Homemade Holiday Gifts?

My daughter-in-law, Nessa, had some great put-together presents.

A mini-charcuterie in a bag cutout like a chef's apron with a pocket on front with a bamboo knife, fork and napkin in it (I loved it!)
A self-care kit for when you have a cold (vapor rub inhaler, cough lozenges, fever meds, tissues, hand sanitizers, etc.)

Lynnie, I’ve made photo ornaments for my tribe of nephews ever since they were born. I started because I had so many extra photos that didn’t make it into the scrapbook, so turning them into gift tags just made sense. When they were toddlers, it was a riot... even if they couldn’t read their names yet, they knew exactly which gift was theirs by the photo tag!

As they grew and I moved to digital scrapping, the photo tags got an upgrade: those metal ornaments you can order through Shutterfly.

My brother and SIL recently bought a larger home for their expanding family, and this weekend I was surprised to see the tree on the lower level (aka the kids’ tree) decorated with all those gift tags from over the years. I had no idea she’d kept every single one. Seeing all those little faces from across the years smiling back was the sweetest surprise.

And then my oldest nephew’s wife absolutely won Christmas with her gift for my SIL: a ceramic serving tray printed with a hand-drawn outline of their new home, the family name, and “2025” to mark the year they moved in. It was such a creative and thoughtful way to celebrate this new chapter.
