way to change 12x24 into 2 separate 12x12 pages

Is there a way to change a 12x24 into 2 12x12 pages? Right now I'm saving the full page to .jpg and then cutting it in half. I would like to do this step while still a TIF file and I probably have the action on one of my EHD's but darned if I can find it when I search *.asl and *.atn. Thank you!
 
When I use a 12x24 template, I set my crop tool at 12x12, then I crop the right side, save that (as a PSD or TIF, whichever one you prefer). I then click undo, to bring it back to a 12x24 size and repeat the same thing for the left side.

After I'm done saving them I will open them both up and then delete the layers that are not necessary, and re-save them. The impacts the file size, making them a smaller file size. That is not a 100% necessary step, I just like ot keep my file sizes as small as possible.

If you are using PS or PSE, go to Persnickety Prints website. Look under freebies on their blog for a free action that will cut your layout in half. I've used it now for over 3 years. It's the best!
 
I don't know why your photos would turn sideways. I do it the exact same way as Ginger, and I have never had anything rotate on me.

Hopefully the action from Persnickety Prints will work for you! :)

Thanks for the link! I pretty much steer away from doubles because I don't want to mess around with dividing them up. Maybe this will change now!
 
Sad to hear you avoid 2 page spreads because of this :( I made an action for myself and it takes about 10 more seconds to save both sides of my LO to print! I love having coordinating pages, and only having to drag in all my stuff once, and duplicate it as many times as I need!

I didn't know they had actions out there, how great! Hope this encourages others to try 2 page templates!
 
I also made an action. When I do get my layouts printed into a book (I'm so behind!) I use 8x8 and with the edge business at Artscow, I have to resize them to 7.75 or something like that, so I had to make my own action.
 
Just adding a thought here . . . directions to installing an action would be helpful to some. I've been digi-scrapping for 7 years, and I'm still learning new things. It's amazing! Just during this year, I learned how to save a TIFF file in the smallest size possible, so I'm constantly going through my stash and resizing all the TIFF files of my own and others that are not correct. You would be amazed at the hard drive space I've recovered!!
 
How do you do that? And is there any reduction in quality? I save my completed TIFF files because sometimes I realize I've made a spelling mistake (usually just after I load to gallery and it's 1am so I daren't re-open the file and fix it) and sometimes because I do a page to match a challenge but in order to be more specific for the person and/or book I'm making it for I will go back and make some changes (okay to be honest that's the plan... haven't actually done that yet - too busy making new pages)
 
You'll have to Google how to install the actions. Each version of PS or PSE installs actions differently and installation on a PC or MAC is also different.

If you were asking how to save a quality, stabile TIFF in the smallest file size, here is the image of the settings I am now using (I am on a pc, but if you're on a mac simply use that button instead):

I am sharing this as much as I can because for most of my scrapping years, my TIFF files were larger than my psd files; wrong-O! I kept reading that it should be the other way around, but I was afraid to punch buttons in my own program! LOL!
