Do you delete old kits and layered files?

I'm running out of space on my EHD and trying to decide if I should go through my old kits and delete some that I know I won't use. Also trying to decide if I can delete the .tif files for layouts I've already printed and just keep the .jpgs.

Or should I be lazy and just buy another EHD, lol???

They have amazing deals on TB EHD these days on Amazon. Mine are all 3TB/5TB with plenty of space, and hold all my raw files from my photographs as well.

I'd totally buy a new HD. (and online backup if you don't already) Your time is valuable and EHD's are cheap. Unless you really enjoy the decluttering process, which can be fun for some people. :)

I have never deleted my original layered file :)

And I never delete a kit. I just don't have it in me....

I would definitely buy a new HD.

After I download a kit, I get rid of the extra stuff that I don't need. How many TOU's do you have to keep from the same designer if everything from her is in one folder. The coupons, if I don't plan on using I toss. Multiple copies of kit add-ons and previews I toss. Templates get file types I don't use tossed like PAGE, pngs, PS files as I only save preview and TIFF files.
Doing this as I download new stuff saves time so I don't have to purge later.

What does take the most time is with the daily downloads because after the month I sort according to elements, papers, alpha and extras to make it look like when you purchase a full kit.

I always make sure a preview is in the outer group of files because it shows there when I scroll through looking for something to use.

I've been a digital scrapbooker for almost 15 years now, so I definitely delete the old stuff. Styles have changed and design skills are so much better now compared to when we were all first figuring things out. LOL

For templates, I keep just one of the layered files and delete all the rest in the zip (.page files are really large and I don't use them, for example). I almost never use a template twice, unless it's something very special, so once I have pages printed and in a book, I delete templates I've used. I keep mine organized by number of photo slots, so a 4-pack of templates isn't kept all together most of the time anyway.

I tend to only purge older kits or in styles I don't use anymore. I'll pull out the unique pieces of a kit I want to purge and store them in folders for such things (such as hand-drawn elements or unique ephemera I can use on any page).

I enjoy the organizational process, but not frequently. I tend to purge once a year.

I have every kit I have downloaded even the freebies... I do the same as Lilly Ann does, I get rid of all the extra stuff... I could get rid of a kit... no way! LOL

I have gone through and purged once in all the years I've scrapped- and it was just stuff that I didn't feel matched with my scrapping style or anything I would potentially use. As it is.... I have around 200GB, and would probably buy an external harddrive before I deleted anything. Lol.

I've been around since right click was invented I think....
That said. I do delete older stuff that I know I will never use again. I also delete the layered files once they've been printed.
I have 2 online back ups which are behind on backing up. 2 internal 1T drives [getting low on space].
2 EHD [a 2T and a 4T] , and yes, going to purchase another one.

PS- check out easy duplicate finder to see if you can free up some space that way too.

I store what I need on an external hard drive, and what I don't really need I delete. Otherwise, you can simply drown in the trash that is kept "just in case."

I Keep everything! I even have old PSP completed layouts but can't open them since I don't have PSP anymore but I can't get rid of them.
My stuff is a mess. Files and files and files in no particular order. I have tons of papers how would/should I organise it? Some ate paper kits others are single downloads. Should I just dump it all together?

I tend to keep everything, too - hence the question, haha! However, I do try to keep everything pretty organized. I think I've seen questions in the past here on how people organize their kits, you may want to do a quick search for more ideas. I leave my kits together and try not to collect too many random single pieces because I know that I won't use them...mostly because I would either have to recolor them or search to find other kits to match. I do have one folder that has fun elements that are neutral (metal bits, strings, staples etc) that I will reference when I'm looking for that "one perfect thing" to complement a layout I'm doing. Otherwise I mostly scrap one kit at a time.

I think knowing how you pull pieces from kits when you are scrapping would help you know if you should dump it all together or somehow sort your papers.

I do much the same, except that I definitely re-use templates, so I don't get rid of those. :)

The addiction to hoarding junk (physical or electronic - it doesn't matter) is not a good habit. Because in this rubbish you cannot find what you need quickly and together with the necessary you store the useless.

I have purged extra files and some freebies over the years but otherwise I keep all mine on a external hard drive.
