Convert 12x24 template to 12x12...use half of the template?

Being new to digital scrapbooking using PSE18, I have quite a few 24x12 templates. How can I use only 1/2 (12x12) - one side of the template for a page? I started by moving the overlapping layers to clear the center line...but what is the best way? Do I do my 'page' on the half I want and then crop to 12x12 JPEG or is there a way to start with only the 12x12 of the template that I want to use? I hope that makes sense...

Hi Kellie and welcome to GingerScraps.
What I do-is create a new blank document 3600 x3600 pixels at 300 dpi. Then select all the layers of the double pager and slide them over to the 'new' 12x12. Save as. Create my 'new' Lo.
It's fine to delete the other side parts as you go.
I think Dear Friends Designs has an action to keep just half.

I have to divide mine for printing.
