Anyone in France???

My husband has always wanted to visit Paris. We are trying to plan a trip for 2018. If anyone in the group is from France that would be willing to answer questions and help me I would be so thankful.

Best and not too expensive place to stay in Paris? Private or Hotel?
Is it best to take guided tour or tour on our own?

Would anyone be willing to be a private guide?

What a fun trip! I have a friend of mine serving an LDS (church) mission there right now. My son served in the southern part of France and wants to return.
When we were discussing a trip there we looked into AirBNB? Is that what it is called? Those looked pretty inexpensive compared to a hotel. I would for sure do a tour and then maybe go back to certain areas you found interesting and just play around on your own.
You will have so much fun!

When we went to Paris last year we stayed at an AirBnB. They are great as long as you go with a place that has reviews. I would never stay in one that didn't. Make sure you learn some basic French before you go if you don't already know the language. Most people say the French are rude but we found as long as we started every conversation with host/hostesses, clerks, bakery people or anyone in French that they were much more willing to help us then just assuming they speak English. They all quickly shifted to English once we spoke French horribly to them. LOL Let me know if you want any advice on tour guides or things to see and do and I can tell you what our itinerary was.
