Anyone into couponing?

As a single mom with 3 teenage boys who eat ALL.THE.TIME., I need to save money anywhere I can. I tried to get into using coupons last year, but didn't get far and kind of gave up. This year I bought myself a wireless printer for Christmas and have started following a couple of blogs, plus using Savings Catcher and Bluebird at Walmart and Savingstar at a bunch of stores. So far so good.... the other day I was quite proud of my purchases at Shaws... spent $18 and got 3 packages of ground turkey, a pork roast, 5 boxes of Kraft Mac and Cheese, 3 boxes of Hamburger Helper (not my fave, but a once in a while quick meal), 2 bags of Food Should Taste Good chips, and 2 Chobani yogurts. I'm getting there... I don't want to be a crazy couponer who buys stuff that I would never eat, and I don't have room for a huge stockpile, but my goal is to stock up my freezer and pantry over the next couple of months so that I can drastically reduce my weekly bill. :)

I'm not, but I envy those that can do it!! I cant imagine feeding teenage boys, I have 3 (plus one girl) but right now the girl out eats the boys more days than not! ha ha! But my boys are 9, 4 & 2. So I'm sure that'll change! (My daughter is 7)

I would if I lived in the US. My sister in law has a basement full of stock from couponing! She lets me raid it when we visit. LOL.

Canada has strict coupon rules. No doubling up or using multiple coupons. A lot of stores (Except Walmart) don't even accept printed coupons from home. Some don't even take coupons at all. Manufacturers here send out coupons once in a while but not like you guys get in the states.

We do get a weekly coupon flyer but it's always for ridiculous stuff like new flooring or getting a roof done or obscure products that *I* never use.

we used to go across the border into NY twice a month to shop. But since we moved, we are an hour away now and it's not as easy. I miss buying at Aldi. I saved a TON of money there. :)

I use coupons as I can, but I'm not great with taking the time to hunt it all out. I will purchase the BOGO's and other specials.
I've still not been to Aldi's or Trader Joe's.
I like when the stores I shop at have a flat $$ off of a minimum price.

I do as well as you can where I am. The only major grocery store, HEB, doesn't double/triple coupons and that's where a lot of those shows have the bigger savings. And I try to only use it on stuff that I know we will eat/use/ect. And not on things that will sit in the pantry. My 9 year old is a bottomless pit and there are 6 total here, 4 adults and 2 kiddos (plus food for my husband's 18wheeler he can cook easily.)

I used to be a semi-extreme couponer, lol....back in 2010. We were going to the Philippines and I was able to bring over loads and loads of goodies for relatives. Back then, there were more "free" goodies...toothpaste, shampoo, stuff that's needed and can be stocked for a while. I even knew the cashiers of the local Walgreens and CVS, ha! They were really cool and even pre-ordered items for me...it's a win/win/win, the last win for the state for getting sales tax!

I've cut back a lot since it does take time and there doesn't seem to be many free items as before. Plus, even though it's "free" I still have to pay sales tax on stuff and out of pocket. I'm so bad now, I forget so many coupons or I do transactions totally wrong.

I do use apps like Cartwheel at Target, Ibotta, Checkout51 and other things. Ibotta and Checkout51 is a rebate type app on your phone or tablet. I think you can also use a computer, but you need to be able to scan the receipt. Basically, there are items on the list that can generate a rebate, I like Ibotta because it often has milk and we buy milk all the time! You can get .25c back just by scanning the receipt and uploading. Payout is via Paypal or gift cards like Starbucks. Checkout51 has rebates on fruit or vegetables.

I can PM you more info if you are interested. (I could give you my referral link, haha!)

I love hip2save.com for lots of money saving tips.

LOL Em... wish I could get your referral, but I already signed up for all of those! Sorry! Wish I had asked sooner.

Right now I am loving Savings Catcher at Wal-mart the best... the others haven't amounted to much savings for me yet, except for Savingstar.

Haha Donna... isn't that always the way? ;)

I found a coupon for canyon creek gluten free today plus others. I'm excited.

I do not coupon unless it's for Kohls!!!!!!!! ;)

I do love Savings Catcher from Walmart. I'm impressed with how much I get back!

I shop at Sam's Club and Walmart. I rarely find better prices anywhere else. I also don't like to waste time/gas/money driving to multiple stores for good deal!

A good idea is to find out what's on sale at your local grocery store and plan your meals around the sale items!

I go in spurts. Back in the day when I was first married - 31 years ago (lol!) I was big into couponing - back then they were pretty plentiful and I even subscribed to a couponing magazine - it was full of people looking to trade coupons. It was fun.
