Ugh! EHD failed!

So I've been so diligent for the past year about picking up each Daily Download piece. I love getting them each day. It's like a little gift to myself every day.
I was out of town for a week (on a cruise away from the internet) and my hubby donwloaded the pieces for me. Only the old external hard drive failed. I lost 6 days of the DD. So now I'm missing 17-22 for this month. I've got a incomplete alphabet.
:shock

Dang technology.

Sorry I just needed to vent.
:cryhard:cry2

Oh no, I'm so sorry! That happened to me earlier this year. I went to the computer shop and they were able to recover it, but it cost $500! and that's only my pictures, videos and layouts. I lost almost all of my kits. Oh technology! {{HUGS}} to you! xoxo..♥

Maybe Ginger will help you out. Will PM-ing her work or should she send a trouble ticket through the store?

A couple months ago I received a Fatal Hard Drive error and Location not Accessible error for one of my EHD while I was using it. I could see that it was listed in the Windows File Explorer Folder tree but clicking on it only gave me the error messages. I did a quick search for EHD Fatal Drive error and one of the recommendations was to run the CHKDSK command with some additional parameters that would allow CHKDSK to try to fix errors. My first run through got interrupted but even with the partial run I was able to access the drive. I also copied and pasted the "report" that list some corrupt files. I went through and deleted them. I haven't taken the time to rerun the CHKDSK command since then but I have been using the EHD with no problem. Sure can't hurt to give it a try.

This is the page I followed to get the EHD accessible and usable again.

Send me a support ticket and I will see what I can do :)

EHD failures are such a bummer :(

One thing that I cannot recommend enough is to have some sort of automatic cloud based back-up.

I use Backblaze and lost 2 ehds around the same time. Plus at other times, I accidently deleted portions of my scrap stash. It automatically keeps a backup any time I add or change something on my computer (and my selected ehd as well). I can go to their website at anytime and backdate to the last time something was there and direct download. If it is a bigger file amount - like your whole computer or all your pictures, they will send me an ehd will all of my content on it. (This does cost a fee, but you get it back when you return the external they send you). Backblaze has saved me multiple times on both a small and large scale.
