Any other soccer moms out there?

I got to thinking that I can't be the only soccer mom out there that hasn't completely cut the umbilical cord? Do you have a really hard time missing a game that your kid plays in? Do you take time off work, miss a shower, miss lunch/dinner.......... It is killing me to think that in two short years I won't get to watch him play if he goes away to school. I told him that whatever college he goes to has to be within a 3 hour drive.

I should find a shrink now.....

I'm not a soccer mom, but a basketball and track mom. We don't travel too far, just local (about 1-2 hours) tournaments. Although next year, my youngest might start with the travel team meaning Las Vegas and SoCal. We need to start saving for that, haha!

Travel Hockey and baseball here...and my son will be 17 in October...so I totally understand. I leave work early all the time, thankfully they understand my obsession. We just got back from a tournament in West Virginia/Pennsylvania...they played 8 games in 4 days. I know my days are numbered too, so I'm going to enjoy every single minute!

These 2 sports take us year round, literally there may be a week of down time in between or sometimes they even overlap! I love watching my boy play :)

After next year, I wonder what I'll do with all my free time...and extra money!! Hahahaha!!

I was a dance mom - traveled everywhere all the time and down at the dance school 24/7, it felt like! Those days are gone, but I can breathe :)

I used to be a soccer mom, never missing my 2 boys' games. Then I was a gymnastics mom for a while- I traveled a lot for that. But I've been a band mom for about 7 years now. I go to all the parades and football games, and some of the local competitions as well. I have a feeling I'll be going to all of them now that we're to the third and last child. :)

5 kids ... all playing aussie rules football & my 3 older kids also umpire games.
I don't usually get to watch the home games very much as I am on the club committee & end up organising the game days.
Furthest we have had to travel was 2 hours away but my eldest son has made it to round 2 of trials for the southcoast team & if he makes that its a 4 hour drive north for the annual tournament. He's excited as his dream is to play professionally for his beloved Gold Coast Suns & this is one of the first steps to getting there

Oh I did the dance mom thing too, 16 years of it! That was even more expensive than the travel sports I think! I miss it sometimes, but my bank account doesn't LOL

That is so exciting! Good luck to him in the trials!

We do soccer in Vegas every once in awhile. It is hot!! This year they are thinking of going to Huntington Beach, CA. I know we can't attend that one so hopefully he calls me each night and gives me the deets. :)

That's so awesome! I hope he realised his dream! Can't say I'd go for the Suns ever, but I love the rest! We are in Melbourne! How did he go, now that I've found this post 8 years on! :D
