10/24/15 RQOTD-do you do your nails?

I am looking at my sad little hands and thinking to myself, even if I painted them, they would still look bad. But I just might since I don't have to type at work the next two weeks. I hate when they chip and then I pick at the paint. Must be a nervous habit of mine.

So how about you, plain nails or full blown manicure?
 
Manicure. Gel nails using Gelish polish #5. Lasts me 2 weeks - sometimes a bit longer. My nails [on their own] have always been thin, awful and I picked at them. I don't with this. She also puts 2 coats of base on.

I have been thinking about doing the gel. I always bit my nails, and am bite free for about five years now. Hubby hates the smell of wet polish too so I feel like a closet smoker because I have to go sit in the bathroom with the door closed and the windows open if I want to paint them.
 
No. I have very strong nails that grow like crazy but sadly because of my work I have to keep them short - they can't grow past the tips of my fingers. So I have to trim them a couple times a week. Once in a great while I'll do some color but to me it looks silly on such short nails.
 
I almost never polish my nails. I really hate when then chip. I'm a picker, too! One little chip and it's all going to be picked off. I guess it's not important enough to me to mess with!
 
I used to, but now with work, I'm not allowed, so I don't, unless I have multiple days in a row off ... and those don't happen anymore hehe
 
Very rarely do I paint my own nails... and I've had 2 manicures in my entire life..... but I have a cabinet full of nail polish because I always "think" that I'm going to start using it LOL.
 
I am a recovering nail polish addict, lol!
Painting my nails used to be one of my favorite hobbies, it was relaxing and loved the creativity of it. I used to be really into it! I even considered starting a YouTube channel of manicure tutorials.
But eventually I got kind of tired of it, I still always have my nail painted, but rarely do anything special.
I'm currently LOVING gel manicures. I got a home system, and it is really awesome! They do not chip, eventually I have to remove them when they have grown out.
 
I usually do my own nails because I have a weird condition where the minute I am cold the bases of my fingers turn a purplish blue. It's not the same thing as heart disease - it's because I'm so white and the nailbed is so thin that the blood pools there and shows up bluish when I'm cold. It scares me (I am a hypochondriac - LOL) so I cover them up. I don't have any on right now and I think Mel and I are going to do a Mommy Daughter Nail Spa day and actually get professional mani and pedis!!! :)
 
I get a pedicure almost monthly but rarely do my fingernails. I got into Jamberry for a while so I use them on my nails sometimes. I like to have my nails done but I pick at them or they peel. Jamberry nails stay on forever when I take the time to do them.
 
Yes Ginger used to do AMAZING nails! I go in streaks, currently its mostly clear polish - does that count?! haha

In HS I used to paint ALL.THE.TIME - crazy colors and all.

My nails go through streaks on if they're long, but lately they have been breaking like crazy (it could be due to the fact that the last 10 years I was taking a prenatal vitamin more often then not, maybe I should start taking them again, just so I can have long and strong nails! LOL)

I do love the nail "stickers" jamberry is fun, but I'm cheap and found a few brands that I can get really cheap that actually fit my nail beds really well! So I use those quite often! Fun nails quick & easy, and dont' chip - usually last at least a week, most often 2 weeks!
