Calling ALL Book Lovers!!!

I'd definitely love to read more as well. It's been so hard to find the time though! Still so much to be done around kids, household, at work..
The book club sounds great! It might be a good motivation .
I've started reading Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. Love it!

I decided to follow Reese Witherspoon's book club on Instagram (@reesesbookclubxhellosunshine). She only lists one book a month (hopefully I can handle that) and focuses on female authors with a strong female lead in the books. I used to be a very avid reader, but I got bifocals a couple years ago and find reading less enjoyable with them. I've thought about Audible books, but being read to puts me to sleep. lol I guess a bi-product of being read to as a child at bedtime.

I downloaded that book a long time ago...still sitting on my kindle hehe

I am going to check that out...LOVE Reese Witherspoon!

I know what you mean about falling asleep...that's why I listen in the car while I'm driving. I've put my ear buds in at night only to find I sleep through chapters!

I love reading, but always find myself falling into reading the same genre over and over again and get stuck in a rut where I can't finish a book to save my soul. It sucks!
Neither can I do audiobooks, because my wind wonders far too much, and I have to rewind again...and again...and again...and again, lol.
I'd LOVE to see the book club back and ACTIVE again, and anything I can do to help make that happen -- you got it!
I found, and read, several fabulous books through the GS book club over the few years I handled it (both myself and with Jen when she was here) -- ones that I would have never read without it being suggested here.
Maybe I might actually finish a Goodreads challenge with a book club here pushing me forward ;)

Me too!!! I remember reading "The Shack" through our GS Book Club...one of those I would have never read, nor seen the movie after...and it was a GREAT book.

Would you consider hosting again? I would love to get back into it...maybe incorporating a thoughtful layout challenge at the end? This could be fun :)

I love to read, but am a member of more than one book club now :) I might read some of the books, though.

I love to read, but have not done a lot of reading since I've started digiscrapping. I think it would be good for me to start doing some reading again. I miss it! I've thought about doing Audible, but I really love to "read". I would love to be part of your group if you get it started!

I'm a book addict myself. I have so many books and very little time. So this year, I am trying to read one book per week and make a review about it, squeezing it to my daily schedule.

I'm in. I listen to books on overdrive that I download from our library. I often have to wait a year to get the book I want but I try to keep the max number reserved in the hopes that things will move enough so I always have something to listen to. I'm a big fan of multi-tasking- I listen while, cleaning, cooking driving- really anytime I'm doing something else except it doesn't work while I'm scrapping. I find I need to concentrate on scrapping and I miss too much of the book.

I would love to join in! I love to READ - not listen. I get disturbed by the person reading.... hehe
I already got my reading goal set on Goodreads at 30 books this year and I am on book #4 right now!

The only thing on my end that could mess things up is if the book we decide to read is too new - then it might not be available in Sweden.

count me in ladies! I cant listen to audio though, I would love to read the book and feel it, tried different reading apps, just didnt feel like fun, just finished a book "Gentle Warrior " by Julie Garwood, actually I read it the 6th time, it is a book from my before marriage era, and yes guilty of reading hard core historical romance, though now I read all kinds of books, had no tim to buy more so I took from my stash.

I'm in! I am trying to get back into the habit of reading before bed, even if just for a few minutes. I'm also getting myself back to the gym, and just discovered that the new treadmills have the Kindle app on them! Yesterday I signed in and read for nearly 40 minutes while walking. It was awesome!

That is so cool! I wonder if my gym has that? I've always just watched TV. I haven't even paid attention to anything else. I'm going to check next time I go!

So, it took me longer than I planned to reply here -- but I'm EXCITED to see how much potential interested in getting the book club up and running again. And, I would love to get us started (I'm offering to host it; however, if one of the other designers or members would prefer to handle it themselves, that's fine. I'd just like to see it going again...I need to read some more books!) :)

Below is a small questionnaire I am hoping that you interested ladies will fill out for me, just to give me an idea of where to start and what you'd like to get from the monthly book club. Because I'm a talking, lol, most questions have some of my own comments/questions built in...but I promise the goal is to try and appeal to as many ladies as possible in as easy a way as possible :)

1. Do you want to vote on each month's book (I would provide you with a list of 3-4 books to choose from, and the one with the most votes would be our choice) or have me randomly select one based on the most preferred genres?
2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month?
3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read?
4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it)
5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months), or would you prefer only stand alone books?
6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started?

It would be nice to vote on three or four choices. On the other hand, if it makes it harder on you to do that, just picking from the preferred genre would be just fine with me :)

2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month?
No, they don't need to be free. I don't make it to the library often, so I probably would end up buying my book anyway. It would be nice if we could stay around $15 or so, but I'll buy it regardless.

3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read?
Oh gosh, let's see. In random order. 1. romance 2. fantasy (Sherilyn Kenyon as an example) 3. mystery 4. psycho thriller
5. Christian Fiction

4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it)
It doesn't matter to me. A challenge might be fine, but I'm okay with just reading too.

5. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started?
I've never been in a book club before and I'm really excited to get started!!! Thank you so much for taking this on. I really appreciate you!

No need for thanks - I enjoy reading and discussing books, and would love an opportunity to do that with all of you! :)

I did think of one other question, though, if you don't mind :)

5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months)
, or would you prefer only stand alone books?

I LOVE to read series!!!

2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month? No, I'd pay for a low-cost e-book, up to $15 or so.
3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read? romance, sci-fi, fantasy, non-fiction
4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it) Just read and discuss.

