What did everyone get for Christmas?

I didn't have anything on my list, but my husband and boys surprised me with a new camera. It's a canon rebel T7i. It does video too. I've been way too lazy to figure things out. I think with me having pneumonia and then my husband, it just drained the heck out of me.

I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I'm not making new years resolutions....because I'm terrible at it...but my goal is just try to love more, be more kind and helpful....just a over all better person. :)

I received some lovely and lovingly chosen gifts...a handmade wooden checkers set from 16 year old grandson, a sweet little Christmas tree shaped bowl proudly used for lollies on the Christmas table, a lovely shell handbag charm, an album from all the 8 grandchildren with personal thoughts of what their grandfather meant to them (he passed away in 2018:(), DVDs, jigsaw puzzle, a lunch at a lovely restaurant in town, lots of other things, but the very best thing was the company of all my kids, their spouses, and the grandkids to help me through this first Christmas alone. I asked for company and cuddles and I got those in multitude. I have the best family in the world!!

Awe (((hugs))) Jill...those first holidays without your hubby had to be tough. Glad you were surrounded by family and love.

My hubby got me a Wacom tablet! I had to ask for it and send him a direct link to buy it...but at least I got the one I wanted! hehe

Jill, I am so happy you had a lovely Christmas. I was so worried about you over the holidays, I know it was such a difficult time this year.

Tanya, you camera sounds amazing. You will have a lovely time figuring it out when you are back on your feet with lots of energy!

Cindy, Are you enjoying the wacom tablet. I have one, but I don't really use it often. I don't know if it is because i am left handed, but I always struggle a little with it.

We did Time, Talent and Treasure for Christmas. My daughter did my laundry on Christmas day, and a lot of the clearing up. Steven and Nessa gave me the announcement of a new Grandchild. I got a calendar of pictures of my grandson from my son in England and his wife. The best gift (besides baby of course) was a mini gaming system my son built of leftover computer parts with really old video games for his sister. He included all the favourite games they played as kids - all "Old Style." It was such a big deal for them because we did not allow video games for a long time, then my oldest boy left Steven a video game system (a nintendo) when he died. The kids were thrilled with it and played it whenever I allowed them too. They sat playing the games for a while on Christmas day - we had such a lovely time watching them. He built it out of all kinds of odds and ends - it did not cost him anything at all - he rebuilt an old controller to be compatible. It was fabulous. Everyone loved their books of my mother's life story and their family calendars that I made. It was so much fun.

Lynnie... you always have the best stories that you share. I LOVE that one about the game center. That is so cool and what great memories with it.

I got new flooring for Christmas. Sadly, I would just like it to be finished. We have had to hire multiple contractors to finish the job and I just would like it to be done. I don't know how people remodel houses. The dust is incredible!!!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Trent and I stayed low-key with gifts this year. He added a handful of Alex & Ani bracelets to my growing collection, and I got him a Dog DNA testing kit. Crazy right?! Our dog was found wandering the "mean streets" of Eagan MN (If you've ever been to Eagan you'll get the irony - it's actually a very soccer mom suburb of Minneapolis) As a stray, we have no idea what breeds he is. He's a bit of a drooler so obtaining a dna sample from him was a breeze. We'll get the results in 2-3 weeks. I'll keep you updated! :laughhard:

Jill - The handmade checkers set sounds priceless, a treasured gift!

Jenny, let me know how this works out. I would like to do this with my pup. We found him tied up in a field in 100 degree heat. I know he is some sort of terrier, but he has a curly tail.

Oh Jill....I'm so sorry! I know that must have been hard. I'm so glad that you have such a loving family to help you through it. Sending you lots of hugs!!!! :kisses

I agree with that. My MIL ALWAYS asks what I would like....I gave up and don't tell her anything anymore because she NEVER EVER gets the suggestion....even if it's 5.00

Lynnie, it sounds like you had an amazing Christmas. I loooooove the time, talent and Treasure. The only games that I like to play are the "Old" games. The newer games give me headaches. I was listening to my boys visit the other day and I heard the oldest tell my other son that he wanted to get Raymond because it reminded him of me...because I use to love playing it. THat really touched my heart!! Happy New YEar!

My husband got me a new Vera Bradley bag which I love. And from the movie Coming to America, two funko pops, Prince Akeem and Semmi. We don't get each other a lot of Christmas, its usually the kids.

We tend to focus more on the kids too. But hubby got me a book I really wanted, cherry cordials, and a great candle. DD got me a bracelet, and #1 son and DIL got me another book I really wanted. So I am feeling loved. :D

We typically concentrate on the grands, they're only young for a short time. Hubs surprised me with a Victrola record player :) so I could play my "vintage" vinyls. I immediately searched and found Johnny Mathis and Bing Crosby Christmas vinyl (we just called them records back in the day :) ) I guess what goes around comes around literally and figuratively :)

i got to spend the whole holiday with family (seriously, the ENTIRE vacation up until today!) so that was awesome.

I sent hubby links to shirts I loved from Loft and he picked out a few, and my mom got me the rest! I love having new clothes for work. The HUGE surprise was that hubby got me a dyson. We have all wood floors and the kids track leaves in all the time. i'm constantly lugging out the plug-in canister vac we have. I've been wanting one that is cordless and lightweight for 3 years so I was super surprised!!

This year I got a bunch of Bath and Body goodies- candles, lotions, and soaps. I got a personalized coaster set with pictures of Italy vacation, so cute! Jordan got me a cute sweater that fits and I love it! And my friend got me a Kate Spade wristlet, it's the perfect size!!

oh Jill!! I love the idea of the album with all the grandkids writing notes about their grandpa. What a truly special gift...♥♥

Sweet...some people hate getting things "we" need for the home.....but I don't mind a bit!! I so need new clothes.

I think the dog dna kit will be kinda fun!! I'm not sure what my fur baby is totally.

Love reading everyone's comments...Happy New Year everyone! Hubby and I stayed low key this year since we are going to Cuba in a couple weeks. He got me a Tim Holtz stamp platform (to make my "Dolly" cards) and from my oldest son & family, a frother for all my fancy tea latte's; from my younger son, a craft store coupon to indulgence in what ever I want. My mom gives us a gift card for a restaurant every year and this year it's Olive Garden. And my brother just moved back home after 20 years and I have been helping him settle as he has health issues so he bought me a Hockey sweater.

I love getting crafty things....especially gift cards to get those crafty things. Sounds like a great Christmas!
