Last year I was hosting a thread for us to all motivate each other and it all of a sudden stopped..... I had forgotten all about it because of all that happened in my life last year at the end of February.

Due to another member - DebraB I have been inspired to start this again next year but if anyone ones to join in for these last two months of the year you can.

Here is what I stated before about being a Spicy Motivator:
" You might need encouragement in exercising more (that’s me). You might want to do more walking. You might need encouragement to eat healthier or lose some weight. Your desire might be to cook more home cooked meals. Maybe you need some push to get more memory pages scrapped or maybe a desire to do more other crafts like sewing, yarn crafts or painting. "

Now I will add to this.... you might like to set yourselves a monthly goal of how many challenges you want to take part in.... or how many pages you want to achieve for an album you are putting together.

You can start a post and them come back and edit the post each time you achieve something but everyone is welcome to make comments of encouragement along the way at any time. Even send someone a private message if you feel lead to do so. ( If anyone needs to know how to save where their post is please let me know. I think most of you know how to do that with the Cookie Jar for challenges.)

This thread will be for this month and next. I will start a new thread starting in January and will make each thread cover 3 months at a time. Hopefully that will be so that we do not get lost with too many posts to read.

So lets get spicy and motivate each other.
 
Here is my spot and I will be again aiming to do some form of exercise each day and if I did well I will add a smiley face but if I did bad I will add a sad or angry face.

Here is my Spot. My goals will have to do with scrapping.

November 2023 - I set my goal to have an avatar made, and choose a specific album I am going to work on over the winter.
Avator is made. Still deciding on album to make.

:) I've made my decision. I am going to work on an album for our 72 day cruise last year! Will probably work a bit on another one, but that will be my focus.

  • Do at least 10 GB Challenges each month.
    • Nov. 2023: Completed
    • Dec. 2023: Completed
  • Complete my 4 page monthly recap layouts no later than the 7th of the following month.
    • November 2023: Completed on 12/7
    • December 2023: Completed on 1/3
  • Keep my download folder fairly cleaned up. When buying a new kit or downloading the monthly freebie from the blog, don't just leave things sitting in the zip file.
    • November 2023: I still have a couple of things left to unzip but I have done a pretty good job of keeping up with it.
    • December 2023: I didn't do quite as well and need to spend some time unzipping. The different advent and Christmas freebies caused me to have a harder time keeping up.



- Life Related:
  • Write in my journal every day.
    • November 2023: Completed
    • December 2023: Completed
  • Keep up with my Apple Watch exercise rings every day.
    • November 2023: Completed
    • December 2023: Completed
  • Reading/Audio Books: My goal is 50 books in 2024 which means a little over 4 books a month.

Life in General:
* Walk at least five times a week (a minimum of two miles each time)

Ooh, I lived this thread! Thanks for starting it again, Anne-Marie! Go everyone!!!

I may add more goals later, but for now, I want to post on my blog at least once a week. I have been slipping lately, and I do not like that.

Nov 13 - :) ... went great! Haven't changed my siggie or done a page yet, but I've got time.
Nov 20 - :) ... had an exceptional Thanksgiving week; still haven't changed my siggie or done a page yet. May not get that done this month... oh well.
Nov 27 - :) ... oh well, never got the siggie or the page done, but life in general is GREAT!
Dec 4 - :) ... Gonna keep this information here until I here from A-M about the next thread. I'll work on my new siggie this week! Everything "in general" is going great!
Dec 11 - :) ... Everything is fine here, well sorta fine. Got some rotator cuff issues. Gotta find out what's going on with that soon.
Dec 18 - :) ... Going to make an appt for an MRI sometime this week or next depending on when they have time to see about treatment. Wish me luck. Other than that, keeping up with my exercises really well, but for my left shoulder.
Dec 25 - :( ... Haven't heard back re the MRI appt, SO frustrating, pain is still there, sometimes better, sometimes worse, still trying to do my 5-minute office breaks as much a I can, journal and daily meal logs are great, scrapbooking and siggie are still on hold. :-(

 
Just stating to the group I was going to get avatar made motivated me to go and figure out how to do it after 5 years. Took me 15 minutes to find it in the settings, but found it and started. and found i didn't mean avatar I meant profile picture. won't do photo pic of me, but some conglomeration of elements.

Breoni- 75-100 layouts..that's 3 a day till the end of the year. You go!!
 
What a great idea!

Scrapbook-related: do at least 75% of my scrapbooking for ME (as apposed to doing layouts just to appease a challenge- do layouts I will actually print).

Life-related: Limit my grazing and eat only 5 times a day (I had bariatric surgery so can only eat 3/4 of a cup at a time, so it can't really be called a meal and can't really be called a snack lol).

11/14/2023: I did better on my grazing. I didn't scrapbook today.

