Spin off: What's the grossest or weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

My DH and I are pretty avid watchers of Bizarre Foods. DH would eat anything from that show and has expressed interest in finding some of the strangest products that they've highlighted....

We've eaten ostrich, kangaroo, ox, grasshopper tacos, mealworm stew to name a few. Dh wants to try camel and guniea pig and would love to eat more bugs. (sorry, not for me!) He even wants to try ballout (which are the duck eggs they eat on survivor that weren't viable but still have the fetus inside!)

We've tried Durian and the smell was horrendous! If you can get it past your nose, then it's good.

Curious as to what weird foods you've tried?

I've had crickets, alligator, and frog legs. Nothing too crazy. I do like weird ice cream. I've had garlic and cayenne flavored. I think I would try anything except ballout or brains.

I am a total foodie wimp!! Just watching them eat the weird things they are offered for challenges on the TV reality shows makes me heave!!

There is a place in Vegas called taco el gordo that does have brain, tongue, and misc. organ tacos. I have never tried them but hear they are quite good. Bugs are not for me either, other than escargot I suppose but when it's all covered in breadcrumbs butter and garlic who really can tell what that is anymore.

Love escargot! We also love tongue..just bought a beef tongue on the weekend. It's so good in a crockpot all day..yum!

I stick with normal food. And even some normal food I won't eat out of ethics or my own personal beliefs on not eating animals that I once owned as a pet. I mainly stick to Chicken, Turkey, Beef (not Veal), and Pork and some fish but it has to be cooked just right and usually only eat white fish because then they don't taste too fishy. LOL

Wow, you are adventurous! I'm open to trying exotic fruits and vegetables (like horny melon, pawpaw and fiddlehead ferns) but I can't do meats. I'm not a vegetarian; I just stick to animal parts I can identify because I'm a wimp. My Dh eats all sorts of craziness...

Oh I love fiddle heads. Hard to get here.

When we were adopting Drew in Korea I'm pretty sure I had some of the octopus tentacle on the seafood pancake despite my best efforts to avoid it. I'll stick with Bulgogi and Mandu please!

I've had crickets and ants and worms. More recently, my stomach demands that I not eat strange foods anymore. :)

I am definitely not adventurous when it comes to trying crazy foods. In fact, I will admit, I may have gagged a little reading some of the things you guys have eaten!! You definitely have me beat!!! :shy:

I used to be obsessed with the show, Fear Factor. I wanted to be on it SO bad! I had a girlfriend who threw a Fear Factor style Halloween party...my competitive nature showed up. In the end I ate pickled pigs feet, straight wasabi, 10 packets of soy sauce, and worms. I won...but my stomach was not happy!

Mine happened just this week...My daughter gets Universal Yum boxes in the mail and shares the tasting experience. I think this month is Thailand. There was a weird fish pretzel stick. It tasted like someone was cleaning fish and spilled the water on the pretzels before baking...so gross. On the flip side, we discovered a few really good snacks. I think she cancelled after this box though...It was too awful.
