Any Harry Potter fans here?

I am such a geek. I just love HP. My nephew got the first book and told me I should read it (when it first came out in -97) I said "I'm not into that sort of thing, but for you, I will read it" I thought I'd muddle through it and then the magic started (no pun intended lol)

I was hooked from the get go.

Now, I read HP fan fiction and love it. So many talented writers out there and they have written some amazing stories.

I'm in the midst of reading the best post war story I've ever seen in the 3+ years I've been reading FF. It is INCREDIBLE how much this writer sounds and writes like JK Rowling herself. The writer has written 9 stories all in order from the hour after the final battle, to when the third generation finishes school. It's amazing....

I just wondered if anyone else here is a huge fan and if so, I really recommend reading this set of stories from a fan who is an incredible writer. :)

I am a huge HP fan as well! I've acquired some FF over the years, but I have never read any of them yet. I think I have some from when HP's dad was growing up??...

I would love it if you share the book titles and author you were referring to that writes after the final battle and on! :)

We are hoping to take a trip to FL this fall - I cannot wait to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

My kids are almost 8 and 5, and they have been hooked on HP for years! :)

Guilty...I adore the HP series, but never read anything by fans...
I, too, would be interested in your recommended titles :)

I love HP! My dad (of all people) tried to get me to read them when they first came out and I was like Kid books? Meh! He kept hounding me until I gave in and I'm SO glad I did! I'm not much into FF, but my sister is a huge FF nut for a lot of genres, HP included so I'll pass it along to her if you share :)

Colleen, you will LOVE HP at Universal!! It's really amazing. You feel like you're there (except it's crazy hot and really crowded, lol) But so worth it! Your kids will have a blast.

I did a page about how much I loved it.

Also if anyone is into online book clubs, The NovelTea group just had HP December where a lot of them reread the series. Lots of fun chatting going on there still, and it's a really nice group.

Also, the lines aren't nearly so bad anymore FYI. That first couple of months after it opened were pretty crazy. You can walk right into Hogshead now. There are still lines for the rides of course, but it's calmed down from when we first went :)

I love it too! I even got my kiddos hooked on it! My 9 year old has already read the first 3 is beginning the 4th book soon!
I've read Fanfiction before, but haven't lately, I'll have to look into it...
Have you gone to Pottermore.com? JK herself writes stories there sometimes too!

Yes!!!! The site I read is fanfiction.net. You have to go through community and then click on books, harry potter and there are a ton of forums. The author i am reading is liitle0bird. Start with First day..that is the first one. Then if you click her name, you will see her profile and there is a list of her books in order. She is fabulous. Another good one that isn't completed, is Nineteen Minutes by tom watson.

I love HP so much my hubby thought we should renew our vows at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter =P. I read Harry Potter to my son when he was in my belly and I can't wait to read the book with him! I stood in line at midnight for books 5-7 and did a few midnight premieres for the movies as well!!!
I can't wait to live close to Orlando. I still haven't been to the Wizarding World but its on my list of things to do once we are back in Fl.

I love the books and movies! Rarely can I say that! Most of the time when I have read the book then seen the movie, I am disappointed!

If you guys play video games, the Harry Potter Lego games are the best ever! My kids and I love playing them! ;)

Sadly, I am the only one who likes HP in our family. My husband doesn't read for pleasure (he's more of a hands on kind of guy) and my DS never got into HP (he loved Divergent though). My little one is too young still but I read her a bit of Philosopher's Stone a few months ago and she loved it, so there's still hope for me! :)

I play the lego games as well! I am well known for turning people into Harry Potter fans!

And I am watching HP7 part two and scrapping =) perfect evening if the toddler would actually go to sleep.

I've thought about how great it would be to get a job at either the Disney or Universal parks. I'd love to know more about how the parks work behind-the-scenes.

Oh Lori, if you are a reader you really should give them a try, they are amazing! AND: my hubby was a "NON-Reader" - Harry Potter was his first book he read since we are together...and now he reads regulary. Only fantasy, but he reads!

I am a reader, but fantasy is not my favorite genre. I much prefer a good murder/mystery. :) Who knows... maybe someday I will read them, but I don't find much time for reading right now... I'd rather spend my time scrapping! :)

I love murder mysteries too Lori. The HP books have a bit of a mystery and lots of murdering, especially in the later books. I think the thing you'd like about HP if you love mysteries is how she weaves in bits of things you read in the first book into the later books to tie things up. There is definitely a bit of "whodunnit" in the first couple. I think if you can get past the idea of it being strictly fantasy, you'll end up liking them. There's romance, violence, family saga, history, good v. evil, great character development, and yes, lots of murders. Sold yet?

Haha.....Jen is spot on...lol...;)

I love a good mystery too. I have read all Harlan Coben's books and also a big fan of Linwood Barclay.

I LOVE Harlan Coben! I met him at a book signing a few years ago. He's really tall! I need to find that photo so I can scrap it...