Well, 11/15-11/19- I stuck to my 75% scrapbooking for me (well, my husband). I was at a scrapbook retreat so I got a LOT done! But, that also meant I grazed all weekend, lol. You have to have snacks all day when you are at a crafting event! lol.

Lynnie, you live a busy life so how do you fit it all in?

Laura, I like your aim to scrap pages for yourself and not just for a challenge.

Carla, are you logging your meals for weight loss?

Ane, I remember enjoying reading your blogs so keep it up.

Shana, I know what you mean about giving up snacks. I have cut right back on sweet biscuits and I am feeling better for it.

Kristi, I like your idea of keeping your download folder tidy.... that is something I need to do very soon as I have unzipped things from the last two months.

well.....I was doing so well and then I learned something I could do in MyMemories software is saving my layout as a 'photo layout' or doing 'duplicate page' and hence having a template to work from. You can't bring outside templates into MM software so that is a biggie. so I was experimenting and playing with it in the middle of the night.

I think I know why it's been 5 years.....I couldn't get it to upload. First I did not want a photo of me so I simply took a scenery 'photo' that I liked. Saved it as a 300 x 300 114kb size jpeg on my computer. went to settings>edit profile pic>chose file from computer (just like I would if doing a layout). clicked the save changes. and I get the message upload failed. What do I do?
As you can all see, I got it!!! maybe be I closed down and restarted? I think I do need to make a little smaller.
 
Breoni - looks like you have some of your vacation layouts done -- that's great.

My goal for today is to stay off the computer from now until after supper. Focus on cleaning the house.
 
Thanks, Debra! I actually completed 20 layouts over the weekend. However, 15 of them were the same template / kit… basically I created a page for each day of the vacation and only swapped out three images for each page. These layouts will serve as “chapter” breaks in the album. But hey… it made me feel really productive!
 
Need motivation/help in deciding an album to work on for the winter. I have narrowed it down to do one of our 72 days cruise last winter. I have the journaling done for each day at port, and photos (5,000+) separate folder for each day to choose the important ones. The other, wanting to do one of my life story from birth to when I got married at 28 years.
Plus of doing cruise is that the journaling is done, negative is it will take a lot of time and if it doesn't get done it is not where it will have a lot of emotional loss for kids.
Plus of doing my life story, realize there is a lot of my life our kids/grandkids really don't know about me. Neg is that for the winter it would really just be doing the journaling, layout with photos since I won't have photos scanned yet.
Any thoughts/tips/suggestions?

It sounds like your life story is what would be most important to your family so maybe start working on it now? Both sound like a huge undertaking and if you are like me, those big projects can overwhelm me and then I lose by mojo so maybe going back and forth between the two will help you stay motivated?
I am a real goal setting and am motivated by challenges so if things like that help you maybe set some realistic goals for each project, specific things that could be completed by the end of each week through the winter? Even if you don't complete either project at least you will have gotten started on them and have the goal broken down into attainable chunks.
Keep in mind that this is a hobby and is supposed to bring you joy or at least a sense of accomplishment, so if it feels like too much of a chore it will be harder to keep motivated. So you do you and do what brings you joy! :D

I keep forgetting to come here and post! I posted on my blog last week (Thursday) and this week (also Thursday).

Karen, you have some great goals. You will be able to copy and add what you have shared when I start a new thread next month. I hope to start a new thread every 2 months so it does not get too long and difficult to keep up with everyone.
 
I am all up to date! So far so good! I need to be better at my download folder but the daily downloads from the blog always take me a while to get unzipped since there are so many of them. I typically make a new folder at the beginning of the month and then download each day to that folder but don't unzip and organize them until the first of the next month, so Nov. daily download hasn't been done yet as well as a couple of downloads from the past couple of days.

Kristi - that is great you completed your goals.

I completed mine in my first post, but this makes sense doing it here so everyone sees it as current.

I made my avatar and decided to work on the 100 page album of our 72 day cruise last year. I normally do challenges and scrap to that challenge and 1-3 photos, journaling. Any recommendations on larger album? pick out 3-5 kits and just use those? pick and choose from elements that I think will generally fit and opy, making one folder titled vacation trip 2023 with all the supplies?

Jan 1 - :) ... WELL! The very next day I went in for my MRI and it went well. Haven't heard about the results, but it's done, so that's down and my shoulder actually doesn't "hurt" quite as much, bonus! I've had the last 10 days off from work (I work for the school district) and we start back tomorrow so we'll see if that changes. Now, to get busy on my page(s) and siggie for the NEW YEAR!!! :)
 
I am such a failure as being a motivator... .I need motivation to get motivating !!!
Middle of December I forgot all about us Spicy Motivators. I wish there was a way that I received notification when things are added to this thread.

Should we start a new thread for this year of 2024 or keep going with this one?