6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started? Thanks for stepping up and volunteering to lead us! :)

Gosh I'd love the book club to be started again!! I've done book clubs here and there on different forums and always have loved the selections. It's so fun to find things you wouldn't normally read that are awesome. I'm one that can't do Audible either. I so wish I could!! My mind wanders too much. Wish I could listen and scrap at the same time LOL.

1. Do you want to vote on each month's book (I would provide you with a list of 3-4 books to choose from, and the one with the most votes would be our choice) or have me randomly select one based on the most preferred genres? Voting is cool, but I'd be fine either way.
2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month? I'd pay for a book. I actually find it keeps me more accountable to read if I do pay for it! Prob $10 max.
3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read? Historical fiction, Amish fiction, memoirs...those are my top 3. I'm open to anything, though I'm normally not a horror fan.
4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it) Hmmm, hadn't thought of that, but it would be neat to have a scrap challenge associated.
5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months), or would you prefer only stand alone books? Absolutely! Series are my favorites.
6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started? Nothing I can think of!

1. Do you want to vote on each month's book (I would provide you with a list of 3-4 books to choose from, and the one with the most votes would be our choice) or have me randomly select one based on the most preferred genres? I would love to vote!

2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month? I would pay - it would be nice to have it available in kindle and audio also.

3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read?
I like interesting books that are a little different (Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper, Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, The Extraordinary life of Sam Hell, Ten Birthdays, Bookshop of Yesterdays, My grandmother asked me to tell you she's Sorry, Rosie Project).
I also like historical fiction (Bernard Cornwell "Last Kingdom Series"),
I love mystery (Inspector Ian Rutledge, Inspector Banks, Brother Cadfael, Cosy Mysteries).
I like specific authors also (James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, David Baldacci, Dan Brown, Robert Dugoni, Tom Clancy)
Some Science Fiction or Fantasy (Little Fuzzy, Jeff Wheeler series, Brian Jacques,Robert Ludlum, Susan Whittig ALbert's Beatrix Potter series, Harry Potter series)
Classics (Jane Austin, ****ens, Bronte Sister, Poe, Victor Hugo)
Westerns (yes, odd, but I love westerns)
Romance (who does not love a good ending)

Oh heck, just about anything except horror!

4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it) Read and discuss is fine.

5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months), or would you prefer only stand alone books? That would be lovely.

6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started? I think it is a lovely idea.

I too love to read. I have been in a couple of book clubs and loved it. I really need to read more as it is very good for your mind.

1. Do you want to vote on each month's book
(I would provide you with a list of 3-4 books to choose from, and the one with the most votes would be our choice) or have me randomly select one based on the most preferred genres? I could really go either way. Whichever most people think is best is okay with me.
2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month? I am on a very limited budget so unless I was able to get it for free or a couple of dollars I might not be able to join in.
3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read? Mystery/Suspense, Fantasy, Romance, (Okay with most things other than horror. Not big on Biographies either)
4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it) Once again I could go either way. Sometimes having a challenge makes it more interesting.
5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months), or would you prefer only stand alone books? Series books are okay. Then I'm given an option if I liked the first book to read the rest of the series.
6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started? The thing that came to mind for me is please send me a message when this gets going. I don't always remember to check for things and this is something that I'd really like to become a part of.

This made me laugh. I listen to a lot of audio books, but I am very picky about my readers. They MUST be English and do ALL the voices :) I have favourites and sometimes I pick the books based on the readers.

I am listening to the Lord of the Rings trilogy right now. The reader is really good. I also like Jim Dale, who reads the Harry Potter books, and Simon Prebbles and Davina Porter - oh there are a hundred great readers. David McCallum is fabulous.

I read "The Shack" as well and it wouldn't have been a pick for myself but I did enjoy it. Nothing really became of that club but would like to be part of a "Book Club" again if anyone is starting it again?

Me too!!! I remember reading "The Shack" through our GS Book Club...one of those I would have never read, nor seen the movie after...and it was a GREAT book.

Would you consider hosting again? I would love to get back into it...maybe incorporating a thoughtful layout challenge at the end? This could be fun :)

I'd be interested in the club. I come and go on the site. Followed the club before but never really read the books then. I'd love to be more active on this site, this would be a great way to start. I get stuck in a rut in one or two genre too. {sigh.} lol.

1. Do you want to vote on each month's book (I would provide you with a list of 3-4 books to choose from, and the one with the most votes would be our choice) or have me randomly select one based on the most preferred genres? (Maybe) every other month a vote and the other months your choice.

2. Do all e-books need to be free to download? (I realize most should be available to check out from libraries, but if that is not available) If not, what would be your max spending limit per month?
I am on a very limited budget as well, so unless I was able to get it for free or under five dollars, I might not be able to join in.

3. What are your top 5 favorite genres of books to read? Romance, Sci-Fi, Dystopian, Fantasy (I'm not much for animal shape shifting or vampires [eww], but I do like magic, faeries, good vs. evil stuff.) I've really not read much out of these genre.

4. Do you want any type of monthly scrapping challenge associated with the book club -- or just the option to read and discuss the book with others? (should you vote for a scrapping challenge, it may or may not have a reward associated with it)Yes, that would really be a fun way to see peoples' visuals of the book, maybe even an art journal type page?

5. Are you open to reading the first book of a series (even if we don't finish the series in following months), or would you prefer only stand alone books? Absolutely!

6. Anything else you can think of to include, consider, or discuss before picking a book and getting started? ("The thing that came to mind for me is please send me a message when this gets going. I don't always remember to check for things and this is something that I'd really like to become a part of." Ditto.) please message me. :)
