Christmas Decorations

Another thread got me thinking, how much does everyone decorate for the holidays? Do you go all out or keep it simple?

My mom has slowed down as she's gotten older, but our house growing up looked like a Christmas store there was so much stuff everywhere.

I've always been more minimalist and I'm now to the point where I only put up a Christmas tree and stockings. The ornaments are my favorite part of Christmas decorations and I love pulling them out year after year and remembering the stories behind each one. Stockings are my favorite part of gift giving because they're fun and silly and we enjoy making them up for each other more than buying large, expensive gifts.
 
I wish I had enough wall space to go all out, but we are surprisingly minimal, at least to me. I have several wall hangings, some tabletoppers, an overly decorated tree, miniature lightup houses on my mantle, and knitted stockings. Tomorrow I will add a couple of poinsettia by the fireplace. My tree is there too, so that corner looks really Christmas-y! :D
 
We go all out! I love decorating and the kids always help, so its a bit of a tradition. I have quite a few of my late grandmother's decorations and it wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't get them out, too!
 
I'm not too decorative when it comes to decorating. Maybe next time. Because I love to seeing cute ornamets hanging and all. growing up, stating September, my mother would bring out all our Chritmas decors and surely, before november, our house is transformed into the colors of red and green and silvery things. Our pltes changed into Christmas-y them and our table runner is all Christmas-y too. I miss those days too.
 
My house looks like the storage unit for the Christmas Spirit :) All the leftovers that don't match, the lights everyone didn't buy, decorations that great-grandma used and Hallmark's discards. It is a very merry household, that's for sure, but it will never make it to House Beautiful!
 
This is the first year in a long time I have been in a festive spirit so our house was a bit more decorated than it has been in the last 5 years. I hope that in years to come I will be unpacking much more of my stored decorations for my grandbabies to see and enjoy.
 
I have never decorated a whole lot, but it's more than minimal. My son helps a lot. We put up a tree in our den and decorate the living room, including stockings and the advent wreath and a wreath on the front door.
