Template Tip

This might be something that lots of you have already done, but I only thought of it the other day, and I have to say that I love it. I have a lot of templates, from a lot of different designers, and when I start a new project it used to sometimes take a while just to find the perfect template, or one that I wanted to play with.
I've recently put a folder inside my Ginger Scraps folder, called Template Previews, and I've copied the jpeg previews from every template that I own in there. Now, I just go to that folder and look through it to find the perfect template. No more opening dozens of different folders to find that the templates inside just aren't quite what I was looking for. :)

Great ideas ladies! The previews would make looking for the perfect template a breeze and knowing how many photos is great for planning. Thanks for sharing!! xoxo... ♥

That is a great idea. I have them all sorted into folders as to how many photos it uses but seeing a preview would be even better. Thanks for the tip.

The preview page folder is one of my main organizational treasures. I have one for Templates, one for kits and one for bundles, and then word art

I just recently started doing that. I have my templates sorted by Designer, number of photo sports, theme etc,

I keep them with the designer. Then tag by photo spots using Adobe Bridge.

I got frustrated with tagging after PSE kept crashing, so now I use folders. I've just started to organize my templates into folders of photo spots. It is SO helpful!! I have the original folders. These are additional. It might be overkill, but it really helps!

I deleted all my jpegs (previews) and PSD files. Now I only use TIF's. The tif's are layered files that are also a preview. I also organize my number of photos.

When everyone is saying "preview" are they just saying they copied the template into another folder just with templates to look at?
Like....when I get a kit...I copy the preview of the kit into a folder that says "all kits" so I can search in one place when I'm getting ready to do a hybrid project.

In terms of previews for templates only- Windows File Explorer can't show or "read" PSD files- you just get an icon with PSD on it rather than a view of what it actually looks like so it is handy to have a JPG preview or as Jennifer said the layered TIF format of the template to view when you are browsing your collection of templates.
