Alternate styles in fonts

Does anyone know how to access salt (or other alternative features) in otf fonts? I use Photoshop Elements, and it doesn't have a Character Panel like Photoshop does, so I'm not sure if this means I simply can't access the extra features on some fonts or not. Thanks in advance for any help.

I use Photoshop Elements 2022 and the feature is still not available that I can see- bummer.
I did find a workaround (which was suggested in several different search results)

BUT I tried two different fonts that I knew had glyphs but I never could see them in the Windows 10 Character Map. Maybe you will have better luck.

An option I came across for Mac computers (but haven't tested it yet)
To access the glyphs on a Mac, open Font Book via the Launchpad. Choose your font from the dropdown menu and switch to the display view so you can see all the glyphs. Select the glyph you want to use and copy and paste it into your design. Hope this helps

Another option is Serif Affinity Photo software program - - - very comparable and similar to the full Photoshop. One time purchase with lifetime upgrades. Normal price is $55 but they often have good sales - especially around big holidays and I believe I picked it up for $38. I haven't played too much in this program yet but I did open it up and was able to access the glyphs though the display of them isn't as good as what I recall from when I subscribed to Photoshop... but at least for me it is an option to access the glyphs.

Thanks so much - like you, I tried the Windows character map, but it doesn't show the extra characters for a font that I know should have them (Lucy Said Ok), but at least it's a possibility for the future that might help with other fonts.
The Serif Affinity Photo software program isn't something I know abut, but I'll look it up tomorrow (I'm in the UK and will ne heading to bed shortly)
Thanks so much for your ideas and help - at least I know I'm not the only one, and that's always heartening :)

I don't know if this will help, but I use Wordmark to view all of my fonts when scrapbooking/designing (it's free):
https://wordmark.it/

It works BEST in Chrome. But you can view all your fonts installed on one page.
I will tell you I'm working with 2 monitors now, and it's perfect to see which ones I want to use.

HTH!
