No Cap!

Ha... so as I'm preparing for our annual youth tour, I've been sent some videos with the latest slang that kids are using. Some of them, I have no clue what they mean or how to use them. But I do understand that "no cap" means "I'm not lying." LOL.

Do you scrap the "slang" of the youth in your life? Do you have kids that speak a different language based on the current slang? Do you have any tips for me to communicating with the kids I will meet this summer? LOL!

I haven't heard that one! I usually learn the big kids' slang by context. When I have to ask, they always laugh then answer or tell me to look it up on Urban Dictionary.

Ha.. I finally found a video series of a teacher who explains all the new slang (e.g. Ohio, Skibbidy, Riz, etc.). He talks about the origins and how each term has become part of this new generation's vocabulary and what it means. I think learning this new slang should count as a second language! LOL!

No cap...No lie...for real. I was told that was the meaning.

I replied, Like yeah...I can dig it, man.

Slang is so funny, I swear my 16 year old nephew was talking to his friend the other day and it was like a foreign language! HAHA And I'm pretty "hip" too (I guess the fact that I just said "I'm hip" make me very UN-Cool) LOL

I have found that if I use "their" slang often and incorrectly, they stop using their slang around me! LOL!

Slang terms - just when you think you know what is being used kids come up with a whole new set.

It's funny you brought this up. Yesterday while I was waiting on our local pharmacy to re-open after their lunch break, we listened to a 15 minute conversation where they were having a discussion about slang terms being used and what they grew up with. There was nearly a 40 year spread of slang being thrown around and it was like listening to an episode of "Whose Line is it Anyways."

I have zero clue as to the slang. I appreciate you 'educating' me on this one.

So the kids started talking about Rizz and were shocked that I knew the slang. So I threw out a couple more words to their delight and horror! HA! It was a good time! LOL!
