QUESTION!

I am a bit confused over the posting of LOs into the gallery...up until now I have posted mine into my member's gallery if it is not for a challenge. If it is for a challenge, I post it only in that particular gallery and when I open my own gallery they are there as well. It occurred to me today that the challenge galleries may be cleared at some point in time. If that is the case, then are my LOs that are posted only in the challenge gallery lost from my own gallery? I guess the main question is should I use the optional category function when posting LOs? Thanks.

Hi Jill. I'm not 100% sure (maybe just 95%, lol), but I'm pretty sure everything defaults into your personal gallery. So even if you post in a challenge gallery or specific designer gallery, if those clear, it will still be in your personal gallery. The only thing that might disappear would be the comments.

I always UL to my member gallery first, then add the additional gallery of the challenge or the designer. Because if the designer leaves...then so does her gallery [my LO], same thing if the challenge gallery is deleted. Now I wouldn't think a challenge gallery would be removed, even if they are archived.

Yes everything defaults to your gallery when you upload, but not sure if it were to be deleted if it would stay - let me ask GInger! :)

Yes, this information IS correct. I have never seen a challenge gallery removed. I think even challenges we no longer have are still there (although I haven't checked) and yes, if a designer leaves so does her gallery. But it is also correct that it automatically saves to your gallery as well. So you should be covered. :)

YES!! It shows up as one of MY PHOTOS when I do NOT choose my category, but when I deleted it from the designer album it is GONE. SO ALWAYS choose your category if you want it permanently in your album!

NOW that being said, you have a set limit on uploads of 8, and every album you choose counts as part of that 8 each 24 hours. SO if you have a few layouts to upload, load them ALL to your album THEN edit to add catergories.

Thank you so much for the input, ladies. I haven't put anything into a designers gallery yet...I thought they might be only for the CT layouts. I have uploaded most of mine into their respective galleries if for a challenge or my members gallery if not. So, just to be clear:

Challenge galleries are historically not deleted so anything I have in those are safe?
Designer galleries are removed if designer leaves or retires so anything I have uploaded only to that gallery would be lost?
So the best routine to upload first to my gallery then use the optional categories to put the LOs into the designer or challenge categories?

I have to say I am a little uncomfortable with there being two or more copies of the same LO in the gallery thereby potentially splitting the comments(I have already commented more than once on the same LO causing me some senior moments of thinking I must be crazy..I was sure I had commented on this before:D) ....hmmm...need to do some thinking.

Yes, you are correct, and sometimes having the 2 LOs out there results in comments in multiple places.

Designer galleries are for ANYONE who uses designer products here at GS - in fact as a Designer - I appreciate seeing others post their LOs into our gallery! :D

Thanks for the information regarding who posts in the designer galleries Trina. I put one of my early efforts into a designer gallery and then withdrew it thinking it might not be the done thing:)
