Porject Life and Layout Help & Tips?!!?

Okay, how come all the layouts I see using this approach are so clean and cute and my attempts just looked cluttered and overwhelming and so very crowded?! Im trying to swtich to this style but it's not working so well. This is my first attempt at it, and I was creating a spread for February, followed by some pages of some of the homeschool stuff we did that month.

But... bleck.

Any tips!? Thanks!

If this is a different style for you, I think you did a great job here. I don't think it looks too crowded at all. I might add some journaling or words to describe all of your activities and lessons as well though.

I do these kind of "blocking" layouts all the time and mine are super full of photos! I also try double matting some of them as well. Here are just 2 of my recent ones done in this "style" of scrapbooking.

Oh wow, I love this! Is this a template? How did you double mat them? I can't believe how not crowded this looks despite a lot of pics!

I use photoshop. The first one is one of several templates I created myself. The second one is a template by Tinci. https://store.gingerscraps.net/Tinci-Designs/ . I'll admit, I'm a total addict when it comes to her templates! LOL
I simply select the "block" resize by going to "select" "modify" "contract" and choose the pixel size. Then I select "new layer" and create a new layer for the photo. This leaves me an option to add a colored paper to my first layer and the photo to the second layer.
A white stroke is usually my "go to" as well for my photos to make them pop!
