Are you a cat or dog person or neither? And why?

I love all animals, but I am definitely a cat person. I grew up with a Siamese named Whiskers (he was missing the whiskers on one side of his face when we adopted him, so the name kind of stuck), and he was a wonderful cat, who constantly purred and kept me company whenever I needed it.

We now have three Sphynx cats. My husband is horribly allergic to both cats and dogs, but he is fortunately not allergic to Sphynx! One of our Sphynx, Merlin, sleeps curled up under my husband's chin, and my husband doesn't react to him at all! Yet after 5 minutes in a house with furred cats, and my husband's eyes will be itching and watering, and his nose will be running and sneezing.

Our Sphynx are the most incredibly loving, affectionate, and devoted cats. They constantly need to be in the same room as us, they always want to be next to one of us or on one of our laps, they constantly purr, they play fetch, and in general, they just want and give a lot of attention and affection! One writer has described them as "part-child, part-monkey, part-dog, and part-cat" and I don't think they are far off with that description!

I love animals and birds.
Cats kill birds ( most times not for food - just for fun) so I do not like Cats. I do tolerate them when owned by family or friends

I much prefer dogs as they are more companions than cats are. I would love to own another dog as we lost our Tina many years ago now and never replaced her. My husband is retired and we own a caravan so to do some travelling we would need to leave the dog behind.

I'm both but lean more to dogs. Our family dog Gizmo was 17, a mixed mini datsun, chihuahua, terrier.
We got him when he was 5 weeks old. My world crashed when I had to have him put down on December 3rd.
Doubt I'll ever get past it :(

I'm a cat person - we've always had cats and we've had dogs too (mainly German shepherds). Now I'm too lazy to have a dog and I'm also not home a lot so it's not fair to the dog. Cats are so much easier and mine are so affectionate and have great personalities. I'm very allergic to short haired dogs (especially labs and great danes) because with the shorter hair the dander comes up more and that is what sets my allergies off. I may have a dog again someday when I'm retired and home more but for now I love my kitties :)

I knew Caylynn was going to say cats. I just love your layouts with your kitties!

I am a cat person. I love love love cats! If there were no hubby or kiddo in my life, I would be a crazy cat lady. :-D I do love our dog Wolfie though.

Our cat's name is Gizmo! :-) I am so sorry and sad for your loss. Losing pets is difficult. Especially one you've had for as long as you had Gizmo. :-(

So sorry for your loss. :( It is always so hard to lose a pet. However long they are with us, it always feels too short.

Cat person for sure. We have 3. I had Cats and Dogs as a kid but have always leaned towards cats for myself and my family. Cats are less work than dogs and with having 5 kids I always felt like I had enough work. Also when Dogs lick me I get itchy hives, I hate the way my hands feel after petting dogs and they are always up in your business having a good sniff. Plus I can leave my cats for about a week without someone coming to check on them and they are completely fine. So nice for us since we travel a lot!

dog dog and only dog person. NO CATS! Can't handle their attitude. We have a 6 year old chocolate lab who is like the perfect dog EVER. Then we tempted fate last summer and got a boxer puppy...pretty sure I might lose my mind with her. She is a crazy spaz. But darn...she is so cute!

I work at an animal hospital so I basically love all animals. Have always had a dog. At one point, I had 3 dogs, 3 horses and some barn cats!! My husband thought I was nuts!! Now just have dog, 1 cat, 1 horse. My new year's resolution is to try to scrapbook more all the pics of my critters. LOL

I am definitely a dog person, we have had dogs in our families ever since I can remember.
I love all animals though, we have turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, gecko's, chickens and a dog but no cat!
Jessica would love a cat but I wouldn't trust our dog Chilli with one!!

It has been very difficult indeed. Each time my grandson Drustan comes over, he goes straight to Gizmo's box (ashes) and says "Nana, Gizmo in there". And of course, I just miss him so very much. Thanks La'Shawn.

I'm terribly allergic to absolutely everything, except ragweed 🤔 I think I'd lean toward a dog if I could. I think they are four legged humans.

love both - grew up with a s iamese cat, and had cats after college too. a year after my last cat died who i was very close to got my first dog - a yellow lab - cooper, that was 12 years ago - see my avatar

Cat Cat Cat.. all the way. love dogs, grew up with two and a cat but... give me a cat anytime of day or night.

We had a wonderful old girl for 18 years... our daughter adored her.. she was very independent, but when we had to put her to rest...broke us all.

Now we have the most delicious Ragdoll who is my fur baby all the way. I am his 'person' and my kids are not impressed, lol!
He follows me everywhere.. and I mean everywhere!! and I wouldn't have it any other way.
He is still a baby.. only just turned two so is exploring his way around and deciding when he wants to be affectionate or not.. I just ignore that and give him a mooch any time I want, lol

did I say I was a cat person, lol

I love cats. Something about their "I don't give a crap" attitude appeals to me. I grew up with dogs. So I guess I love them too.
We just got a cat here this past November for my son's 20th birthday and it seems the cat has adopted me as his own.
But I love turtles even more then cats or dogs. I have two pet turtles and recently traveled all the way to Hawaii to see more turtles.
