How Was Your Mother's Day?

Yesterday was a bit sad b/c we were social isolated from the family (except for my daughter who is living with us) but we got to facetime and phone chat throughout the day. We spent the morning in our jammies and then Jen and I made the most of our afternoon and went for a long walk with Taz as the weather was beautiful and Taz went swimming. My hubs cleaned the BBQ for me which I really appreciated b/c after sitting all winter it was looking pretty grungy. My daughter and I baked muffins and caramel squares. We cooked up a ground meat mix to freeze for 6 meals and made spiced sausage patties to freeze. Dinner was a stirfry and a few pieces of the caramel squares for dessert later with our evening tea. We binged FBI Most Wanted.

We would normally go out for a big family get-together but our quiet day together wasn't so bad. It was productive but enjoyable. How was yours?

Happy Mother's Day :)

Mine was low key and peaceful. Was spoiled by a nice breakfast of french toast and strawberries, and dinner of chicken and steak kebobs (my favorites) :) We played a few games and my daughter bought me the current season of Blacklist for Netflix...I would normally wait until it came out in fall but this was a nice treat since we have extra time for TV watching.

My niece welcomed a baby girl on Saturday morning...it's so hard not to be able to love up on her but we settled for a nice Facetime call. After 2 boys I'm so happy she had a healthy baby girl and I cannot wait to meet her...hopefully soon!

It was ok. The weather was overall dreary. Hubby and I went to breakfast at our favorite breakfast place.
Older daughter and family did a zoom [facetime] with us.

I watched Mass online on the computer.
Younger daughter sent a lovely text along with a photo of the g'kiddo's with a hug they made for me.

Crocheted some. Tried to start the knit of a scarf but that was a disaster. Trying again today.

Nearing the end of the day, we had a driveway visit with younger daughter, her husband and the g'kiddo's. They brought me the hugs to keep. Made me smile. I had a little treat for each of them. They smiled.

Hubby grilled steaks and I made a salad.

I so enjoyed the day. We went to my son's who lives next door and has been taking care of us for church and the Sacrament. It was also his wife's birthday. We then came home and waited for my daughter in Arizona to call. She ended up surprising us with all of my children on the zoom call. All seven took a turn saying something nice. A couple of the grandkids also said something. One is only a month before he is done with the military and the other comes home in a month from her mission. It was so good to see them and all the other kids. The sang a song "I am a Child of God.' It was the best Mother's Day gift. We then went to my daughter's 20 miles away for lunch. She is a PA and spent the day before delivering 7 puppies that her red lab had. She ended up taking her to the vet because she had delivered 6 puppies (2 still born) and had one more she could not help. She took the time to cut my husband's hair, that needed cut so bad. We were able to bring her daughter home with us. I was so grateful for the day.

Honestly, it was not great, but it could have been worse.

The good parts: James and Hannah called from England with the two grandchildren and sent loads of pictures - it was a delight.
Husband, Rand, treated me so lovingly all day. He cooked breakfast and dinner and was so wonderful. Church was very inspirational (online).

The bad parts: It was Chris's birthday. He would have been 48. I always feel a bit off when Mother's day falls on his birthday. When Grandson, Mark, called, it was a reminder that I have lost two children. It is all usually overshadowed by the kids who come and visit. This year we don't have that. Karen was going to swing by with a card and gift, but she got sidetracked and never made it. Steven, who is usually considerate, did not even call. He was the parent in charge of Bruce on Sunday since Nessa was working and I know he gets a little overwhelmed (anyone would!) but I would have liked a call or text. It is unusual for him and Nessa to not even think of me. I felt VERY sorry for myself.

I actually put down the bad part to the fact I did not walk Sunday morning. I have been walking 5, 6, or 7 miles each day or thereabouts. I did not walk at all, so I think I was missing an endorphin or two.

a little late...Mother's Day was different but nice. Phoned Mom to chat for a bit, visited her on Friday as we decided that the three kids would split a day so I took Friday as I had children to visit on Sunday. It was nicer for Mom too as she had visitors for three days rather than one. Son made french toast for breakfast and we went to older son's for dinner, the rules have relaxed a bit here, no large groups but we still only do family visits with distancing. There was just the six of use and we distanced three on each side of the room, hardest part is hugging my grand-daughter. I enjoyed some time outside with gd watching her on her tramploline and enjoying all the other toys outside (D-I-L runs a home day-care so her yard looks like an obsticle course). We had a wonderful dinner with smoked chicken and ribs, son just bougth the smoker and we were the first to try and it was absolutley delicous. Son made me a couple fancy drinks with his "new" bottle of purple gin, there were relaxing! Home early and watched Netflix.

What a fabulous day surrounded by love. We sing that song on Sunday before sacrament too! And my son is heading to the DR on his mission in August. Small world. So sorry about the puppies. That is hard but raising those 6 and finding them homes will be a job. I bet they are the cutest little snuggly ones.

This Mother's Day was probably the best I have ever had. The kids were home and I cooked Jambalya, potato salad and peach cobbler. I don't like cooking much any more...BUT it was different this day. I actually wanted to and I enjoyed it. It was nice to be with my family :) My youngest bought me mulch for my flower garden and flowers and my oldest gave me money for a 3d printer.
