So for Christmas I got a wonderful rash on my forehead. My skin was dry and I put some L'occitane moisturizer on it, and developed a wonderful fiery bumpy rash. My manager asked me what the heck happened to your face. Because that is what you want to hear when you get to work. The sad thing is I had used it before with no problems. So my question is are you allergic to something, or do you have allergies? I can only use one detergent for my laundry and also am allergic to cats, ironic right? So I am constantly on medication. I also have seasonal allergies. No food allergies that I am aware of, but have not been tested.

Oh no, Danica! :( Such a nice, compassionate response from your manager!
I used to be very allergic to grass and dust. I've pretty much outgrown those, although once in a while I'll still have an allergy attack.
My oldest son is allergic to furry animals (yes, ironic! LOL). He's gotten much better and only needs meds once in a while. He is mostly fine with our cats, although a couple of times a year he'll have issues. But, he always takes a Benadryl when we go to my mom's house (she has 4 cats).

Oh no! My sister is very sensitive to products on her skin and can only use certain things or ends up with horrible rashes like you describe :(

I'm not sensitive to products like that but I am deathly allergic to anything that comes out of the ocean - shellfish, fish, Nori, etc. I have an anaphylactic reaction and would die within minutes. I developed this allergy when I was 20 so I grew up eating lobster and seafood with no issues, but I've been a vegetarian for 20+ years now, so I don't miss it anymore :P Other than that I have hay fever in the late summer when the stupid goldenrod and Queen Anne's lace start blooming.

Oh my goodness, Marie! That would be so scary! I would have a hard time giving up seafood...sushi is one of my favorite meals!

OMG my allergies are sooooooooo bad. I am so allergic to hay and silly me allowed my daughter to get guinea pigs and ever since we got them my allergies have been through the roof bad. I have asthma almost daily and crazy rashes that appear from time to time. But mostly my nose is just so stuffed up all the time I can't breathe through it. So HAY is a huge allergy for me, I have also recently developed an allergy to my cats that we have had for 15 years so no way am I getting rid of them I will just have to deal with it until all these pets pass away. Then No more pets in my house and new carpet will be installed...oh and I am pretty much allergic to the entire outdoors. Every tree and blade of grass along with most weeds. Spring and Fall are the worst seasons for me but I manage some how. :D

I have hay fever which is my only seasonal allergy, but I'm allergic to a lot of narcotic pain medications (which we discovered while I was in the hospital having stitches put in, NOT fun!), and I'm highly allergic to MSG and artificial sweeteners in all forms.

That is super scary. Don't ever take glucosamine Chondroiton. It comes from shellfish. Do you carry an epi pen?

You poor dear!

Yes, I have an Epi-Pen although I've never used it in 30 years. I'm also allergic to Betadine (which has the same element of iodine that shellfish has) so I wear a medic alert bracelet too. When I had my children they had signs up all over my hospital room saying "NO BETADINE, ANAPHYLACTIC" - LOL. I can't have contrast dye either (used for various tests of which I haven't needed to date thankfully), can't take the glucosamine/chondroitin either. Another thing I have to watch out for is various gardening soils/fertilizers made from shellfish also (very common here in Maine since we have so many shellfish to make it from). I also avoid restaurants like Kobe- hibachi places because even the "fumes" of cooking seafood can make me have a reaction :36_1_10:

Highly allergic to wasp stings ( I have an epi pen.)
also to penicillin . (DD and grandson too)

then wheat- need to be gluten free.

some seasonal allergies, but since I'm retired those are much better.

Wow you guys. Some scary allergies here!!! Some I knew about already (marie and Kim) but holy heck...allergies seem to be more rampant nowdays then in the past that's for sure.

I am allergic to CAFFEINE. Yep....one simple little ingredient in most drinks!!! However, it's not simple. It's only in the way it's processed. I can eat chocolate with caffeine, just not drinks. So no coke, pepsi, sprite. I can drink root beer and ginger ale because they are caffeine free. No coffee or tea with caffeine either.

Also no meds with it in them. Codeine for sure!! I had a surgery when I was 28 and the idiot doctor I had gave me codeine after surgery for the pain when it said right on my chart in HUGE RED LETTERS "ALLERGY ALERT: CAFFEINE!" Even the lady who brought my lunch to me said "I brought you a herbal tea with no caffeine if you'd like it" Sheesh.

Xboxmom, same exact thing for me. Got the kids some guinea pigs, and the hay totally set me off. Had a huge months long asthma attack. When I went to the allergist to get tested during this time, he wouldn't even do the back pokey test because I was so bad at the time he was afraid I'd go into anaphylactic shock‎. Anyway, the back pokey test thing showed I'm allergic to everything (like at a 4, highest degree) except for mold and large farm animals but they eat/sleep on hay so I can't really hang with pigs and cows. No food, skin, or medicine allergies though.

My allergies are bad the Allergist didn't know how I even cope with the amount of environmental allergies I have. I told him I have been going strong for (then) 36 years. The shots made me worse so I quit taking them and I just deal with it with the Alegra and Benadryl. If I could get someone to take those piggies I would we much better I am sure.

Wow! I am really thanking my lucky stars right now and feeling for those of you who have so many or such severe allergies! :grouphugg:

I tried the shots but had to stop when I started getting a huge welt where they gave me the shot that would not go away between shots.
