Random Challenge ALBUM LAYOUTS

I talked to Ginger about posting a random challenge and she said great.

Trying to keep this short and simple. I found that I was doing a lot of random layouts with the challenges but did not complete any albums I have been wanting to do.
So I am challenging myself and anyone who wants to join me for the month to create layouts for a specific album of your choosing, whether it be a vacation, heritage, children, grandchildren, poetry, scripture, whatever YOU have on your list of "albums to do."
The other hesitation for me getting layouts done for personal albums was I didn't necessarily want to share my journaling with the whole world and want to respect family members that don't want photos out there.

Simple Steps/rules
1. Reply to this challenge with the album YOU want to do layouts for.

2. Include the number of pages you want to do for the month. Anywhere from 4 to 20....whatever is realistic for you. (i was going to do 10 for this month, but with personal circumstances I know I won't be able to do that so am going for 5)

3. Reply back at any time of the month with how many pages you have completed, or how you are doing.

4. OPTIONAL If you want to upload pages to your personal gallery like you normally would giving credits to designers you are welcome to, (and let us know the page titles so we can see them), but you DON'T have to post them to galleries if you don't want the whole world to see them.

5. There are NO rewards to this challenge, except the joy of being able to work on or complete your album.

I'm sure someone will wonder if they can include a layout they have done for a regular monthly challenge. As far as I am concerned, since there are no rewards for this challenge you can include thel ayout in your count as long as it would fit into your album. BUT you do have to do all the requirements for the regular challenge.

I may not be able to be checking this daily, but will give encouragement when I can.
Any comments, questions, or ideas are welcome.

Deb

I have decided to go back to when I first started going digital. I wanted to make summary pages from the time we were married, on. It never happened, even though I've done umpteen pages.
So My Goal is to do 4 pages as to when/how we met/engagement in Our Life Summary Album for the rest of October

Great incentive Deb for those wanting to create albums.
I am not presently creating any but have done in the past for past major vacations. I had those printed and lost them all when our home was flooded back in 2022. Some of the pages are on the EHDs saved from the flood. I have been tempted to sort them out and have some printed but lack enthusiasm as they really are only my memories and with no contact with daughter and grandchildren they would not interested in them.

I hope you reach your goal this month.

Oh I like this a lot!

I like having lots of projects on the go at one time so I don't get bored. But one thing I try to do each month is to do 10 LO's for that current month. They can be anything- weekly project life, deep introspective journaling, event LO's or cute pet layouts. Whatever I'm in the mood to scrap. I started doing that in 2020 and that's my most "complete" year (though I don't really care about finishing a year, doing it the way lets me do a lot of in the moment journaling about things I might forget later) This year I've been pretty inconsistent with scrapping for health reasons. Some months have 10 LO's and some have 0.

So my goal will be to scrap 10 LO's from October 2024.

I like your thought process behind this challenge. I'm currently working on an album to capture the vacation we took last month. My overall goal is to limit the number of total vacation pages to 110 (that is Shutterfly's limit for a single book). However, I just completed all of the layouts I wanted for the first day of our three-week vacay, and that was 12 pages! LOL! I may have to have a two-volume vacation book set when it's all said and done.

When I work on my albums, it's not necessarily how many pages I want to do in a month, but how many can I possibly squeeze in on the days I'm home and not traveling for work. LOL. But I guess a good rule for me is to try to get at least one page done each day. I'm hoping get a good jump on "vacation day two" layouts yet today. Let's get some coffee brewing and get to work! HA!

Thanks for those who have joined, still welcome to join whenever you want.

A-M (Anne Marie) - Thanks for your encouragement.
hClappy ( Jennifer) - 10 layouts for October 2024
Breoni (Shana) - 1 layout a day, starting on Day 2 of vacation album
DebraB (Deb) - 4 layouts in "our life story" album

About 12 days left of October. I'm sure glad I didn't set my goal to 10 layouts. I'm probably not going to make my goal of 4, I want to be able to enjoy making the layouts and not be pressured to get them done. Busy combining corn, and our daughter and family are coming down this weekend -- specifically so the grandkids can ride in combine! other daughter coming down next week so not looking like there will be time to squeeze in scrapbooking. we will see.

Breoni (Shanna) from looking at your gallery it looks like you have been able to get some of your vacation day layouts done. Enjoy and keep going.

This is such a wonderful idea as I have half a dozen albums on the go but need incentive to get a couple finished. I am trying to finish another book of our grandsons. I always have a second book printed for their other grandparents who live in Korea & don't get to see the boys a lot. I would like to get 5 pages done & have already done two this month. I have a couple of challenges I want to complete for a challenge elsewhere .... am I able to add them to my gallery even though they aren't for GS challenges?
Thank you, Keryn

It is so special that you make a book for the grandmother in Korea, and that you want to join us here.
I will double check with Ginger, I think you can upload the layout to YOUR gallery giving all proper credits, but can not upload and use for any of the regular gingerscrap challenges.

Not to speak for Ginger, but I noticed there is a "Non-Gingerscraps Layouts" gallery underneath the many Scrapping Survivor categories (deep in the options) but it comes up if you type "non" in the "Member Galleries" dropdown bar. I've seen a few layouts using non-GS designers [not for challenges] here while commenting through the gallery :) Best bet is to give proper credit whether you use your own gallery or the Non-GS gallery. <3

Debra, would you consider a calendar an album in this challenge's definition? I'm working on crafting one for the grandparents but still have more work to do.

Yes, photocrazy (Alyssa) I would definitely consider a calendar and think that is a great idea.

I would be open to designing 5 or 10 different birthday cards even. The idea of the challenge is for you, or anyone to in essence set their own challenge to complete/or start a project they have....as long as it has to do with scrapping.

I'm even considering for next month to go through my gallery of existing layouts and sort/organize them for a shutterfly book.

Hi Kessa, so happy to have you joining in on this challenge! :)

Since this is a "random challenge" and it is not going to count for the monthly challenge rewards, the rules are not strict. You can upload your pages to your personal gallery and use them in this specific challenge, there is no problem there :)

not sure how everyone else is doing on their personal scrapbook layout challenges. This month has come and is almost gone, and I'm not going to finish....I didn't get any done this month. Thinking ahead to next month. So if you didn't meet your challenge don't get discouraged, just keep on when november starts, or choose another challenge....with Christmas coming up some christmas Cards, Calendar for the New Year, start your year in review layouts.

I made six pages!! (sharing seven for context and because week 40 was mostly in October, but I'll count it as a September LO)

I didn't make my goal but I'm super proud of the LO's I made, especially with how busy we were and losing our sweet Daisy in October.

Jennifer and Michi--missed your posts since I was looking at the november thread. Great job working on your challenges.
