I am usually really good at stuffing the stockings, but this year I'm at a loss.

My 13 year old and my DH are giving me difficulties. My 5 year old dd is done. :) (well I have to get her a flashlight still because she asked Santa to bring her one the other day!)

So, if you don't mind indulging me, please could you give me your best stocking suggestions? Thank you!!!

I haven't even thought of stocking stuffers yet, but normally I do a flavored Chap Stick and a couple smaller toys (like match box cars, small Lego Sets, or Monster Trucks for both boys and NO candy. They won't eat it anyway... Although, maybe I should put some candy in their stockings so I can eat it!

But since you have an older child what about things like Chap Stick, Lotion, Body Sprays, ect? I'm not sure if you have a boy or a girl!

As for the hubby, what about something like a tie chain, tools, or something he can use for work?

Checked out your gallery and your 13 yo is a boy... I have a 13 yo boy too, so I'll be interested in suggestions. Most of what I usually do is candy, honestly, but I will also throw in things like a deck of cards, pens/pencils, maybe a gift card, mini Lego set, etc. Oh, and a lump of coal, of course. (JUST KIDDING!) :)

I'm good at girl gifts, not so great at the boy stocking stuffers. For my girls I've done- socks with holiday motif, GC to local movie theatre, holiday themed earrings (snowmen or penguins from a place like Claire's), the flavored chapsticks, bath gel in little sample sized bottles, sampler bottles of expensive perfumes I picked up from a nice dept store earlier in the year, silly pens for school, Uno card game, blingy keyring, the little charms that were popular to hang off a cell phone, underwear, hair gel, hairbands, the individual bags of their fav roasted nuts, rolls of LifeSavers, and packs of gum.

Gift cards - coffee shop, movie theater, book store, other activities
tools, mini flashlights
mini notebooks, fun pens & pencils

My 15 year old said...mom, can you tell "Santa" (he used his fingers to make quotes!) I would like diamond stud earrings.

I told him, if you want them, you ask Santa, otherwise I'm telling him to get you underwear!

But nope, Santa is not giving him diamonds. If anything, I'll look through my stash, I'm sure I have some somewhere, haha!

I have 3 boys (13, 11 & 9) and I usually put in toothbrush & travel toothpaste, travel sized shampoo/etc for when they go on "trips", flashlights, glo sticks, socks, gloves (the stretchy ones), mechanical pencils, pens, M&Ms, gum, ear buds, little lego sets, batteries (AAA for their game controls). They love it all.

THANK YOU!!! Those are some great ideas. I really appreciate them. I'd love to give little lego sets but here (Canada) they are very expensive. Just a small mini set is 9.00.

I picked up a few things today and toothbrush was one of them. :) Yesterday I went to this amazing peanut/chocolate shop that only is in business in a few towns in my province (Ontario) called Picard Peanuts. I got my son the COOLEST thing. It's a dried corn cob that you can put into the microwave and it's pops into popcorn. He will LOVE it! (he loves popcorn) They also have hulless popcorn seeds which I will be buying as well next visit. :)

Em, I lol'd at you going to give your son a pair of your earrings. Something you don't hear everyday! HAHA! :)

I found the popcorn on a cob too this fall and picked up some to put in their stockings. I think they'll get a kick out of it. The little Lego sets we have here during the Holiday season are really tiny (about 10-15 pieces) and cost about $3-5. Too bad that's not an option for you. Sounds like you are well on your way to having some happy kids!

Thanks Jennifer. :) My kids don't get much during the year as far as frivolous things, so I tend to go a bit overboard at Christmas. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but secretly, he gets a huge kick out the kids' faces when they open their gifts too. ;)

I have a 14 yo son, so I have been debating it as well. However, he is very into putting things together. So, we will probably get things like little robots, nerf bullets, 3D puzzles, SD cards/thumb drives.
I am still looking though - it is a lot harder

I always buy my three kids Christmas ornaments(10 yo girl, 7 & 4 yo boys) so they go in their stocking. Chapstick, hand sanitizer with a holder for the older two to put on their book bags, small craft items (like things to paint, a cross stitch kit, markers, pencils, or erasers), and always an orange at the bottom! My mom and grandma did that for me every year so I do that too! Nail polish, socks, head bands or ponytail holders, and a new bracelet charm for my daughter. Batteries for my boys' Hess trucks, card games, matchbox cars,....I could go on and on. Dollar store and the craft store is usually where I go for all the stocking stuffers!

getting awesome ideas here!!! Thanks so much Trace for starting this thread!

I'm getting my girls (16 twins) a Google Play gift card (one actually asked for one), and still thinking for the rest...

Scratchies are a great idea!

I wish I could buy matchbox cars, I get a kick out of them! Such funky rides! LOL!

I have teen boys & usually put candy & itunes or Starbucks gift cards in small amounts.
