oh and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!!

I just saw, while scrolling Facebook...
Take an ice cream cone (the one that looks like a triangle), turn it upside down and decorate it like a Christmas Tree. They used icing, whipped cream and every small candy imaginable.

That’s a fun idea!

We make all sorts of cookies, from spritz to something we call buried cherries. But my favorite thing we make is for Christmas Eve dinner called Cherry Angel Delight. It's layers of cherry pie filling, chunks of angel food cake, and a Cool Whip mixture.

Randy's dad is known for making his famous cherry jell-o for the holidays (he mixes it with applesauce and it really is quite good). My dad is known for making lots of batches of puppy chow (chex mix cereal mixed with peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar... no longer on my list of things I can eat! LOL!)

As a kid, I loved helping Mom make (and eat) fruit slush. Basically, you mix everything into one large bowl. We would then put the bowl out in the snow, but now that we live in warmer climates, we transfer the mixture into smaller containers that will actually fit in the freezer. Ha.

1 (6 oz) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 (6 oz) can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple
1 (20 oz) package frozen strawberries, chopped
4 bananas, diced
2 liter botte ginger ale

This was served on Christmas morning along side crockpots of meatballs and little smokies. The family could just graze as they saw fit. I wonder if I could find a way to make it with no sugar and fresh fruits and make it a wee bit healthier! LOL!

Sounds so yummy! If you have a moment, share the recipes! I will try it next year :)

Here you go, Ginger! And if cherry isn't your thing, you can use any pie filling.

2 c. powdered sugar
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 angel food cake mix (make according to directions, cool, tear into chunks)
1 large (12 oz) container Cool Whip
3 cans cherry pie filling

Mix sugar and cream cheese. Beat until fluffy. Fold in Cool Whip. Alternate layers of cake, cram cheese mix, and cherry pie filling. Chill.

Yummy!! That sounds like something I would love!

We make mincemeat pies. We only have them at Christmas and New Year. This is the recipe I used this year.

I have never had a mincemeat pie, I will have to check out the recipe!

Ok I looked at the recipe... I'm intimidated! LOL
Where do you get the suet?
What about candied mixed peel?

Are those things you can order online or do you make them?

Not sure about in California but candied peel and suet can be bought at the supermarket in many places. When I last wanted suet I couldn't find it and asked a local butcher, who gave me some for nothing (suet is the hard white fat from around the kidneys so I guess they just throw it away unless someone asks for it).

You can actually buy suet at some British Shops. Some Walmarts carry it and you can order it from Amazon. You can also substitute vegetable shortening like Crisco or lard. They all have a similar melting point, although the substitution changes the flavour a little. We have to use shortening because my daughter's boyfriend is vegan.

Candied mixed peel can be made or purchased online. It is not quite an intimidating as it looks and the pastry recipe is really easy.

Of course, you can buy Mincemeat at any British shop and at some grocery stores . You might try a jar before going to the trouble of making your own.

I want to make a Christmas Fruit Cake next year. I was really craving one this year :)

I'm totally late to this party, but wanted to share my family's favorite Jello recipe. We call it Cherry Coke Jello.
Add 2 cups of boiling water to 1 large box of cherry jello mix, stir until dissolved.
Mix in 2 cups of chilled Coca-cola. Cover and refrigerate for an hour or two (you want it to be starting to set so the cherries don't all sink to the bottom).
Fold in 1 can of Cherry Pie Filling. Chill until set.
Can add whipped cream on top.
