Given that Hurricane Irene hit the Virgin Islands very hard, am wondering if anybody has heard from MsKinsey? Am worrying over her situation there.

I PM'ed her when I saw it was heading her way, but I haven't heard back. I hope she's ok!

I've sent her a couple of messages, but haven't heard back either. Chatted with her before the hurricane hit and she was prepared as much as she could be, and scared which is TOTALLY understandable.

oh dear.. hope all is well! watching this all on the news was scary enough :(

I am guessing the same thing, that Irma knocked down power lines leaving it hard to get word out. The area I went to and when I returned home were both lucky enough to have power restored within a few days, but if her town had the big poles destroyed it could be weeks to months before they are back in order. When Andrew hit So Florida 25 years ago, we had that happen. Right now they are probably in clean up mode and restoring basics, like water, gas and shelter.

Praying that Maria moves away fast!

Hey Sandy!

Glad you are safe! Read your newsletter, amazed you could get one out, and I enjoyed the photo of the roosters and chicks in transport to safety! I know it was a struggle. I pray there are no more this season to land on the U.S.

Attempting to "bump" this thread to ask if anyone has yet heard from Ms Kinsey living in the Virgin Islands. I keep watching for her to check in somewhere here on GS, but I haven't seen any contact as yet.

I've heard she has been spotted on GS, but I haven't gotten replies to any of my messages to her. I just checked her profile and it says her last activity was September 5.

I heard from her :36_1_33::36_1_33::36_1_33::36_1_33:

She's contacting many of you that have been trying to reach her. She has no electricity; the entire island is without electricity, so traffic signals & street lights are not working. Driving is a dangerous proposition because of it. She has to carry water from a stream down the hill from her apartment. She's lost 20-25 pounds and is glad her wardrobe has become new again. It's going to be a long long time before she will be able to join us again, since the only wi-fi she can get is at the University & that requires driving. She's asked for prayers for the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Yeah! Heard from her & so glad she is a strong survivor!! I cannot imagine what she must be going through right now and in the days, weeks and months ahead. Will look forward to her return here someday when things become more normal for her. Keep the prayers going her way!

yay, so glad you heard from her! sending lots of prayers that things will settle down in the area soon. i hope help comes their way...xoxo...

So sad that our President seems to forget about our US Citizens just because there is that big ocean in between us.

thank you for letting us know Jeanne! glad to hear she is ok.. so sorry for all the troubles she's been having though.. will be thinking of her!
