Anyone have an HP laptop or a Dell to scrap on?

So, I am guessing it is time to upgrade. My laptop that I love can no longer do more than 2 tasks at a time... and scrapping and surfing the internet isn't working out. Right now Costco has some great deals on a 17" screen HP, so I am wondering... anyone use an HP or a Dell? I have toshiba that has been fantastic for me! So I am sad that I have to switch. Along with only having PSE 9, which means another switch! Please tell me that it has been a dream computer for you! :)

We've had: Dell, Toshiba and HP for lap tops. All have been wonderful [well until tonight] but I think pick the one you like that is the biggest of RAM and Drive Hard Space and Memory...then the rest does not matter.

Personally, I prefer a desk top.
Good luck.

I like Dell, I'm not an HP fan, but my son is a laptop snob and his go to is Asus. But, yes, like Michi said is really all about RAM and hard drive capacity ...get the most you can ...and a SSD is nice too!

I liked my HP - but it had way more HD & RAM then my DELL so that could be why. I do NOT like the one I have currently - but I didn't pick it out - so its not what I would have chosen (again - more HD and RAM!!!)

I've had a number of Dell's over the years with no problems at all. I recently upgraded to the latest XPS 15 wih a 4K screen..if you can, I highly recommend this as the screen is a delight to work with, colours so vivid, edges so crisp..I just love it!

I have an HP laptop. I've had it for a few years and I'm happy with it...It came with Win 7 and I've since switched to Win 10. No problems at all (fingers crossed). On the other hand, I only use it when I travel or if my main computer goes down...so I can't address any problems that might come up from more frequent use.

Actually, it's not really about Hard Drive space or RAM (although more RAM is always good!) it's about the PROCESSOR!!!

I wouldn't get anything less than an i5 or even get an i7 if they have it. Stay away from ACD processors like A10 or A12, those are more for gaming and don't run regular programs properly.

My next door neighbour is a computer genius and I always go to him for problems with my laptop. He told me that my HP is on it's last legs because the i3 processor is slowing down and can't run my big programs anymore (like photoshop). He recommended to me that I get an i7 with no less than 8 GIG of RAM. Hard drive size isn't crucial because you can get an external (I have a 4 TB external) and a 500 G hard drive on the laptop itself.

I like HP, mine hasn't given me any trouble until now and it's going on 6 years old. My DH has a Dell inspirion that he loves. His is an i5 and is lightening fast compared to mine.

I'm looking at another HP or an Asus myself.

I work for HP and love them though my personal PC isnt HP as I have a desktop gaming machine. I like my PC's fast and up-gradable. Personally I think it is a combination of the Processor, RAM, Motherboard and of course graphics card that is important. Though these days for HD's a SSD (Solid State Drive) is a must as they can increase the speed of your PC by a significant amount especially if you are looking for a laptop. Totally agree with what Trace said about the processors.... the I3 are slow even the new ones, the new I5's can be pretty fast but the I7's are the go if you prefer Intel that is. A great reference site for processors is CPU Benchmark which shows you a range of processors from Gaming, High End to Low End.
If looking for what type of brand I think all the popular brands are about equal so it really is about personal preference .... good luck!!!

I've had all of them as well...after my last laptop dying, I bought an Asus, which I have never had before. It is a touch screen/tablet/laptop. It is very sleek and light and I absolutely love it!!! Since I am still in my cast, I have it on my lap a lot, and it is not bulky at all.

Love the HP Envy's they are a great laptop. Specs look great and a great price ...what more could you ask for!! Have fun setting up your new laptop.... its always so exciting getting a new one!
