Cutting Machine

I own a Silhouette Cameo and it happens to be my FAVORITE crafting tool! It helps so much with hybrid projects. Does anyone else have a cutting machine?

I think about it since I do lots of cutting, but haven't had the extra funds for one. I make invitations, party decorations and all sorts of greeting cards. It would help tremendously but instead I just use punches and hand cut stuff, lol.. It works for now :)

I know what you mean Em. I started putting money back each payday for mine. I'm so glad I have it. I have a portrait....never used if you want it.

I have an old cricut - back when they only had the small one - from my paper scrapping days. I keep it because it helps tremendously when doing bulletin boards for church!

I had an old one too....gave it to a friend with a bunch of cartridges. They would all have helped with bullentin boards. I use silhouette every couple of days....on weekends...all weekend. My favorite thing to do with it is the print and cut.

I have a Cricut AND a Silhouette. I haven't really been using the Silhouette much. I am afraid of it :) I need to get rid of the cricut and JUST use the Silhouette. Jump in at the deepend.

I have a Cameo. I keep saying I'm going to use it more but I always find something else that needs to be done before I can play.

I love my Silhouette. There is so much that you can do with it, but my favorite thing to do is PRINT AND CUT. I won't lie, it has a little bit of a learning curve. I feel like I know the program pretty good....for what I do I like it better than PSE....but I know there is so much more you can do. I really don't like the new version because the icons are so stinkin small....UGH

Once you have a little time, just dive right in. If you need help with anything, I'll be glad to help.

Thanks. Like you, I've got the print and cut thing down (make stickers for my planner). My and vinyl are a different story. Missi (missdamsel) is a whiz at the vinyl stuff. I might be headed to see her in July and plan on packing my Cameo so she can tutor me.

Yeah....I do a little vinyl things, but not much. I really want a heat press but waiting on my husband to build the garage. :)

I have non of the above. However, I have all sorts of the original Creative Memories stencils and cutting devices. Plus a lot of bunches etc. STILL have a lot of paper and stickers.

I just got the Cricut Explore 2 for my birthday...Yah ME! I love it for doing cards and off the page projects.

I have a Cricut Expression and probably 20 cartridges. I can remember only using it for my son's school projects -- I think he used it more than me! LOL I MIGHT have made a card or two. Then I got a Silhouette Portrait. I REALLY wanted the Cameo, but I just didn't have the room for it on the little table next to my computer; I think it was about 1/2 to 1 inch too long. Ugh. My Portrait sat in its box literally at least a year -- I had gotten a great deal on it but it just stumped me. I made I think two graduation cards in 2014. Then in 2015, while I was unemployed after being laid off, I decided to really look into it. I've been using it ever since to make cards. I have used the print and cut feature one time, and now I can't remember how to do it, as I'm always in a hurry making cards and don't have time to stop and try it again. But I am going to try it again!

One of the reasons that I liked the Silhouette over the Cricut was because I could technically use all the fonts in my library, although many of them just aren't conducive to being cut. Chunkyish ones work best. I don't know if Cricut still has that limitation.

I did the exact thing with the Cricut....had all these cartridges and ended up giving them to a friend. Then I ended up giving the cricut to another friend who has NO cartridges....UGH.....I shoulda gave them together. I just like helping people and didn't think about the person I gave the machine to not have any cartridges....I was thinking maybe it would be a backup.
I looooove my Silhouette Cameo. I have the portrait but have never used it. I'm giving it to a girl here at work to do vinyl stuff. I have to find the cord first. I have no idea what I did with it. I took it all out of the box and threw the box away. I shoulda kept it in the box since I've never used it.
Ever want to do print and cut, shoot me a fb message. My facebook page is under TanyaAdamsAlley. I'm at work so I can't get the exact address right now.

They are so much fun!!! I want to get into the pages, but all photos are on phones now. I need to get my family to send me some. I'm not a huge cell phone person...lol. Every now and then when everyone is around, I will take my camera out so I can have a few photos.

That's awesome....you can definitely incorporate digi into that mix!!!

I have a heat press, a silhouette and tons of vinyl. I have had for a year!! SOmeone needs to come over and motivate me. I will share :)

I have a cricut and because I know it so well, it is so easy. The sofftware interface for the Silhouette seems awkward and clunky and i don't have lots of files for it, so I don't really know what to do with it. I had the best intentions, but I need to spend a weekend and dig in.

Oh man.....I want a heat press and vinyl. Wish we lived closer!!! Right now files are.50 (most of them)...well they were yesterday. I wait until they are on sale.

Oh My Gosh - the very first thing I have ever used the silhouette for was this last week. We had glitter vinyl and made bridesmaids shirts. I am still SO excited about how well they turned out. AND we made a sash that said "Soon to be <lastname>". It was the most fun I had in forever.

Plus I have a t-shirt press that I used for the first time. I am not sure why I thought I needed a t-shirt press, but oh how I loved it this week...

Esther, which one do you mostly use.

I'll be honest it depends on the scale of the project. For a lot of my hybrid projects using digital designs, I seem to be using my cricut joy & brother scan and cut. I mainly use the brother scan and cut when I don't feel like fussy cutting or if I have a lot that needs to be cut out. I will pull out my sizzix big shot/side kick if I'm going to use some of my actual dies to incorporate in my hybrid layout.

If I'm doing mass cutting, I'll use the maker and/or the cameo. I do feel that the cricut overall does better fine cutting than the cameo (but that could just be my imagination).

Software wise, I will say the cricut is easier to use.
