How DO You Celebrate Christmas?

How does everyone celebrate Christmas?

In our house since I was young, we always wake up at 12 midnight to open our presents, take photos including the aftermath of the opening of gifts, then we eat our Noche Buena (after taking tons of pictures, hehe). We still carried on the tradition on my family and my siblings'.

We have a big family dinner on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, we'll all get up relatively early, sit around our tree, and open our presents. Sometime after that, we'll have a breakfast of waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. We take it easy for the rest of the day, :D

Now that we are old empty nesters, we have our two daughters and their families, who live locally, around for the evening meal as well as a nephew and sometimes my sister and her family. Our son and family sometimes make it home for Christmas (they live a 12 hour car trip away). If the grandkids have girlfriends or boyfriends or just friends, sometimes they come as well. So we have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 or more. Because Christmas in Australia is hot, the meal consists of cold ham, turkey and salads followed by pavlova, trifle, fruit salad. We have presents in the afternoon when everyone arrives.

Wow that sounds festive! I love big family! Reunion is what I wait for every year which happenes only once a year. And thats when we all have a good eat and stories to share :)

Wow! 12 hours is a really long drive! I love cold ham too. I hope your son will make it home for the holiday.

We have visited and enjoyed Noche Bueno with Latino friends over the years. Mostly 'we' as empty nesters go out to eat Christmas Eve now.
Way back when...dialing back to my youth, open 1 gift on Christmas Eve.

See Santa gifts followed by Mass Christmas morning. Breakfast and remaining presents.

For a span of many years when our girls were growing up, we had an open house.

Now- A low key day for us after Mass until the grandchildren arrive. Always enjoy having visitors over.
