11/07/2015 How long does it take for you to scrap a layout?

I am always amazed with people that can scrap a page quickly. I am not one of those people. It takes me forever. At least one hour to two. I have to make sure everything is just right. It is a rarity for me to complete a page in less than thirty minutes, and I can count on one hand the amount of times that has happened. I am envious of fast scrappers.

I would say I'm the same way. For a long time I had to sleep on a layout. Start it at night, sleep, then finish in the morning. Now I can do it if I have to by just starting and finishing in one go but I start and throwaway a LOT of layouts.

For those of you who rode the "Survivor" boat with me know just how much I agonize over layouts!! LOL. I think I am the slowest scrapper in history. If I do 2 in a full day's work, I am rockin' it. It can and does at times take me hours for each layout.

I am a really slow scrapper as well. It takes me over an hour to complete a LO. Even after it's "done" I sit and futz over it forever so that it is "just right"!! I usually have my boys look at it and then futz some more.

And, if I have to choose the kit, I could sit for hours trying to decide! That's why I don't do speed-scraps!!

Guess you will all hate me!! I just did a layout in 20 minutes! LOL...

If I have an idea in my head, it come so quickly. It's rare I spend more than an hour on one layout. I can usually do two or three in an hour. If one takes me an hour or more, then it's because it's not working the way I want and I just scrap it and start over.

I've always been a bit quicker where creative things come. :) *shrugs*

I think my issue is that I am a better direction follower than I am creative. I do really well with templates and / or parameters to start with. The blank canvas scares my creativity away! That's why Jill is so good for me! ;)

"Hate" is such a strong word...I'm just going to blow raspberries at you! :36_11_22::36_6_3:

20 minutes a layout???? omg.... It happens really not often that I can do this.... with my clusters I really need much time for my layouts.... one hour is the minimum... more often it takes me much longer

For me, I think it depends on what I am scrapping. There are times that everything falls right into place and I can finish a layout in less than an hour. But most of the time it takes me much longer than that. My problem comes with choosing the right papers. I am terrible with mixing and matching.

yeah you suck!!!! Lol

I think I'm on the fast side too. I average around 30 minutes probably, especially if it's a single photo LO. I can knock those out pretty quickly. Project Life Lo's and double pagers take me a lot longer, but if I'm working on something more than an hour it loses the fun for me. One year for iNSD I made nine pages in a day, though a couple of those were pretty simple pages.

I think something that really saves me time is that I do a lot of my journaling ahead of time. I probably have 150 LO's worth of journaling sitting in Evernote right now. If you ever see a page full of deep meaningful journaling from me it was probably written months ago on a random night when I couldn't sleep. Then if a kit comes along that matches something I've written about things come together a lot quicker.

I remember back in the day when I scrapped traditional, that it would take you almost an hour just to set up your scrap area, figure out where you left off last, etc. If you got a page or two done in a whole day, people thought you were speedy!!
I still think that if you are doing a page in a hour, that is pretty fast.
For me now, I *can* do a page in 20 minutes, but don't like to. I think my average is about an hour.

It really depends on the layout for me... If I have the "perfect idea", where I have everything figured out before hand I can scrap super fast. but most times it's an hour minimum, to 2.... then there's the occasional one where I have to just walk away and leave over night cause I just don't know how to finish it off.

I used to paper scrap too, and it was like a mini tornado of paper and crap landed in the room. I think that is why hubby likes digi scrapping better. I should sell my paper supplies though!

It depends - I think I'm slow - about 45 minutes to an hour - but that's honestly because I'm always going between FB and my layout, Pinterest and my layout, and other various sites hehe. If I actually focused I could probably be done more quickly. I don't fuss over them much unless it's a really special layout.

When I first started scrapping it would take forever to do a page but with 30 grandkids and journaling and random layouts I had to get faster. I can generally do a layout in under an hour. Several have been 30 minutes. I still have layouts that take almost 2 hours when I am trying something new or blending

It depends for me. If I'm feeling it, I can probably get it done within the hour. If I'm not feeling it, it could take me several days. Now if it requires journaling, I need quiet and to be able to "think" to journal. That's what takes me the longest, because I want to include everything possible within that small journal area! If I had to guess, on average, I take about an hour from start to finish.

It depends for me too. I mean, if you consider sitting down, checking GS, checking Facebook, organizing some old materials, deciding what to scrap, finding a kit/papers/etc, changing my mind, checking my email, backing up my audiobook because I wasn't paying attention, playing candy crush, and then doing the layout, I would say it takes me about 14 hours.... If I actually sit down and do it, it is actually pretty quick.

LOL I hear ya!

It all depends on the LO - sometimes I can bang them out quickly - when I already have pics weeded and a specific theme/kit type in mind. But then sometimes I cant find a template that fits, so then I design a template, and then often another to finish a pack, and pretty soon I forgot what I'm scrapping!

But then sometimes it all just falls together so quickly. Right now I feel like I'm in a scrapping LULL - which stinks! But I'm trying to be motivated today & tomorrow and bang out the rest of the LOs for my daughters book - the place I print from is having a 50% off sale!!

(gets off GS to go SCRAP!)
