How Many Photos Do You Take?

I got my iphone at the end of November, 2014. Since then it has been my primary camera. I've still used my point & shoot, but not very often. Last week, the photo count on my iphone turned over to 0001 for the 2nd time. So, since November, 2014 I've taken over 20,000 photos! I do take quite a few that are "burst" photos, but I was shocked that I could take so many! Now I just need to get them scrapped!

How many photos do you typically take?

mmmm... not exactly sure of the number, but probably 'too many'- and I'm ok with that for several reasons.
Sometimes, not sure of the shot.
Sometimes, not sure of the moment
Sometimes, not sure why the H*** I took it in the first place but might have a good use for it one day....

I'm right there with you! I LOVE digital...if you don't like a photo, it's no big deal :)
My boys don't understand because they never had to use a 'film camera' with limited photos!

Not enough. I used to snap photos all the time. And that was with a point&shoot. But now that I've got all this savvy tech stuff on my smart phone, my kids are sadly a little older and not doing all the "fun" new things that younger kids do. I do try to get some "un-posed" daily shots in here and there, but sad face, now my pic taking days are for "special" events and such more than just everyday things like when they were younger.

I totally understand that, Kiana! My kids are not young anymore, but I do find times to take photos...we were in Target tonight & the Halloween costumes are out. I snapped a few of my boys playing with hats, etc :) Major mom triumph!

According to Flickr, where I upload EVERYTHING, hehe
Just the past few years. :D

This was a bit eye-opening for me. I'm behind on picture taking this year!

2006- 495 (first year of marriage)
2007- 622
2008- 1178
2009- 3052
2010- 2538 (started scrapbooking in August)
2011- 7084 (taking lots more "everyday" photos, and not just event and holiday pics)
2012 11,926
2013 17,822 (lots of traveling this year, I'm still going through these)
2014 14,033
2015 so far 7109

I think this year my husband and I are being more intentional with our photo taking and that's part of why our numbers are so low. We're not snapping 5 or 6 pictures of the same thing. I feel a lot less overwhelmed by my photos this year, but I wish I'd taken more. I think somewhere around 10,000-12,000 a year might be my sweet spot.

Wow! You guys are way more organized with your numbers than I am! LOL! I think I would get overwhelmed if I looked at it that way...I'm good looking at my individual folders that are ready to scrap :)

I just made a quick search by year in Aperture. I sort mine by the month so it's not quite so overwhelming.

LOL, I like Michi's answer! I'll stick to that, too!

But I love how you all keep track of the pictures. I really have no idea, although I could go through each month...lol.

I'm with Kiana, as the kids get older, mainly my oldest-he's a boy- he has no desire to take pictures. He will with some of his old buddies but not with his new friends...at least that he'll let me scrap. Maybe he doesn't want his new friends to think his mom is a dork, haha!

I went through 15,000 this year and that is after I deleted 50-75% so in a year somewhere between 30-40,000. I don't have stats as the photos are arranged and seperated but files of individuals or catagory so I would have to go into each one to find out how many a month. Just know I went through 15,000 last month because I had not taken out fair photos and had to look for some.

Hmmm...well I have two huge photo boxes sorted with developed pictures. In those alone, I have over 8,000. They are from childhood until about 1998 ...most need scanning too. UGH.

On my EHD I have photos from 1999 (when I got my first digi point and shoot) until yesterday. I just checked and in all the folders I have (by month) from the last 16 years, I have over 32,000 photos!!! WOW.

Wow you girls take lots of photos!!!! I wouldnt have a clue but I really dont take alot of everyday photos as I tend to leave my phone laying around some where and never have it on me. I think I probably have about 15, 000 photos at the most. I use my Nikon to take photos and these are normally special occasions, partys and play dates that sort of thing. Jessica already doesnt like us taking too many photos of her and pulls silly faces all the time. We have tons of video of her though easily over 200 dvds thanks to her poppy.

I take a lot - my camera is awful ( cheap point n shoot) so you never know when you may get a decent shot. i only delete the really really bad ones

in 2014 took about 15, 000 photos

I take tons of photos with my iphone. It is my primary camera. I have no little ones other than the cats and sometimes take multiple photos to get something that is not blurry. Right now I have about 20k on my phone as well. I love the hipstamatic app, and pretty much take all my photos through there.

This is me also - ever since my daughter started high school a couple years ago my photo taking has gone way down. I take more when I see my grands, but that's not too often since they live away. I'm actually taking my daughter her her BFF out to take some fall photos today. I don't buy school pics but take her out every fall and do my own; so I'll have some of her to scrap tonight :)

My iphone is my primary camera now, too. Every once in a while I think I want a "big" camera, but then I'd have to learn how to use it. LOL!
I haven't heard of the hipstamatic app...I'm going to have to look into that one! Thanks, Danica :)

I'm there with all of you with older kids. I don't quite understand it, though...I hear, "No, Mom! Not right now! My (fill in the blank with clothes, hair, makeup) doesn't look good right now!" But then they take the most horrendous selfies! Maybe they are confident that those won't end up in a scrapbook!

I think I take more now than I did when they were younger (my boys are 14 & 16, my daughter is 22 and married). I took a lot when they were young, but wish I had taken more...you can't get that time back. I think the iphone makes it easier to get lots of pictures. Somehow, it is more acceptable to take pictures with the iphone than to pull the camera out.
