Printing Preferences?

I recently received my first printing order and ended up a little disappointed. I don't think it was the printer, I just think I had different expectations, with this being my first time and all. I wasn't sure whether to get glossy or matte, but I went with matte on card stock because I didn't want the fingerprint issues (even though they are going into an album sleeve). I guess I was expecting more of a crisper matte photo finish on card stock. Am I being unrealistic? What are your printing preferences? Where do you order your prints through?

Ive only printed a handful of 4x4 cards for mothers day and had the same feeling. My inkjet test prints when I did my first 2 layouts were better than that and I was stretching to a legal size full page (gawsh thats embarrassing )

Id love to know others opinion too because I'm in the same boat as you

I print using Scrapbooks to Share (https://www.sbtoshare.com/) and I am always REALLY pleased with them.

I usually get their glossy paper rather than cardstock. You can request a test set of papers to see which you like best. I find the paper more flexible when turning pages, etc. It is more fun to look at. They slip into page protectors, so no worries on fingerprints.

The important thing to remember, though, is start out with a high quality layout. Scrap at the same size and resolution as you are printing. I almost always print 12 x 12, so I scrap 12 x 12 with 300 ppi. I save at the maximum resolution. I try not to put anything right at the edge of the page so nothing gets cut off.

I had a few pages (12x12 layouts) printed at persnickety prints, and I love them! The pages are cripy and I love the outcome of the color. I bought a 3x4 and 12x12 credits last year because they got a sale, but I haven't used them yet. I totally recommend them.

That was who I used. I've emailed them a couple of times to talk about it politely but they don't respond. They might be dragging it out till my 14 days are up and then they can say it is past the time frame they can do anything about it. :(

They are pretty amazing with issues - so I am sure that they will not use the 14 days against you. I just got a HUGE order from them - about 400 pages and they all look gorgeous. I think we need to see what the problem is to make sure that your layouts are gorgeous too!

I finally heard from her today. She is going to reprint them glossy and I just have to pay the shipping. :)

She is the sweetest person! (Lisa, right?) I got a delivery today of 428 pages. I was so incredibly excited and I have been looking forward to getting them so much. Then I unpacked them and realized I have to sort and put away 428 pages.

They are gorgeous - I am so pleased with them. But I would recommend to everyone that they get them printed more often than I do!

Holy crap! That is one serious backlog of prints! If I were closer I would totally come help you sort them...organization is my thing!

I wish you did too. I had already printed out about 300 and sorted those and put them away. I have another 2 or 300 to print. Then I am going to stay caught up. I wish I could scrap and print books, the problem is I scrap for the kits, not find the kits for pictures so I am always backwards. I say "oooo, I have a picture that would suit that kit perfectly!" It has always been an issue, my scrapping is all over the place.

Sounds to me like we need a babysitter to take the kids to Disney so you and I can scrap by the pool while holding a drink with an umbrella in it!

I used to scrap in chronological order when I paper scrapped. I used the CM 11x15 albums and loved it. Everything is so nice and orderly. My 27 albums line up so nicely on the shelf........ Those were the days when my kids were young and napped in the afternoons.
Fast forward several years and I started only doing digital scrapbooking in the 12x12 format, and joined creative teams. I don't ever scrap chronological anymore and I have no idea what I am going to do if and when I ever print an actual page out. I haven't done any printing of pages since 2009. Ekkkk.
I take that back. I did do a Project 365 or 52 or whatever that was (picture a day/scrap a week on a page type of thing) in 2010. Printed that book and hated it. Never printed another page. But I do have a EHD full of pages that should be in albums, some day.

Oh Heidi, start printing them. I am so happy I did, even the pages I am not crazy about and have noticed problems with. I may or may not fix and reprint, but I am so thrilled with having the pages in albums.

I'm embarrassed to say I have never printed any of my digital pages...I'm going to have to correct that at some point.

Thankfully I've only been doing this for a little under 2 months, so I started printing from the start. I don't have a whole lot of layouts though...only about 17 so far. About 5 of those haven't been printed yet.

I use scrappingsimply.com and I choose the matte finish as well. I have always been happy with my orders from them for my 12x12" pages.

Hi ladies. So I had a few of my recent layouts printed in a book at shutterfly.com. They had a 50% discount last mother's day so I grabbed the chance and printed 60 page. They have 50% discount again today till June 18!!

I love the pages, they're thicker that what I expect because at blurb, the regular pages are too thin. The colors are crisp and I really love it, turned out to be great. The only think I don't like was the cover. It was like a smooth leather that didn't hug the cover board correctly. But overall, I would order again!
