Do you use PS? There are tutorials for creating photo effects that you can create and save as an action. I want to create a b/w sketched action when I have time.
One thing I do to create different effects on a photo is to duplicate it a number of time, apply different blend modes and then change the opacity and/or create a clipping mask to brush the layer effect on the photo.
