I am actually a certified immunizer so I give flu shots at work. I however don't get them myself, because I am deathly afraid of syringes. I know, it's weird. I had two super bad syringe experiences, and I just can't. That needle gets turned towards me and I want to pass out! So I was wondering if you ladies get your flu shots?

Afraid of syringes or the needle attached to it? ;) Are you a pharmacist? I'm a nurse and the company I work for makes you wear a mask during the entire flu season if you don't get a flu shot. It's easier to get it!

Oh. And funny (now) story. In nursing school we practiced giving shots at flu shot clinics. I was assigned to the one at the government building where my dad worked. My very first shot and I was so nervous. I wiped the guy's arm with alcohol and quickly jabbed the needle in. At the moment the needle pierced his skin he screamed. I mean SCREAMED! I froze, hand still holding the needle in his arm, looking at my instructor with wide eyes. She told me I still had to finish so I did, as he started laughing. My dad put him up to it. They think they're hilarious.

Nope, we got it for our youngest when we were fostering her before her adoption because they made us do it and she was SO SICK. We are not a sickly household anyway. My 14 year old son has only been sick twice in his entire life (he's only vomited 2 times in 14 years). My husband never gets more than a cold once a year from seasonal allergies as well. We are rarely sick.

However, as I write this, lol, ironically, I am down and out with a sinus infection myself. Plus I have thrush. So when I do get sick, I GET SICK...lol.

I work in a hospital so I was required to get one.
I'm the only one who did.
Kids have gotten sick every single time they got it (got 2 different versions one year), and since we stopped doing them for them, they stopped getting as sick. Weird, I know. My husband is the same way.

LOL! Danica, my oldest son is deathly afraid of needles. When he was little, getting his immunizations was a nightmare - like screaming and having to hold him down! :( I was so proud of him the last time he needed a booster for school - we went to Costco because we don't have insurance. The guy came in with the syringe on a tray and Josh panicked-breathing hard and cringing. The guy got wide eyed and figured the whole thing was off. Then, Josh got ahold of himself and told the guy, "I just need a minute." He sat there looking resolute and said he was ready...got the shot and it was all over.

That being said, I don't do flu shots. Normally, we have been very healthy and maybe get one cold a year. Since we've been in our apartment, we've had about 2 a year (YUCK!)...I think because of the smaller space with less ventilation. My mom helps take care of my 101 year old Grandpa, so she gets flu shots every year and tries to talk me into it. I've just never felt like they are necessary.

That literally made me laugh out loud!!
Love it!!

Yes I always get a flu shot each year, I have an autoimmune disease (well a handful of them, they like to have friends), so I get a flu shot every year.

Neither of my kids get it though.

My body and the flu shot don't play nice, but my since my youngest just had surgery last month and because of my chronic heath issues my pediatrician recommended that both of the boys get one, so they did. I can't have it because I'm allergic to the preservatives they use in it.
