I'm researching scanners. I don't want an all-in-one because I need something that is relatively portable (under 10 pounds?). My grandpa is 99 years old and I'm planning to go to his house for a couple of hours once a week and scan photos from the albums he has. Most of the albums are old and have no journaling or labeling in them. I'm hoping that this project will catch his interest and I'll be able to get more stories from him as I'm scanning.
I will also need to scan slides and negatives of old photos - quite a few of the negatives are large format, not 35mm.
I know there are companies that will do this, but right now it's not within my budget, so I want to at least make some headway on them.
Do you have a scanner that you love? Have you done a project like this? Any suggestions, tips or hints?
