How hard is it for you to make a page without adding flowers?

I'm working on a page for my husband of him hunting with his dad and brother...and I want to sprinkle flowers around... BUT I don't think flowers go so much...I'm am holding my self back from adding them. So it got me curious, how hard is it for you to make pages without flowers? Show them if you got em..

here are a few, you can also use hunting kit with guns, arrows and animals without flowers. I have a few of those but cannot find them right now

These are great! Just what I was looking for. You've really captured a way to use elements and not always flowers! Thanks for sharing.

I have a hard time creating without using flowers. For masculine pages I like to use gears, stars, coasters, solid accordion flowers/rosettes, maybe a feather. Leaves and grasses are okay and maybe masculine style flowers like denim or burlap but only as a light accent. I am always in awe of flowerless layouts- they can really look fantastic.

Super hard..I need flowers on everything! lol... I like Rochelle's idea of masculine flowers like demin...

I'm the opposite - I don't really use flowers that much at all, but I also don't use clusters very much. My embellishments tend to be used far less than other people use them, I think. I love papers, and I like templates with paper shapes in the background, so I think that helps to create a look of busy-ness without too many embellishments.

I use flowers with every single layout! Even flowers can look rough and rugged - I don't have a problem with using them on masculine layouts - and I do a lot of them with 5 sons.

I actually use flowers on masculine pages all the time. Because they're my pages and I like flowers, LOL. I had to really look for LO's where I didn't use flowers, but I found a few. And I definitely agree that looking for kits with stars and gears and such is the way to go if you're looking to cluster a lot on your masculine pages.

You could make a big splatter-y painty page. (Or substitute paint for first smears)

Grid pages and pocket pages are easier for me to make LO's without flowers. I love using tags and other elements to fill in the squares.

You can also use round stickers or flair buttons in place of flowers.

There are some really fun Traveler's Notebook (split design) type templates. A lot of them have a simpler design, so you don't "need" many elements, especially flowers. Miss Fish has a bunch in her store.

Annnnd if all else fails, take a template that has a ton of paper layers, and just delete all the flower clusters. You can do that on any template really, but I love doing it with Tinci's super layer-full templates.

Oh, one more thing. If you're into white space, Connie has a ton of cool templates where you could substitute buttons or other small ellies for flowers.

Not that I'm a template junkie or anything......

I was just poking through recent LOs and I really don't use flowers much at all. Mostly, I used themed elements sprinkles about, but sometimes I make clusters out of themey elements or elements other than flowers (like paper cutouts or stars or whatever), and sometimes I have really sparse pages with just papers and pictures.

But I print out my LOs for books, so the most important thing for me is the photo layout (followed by journal notes).

I really have the opposite problem. I hate adding flowers to my pages. I force myself to add them when I am using a kit for a CT layout so I can showcase the elements.

Most of my pictures don't lean towards flowers (NASCAR, tennis and such).

I can manage themed layouts (like baseball games or fishing) without flowers, but I get stuck on a generic layout without flowers. I am a hopeless flower-child!

To be honest it's a bit hard to resist using even a single flower especially when you're used to using flowers that are available in the kit. But I do try sometimes. Like this one: (sorry non GS product)

On this one LO, I tried to use minimal flowers and greenery to showcase the other elements like the house and the fence:

This one kit I used was a mini kit and doesn't have much flowers:

Although I make do of what I have especially when it's a kit with brown colors or blue, because for me, they still look non-girly at all especially if it's a photo of my DH and DD, to balance.

And then there are times when I try to match the colors of the elements that I will choose, to the colors of what the male person on my LO (my husband) is wearing:

My son an autistic teen refuses to have flowers on his pages. When I scrap him I don’t use them if the page is for him. It can be very hard depending on the kit and designer I am working with. I’m so behind in his book for this reason.

Oh that sounds challenging, especially with CT stuff. Gears, stars, and masculine cluster-ables don't come in a whole lot of kits. Is he opposed to leaves or all foliage in general? If not, maybe you could tuck in some of those here and there? Or maybe go through the kits with him and let him pick out ellies?

I just did my first page with no flowers and it was so hard! I didn't realize just how hard it would be. I did sneak some greenery in, but that's it. It turned out pretty well, but I really wasn't sure when I started. Maybe I need to do more.
