journalling help

I am creating album for one of my friends. It mostly has pictures of her daughters and so those pages are pretty much self explanatory. All they really need for journalling is location and date. It's the other events that I'm struggling with. For example - her husband's 40th birthday. I'm thinking 3rd person is probably best especially because I don't know him that well (they got married in 2011). I know the 5 w's are probably best but how much detail is too much? If it was paper scrapbooking I'd just leave space for them to write in but this is going to be made into a book. Hopefully, fingers crossed, completed and printed in time for Christmas.

Can you surprised them with the layouts digitally; then have them give you the journaling? Then you can add the journaling and print?

I gave my SIL a wedding album for her bridal shower gifts. I just shared a different sample layout with her and a special note for each shower. Once I had completed the album, I uploaded it, and shared the link with them. Then, they went through and gave me all the journaling. :)

I know I'm working on a special vacation album for a friend of mine, and planning to keep most of the pages, simple, but for others I plan on asking her what went with certain pictures. I'm not necessarily showing her the pages, but just telling her I'm working on something special for her and wanted to know more about such and such a picture :)
